Interesting RE4 details (though probably older than sin...)

"New" (?) details according to IGN (circa 11/23/04)

[Note that this was originally posted on IGN back on the 23rd, but I've tried to search the forum to: 1) see if these weren't new details, i.e. already known details about RE4 and 2) to see if anyone had commented on the original IGN article. I didn't have any luck in either case so hence the creation of this post. If you happen to know if there is an old thread about this same information, could you give me the link to it? Thanks :)]

“One of the most dramatic departures by far is the ability to purchase items from merchants... You can purchase these items using the cash from felled villagers or by finding small cash reserves hidden throughout the village. As previously stated, merchants will also buy items, so you'll need to strategize what you pick up and what is left at the shop... Merchants will also upgrade your weapons by increasing fire power, firing speed, reload speed and ammo capacity."

"...Capcom introduces a rather interesting twist to inventory management. Items will now take up space in relation to their size... Instead of dumping items in a crate or leaving them on the ground, players will now carry their items in attaché cases... Merchants will sell you larger cases so that you can carry more times, and that by itself is a pretty dramatic change from previous games."

"In a recent interview with RE4 producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi, IGN Cube learned that Capcom fundamentally changed the way players will save their game. Players can now save their games as many times as they want, whenever they want, provided there is a typewriter nearby. No more collecting ink ribbons. Players will be able to locate save points using the in-game map, as typewriters are marked. And when you die, you can easily continue without having to backtrack as much as in times past. What's more, the game will automatically save your progress at the end of each level."

Ok, now I'll have to buy this game. I hated the old system...
