Carl Bernstein on CNN talking about how everyone in Washington (repubs in congress, military, ic)is talking about if Trump is fit for to be president. 25th amendment anyone?

Pubs know that even if they think Trump should be impeached that their base would murder them for doing it. It won't happen unless/until Mueller gets charges.

Does it matter? Intel and other tech companies will continue donating and holding fundraisers for the politicians that let the nazis in Charlottesville feel bold enough to do what they did anyway.

Musk was the first to walk after the Paris Accords withdrawal. I remember GAF shitting on Musk for doing the right thing months and months ago. Strange how the Merck and Intel CEO's walking months later barely registers a response.
People expected better of Musk.

No one expects better from these chucklefucks; they don't have any internet fan clubs out to defend their participation in fascism.

If they are honest they would all agree he isn't.
trouble is there is no mechanism for this state of affairs. No wheels are set in motion.

Didn't see this thread before making one about this.

Still great to see, I'm expecting more to drop out today after 3 basically giving them the green light to do so.

Like they were saying on Pod Save America, absolutely everyone should be leaving these councils. They are worthless and make the companies involved looked terrible.

Can't call them out by name? Why? They're white, that's why. Another reason you are a racist asshole. Fuck your jobs, we don't care.

I'm resigning from the Manufacturing Jobs Initiative because it's the right thing for me to do.

After Trump attacking people that left.

Who does he represent?

yup. this is a bunch of meaningless symbolic garbage.

Trump is obsessed with meaningless symbolic garbage, so it must feel like his world is collapsing.

so? it won't have any material result. even if it makes him flip out even more it's pretty clear that his party and base won't abandon him.

there are concrete financial things intel and other companies could do to fight the right wing that's so clearly OK with nazis (like defund and leave the american chamber of commerce) but they won't. next year intel money will be funding trumpist candidates for the house and in 2020 they'll be funding trump himself.

I suspect the reason why they're leaving is that they don't see value in staying anymore.

The initial idea was to have a sort of camarilla that would have a short walk to Trump's ear on matters of business. Which, come to think of it, is a very textbook Fascist sort of thing, though probably nobody gave it a second thought.

Now that Trumpo's repeatedly getting high on his own farts and the public optics on staying by his side are worsening, they're deciding to bail one by one.

I agree it is not enough, but symbols do matter

did it matter when republican leadership distanced themselves from trump in the aftermath of the access hollywood tape? this is basically the same thing.

capitalists and corporations cannot and will not save us from trump because they got us to trump in the first place. people like krzanich literally made this happen.

I don't expect anyone saving us, whatever that means.

I simply consider every attack against Trump a good thing, no matter how small. Get over it.

Minnesota Public Radio put in a call to Inge Thulin of 3M to see if he's going to stay on board. No response yet.

Anyone else on the manufacturing council the same color as Ken Frazier so we know when to expect Trump to call someone out specifically over Twitter for jumping ship?

It took Trump sympathizing with real, literal nazis to cause this to happen. Like, what?

If you ask me, this council means nothing whatsoever to these companies, they just wanted to join it to look good and now they can quit it to look good.

As I've mentioned earlier, I suspect the original idea behind this council experiment was to both limit the amount of economic damage his senile demented ass could wreak, and to influence his policies in the direction of big-business-friendly legislation.

This arrangement is called a camarilla, and is a Fascist construct.

Yeah it's not like Trump is a sensitive fragile snowflake that would let these symbolic gestures get to him or anything!

If he didn't care, he wouldn't have tweeted that he could just replace all the ones leaving, like he has a long list of nobodies wanting to join his cause.

Between this and the constant firing of the WH press guy, he is creating jobs.
