I made some high res, 60fps gifs for your enjoyment. You can also use this thread to discuss all the little details of the trailer and the implications, since some people were interested in doing that without getting drowned out by drama.

I'm currently subscribing to Jaffe's trailer theory that the anime on the TV is basically the hidden gameplay teaser. She'll be doing DMC style flips and twirls while shooting.

Looks good, but from ND I'd expect a lot more visually. We already have games that looks better and this gonna release 2 years or more from now. I hope they pushed things like destruction or physics.

Also, I really hope there will be organic enemies and gore, and not just robots.

It looks solid visually, but between this, God of War: Ragnarok, Spider-Man 2, Ghost of Yotei, etc.. etc.. I just don't think Sony holds the crown anymore as far as their games being leaps ahead of everyone else from a graphics perspective.

Definitely can't wait to play though. Naughty Dog's narrative chops but in space sounds like a blast.

It's certainly an art style with less photorealism but this is the first time a new graphical candy hasn't blown me away.
even Starfield interiors could fight this trailer graphically.

The ray tracing effects on the knobs and dials look good. But the main gameplay level looks really meh.

Yep.

But Starfield is targeting 30 fps whereas ND is going for 60 fps for some reason. I really dont understand the 180 these studios have done this generation in regards to 30 fps.

Their facial animations are literally the only thing where they will lead everyone.

I think current gen motion matching will be the next tech quantum leap and all about terrain and environment context, both in and out of combat. The way she jumps and bounces of thst rock should give you an idea

why does everything have to be a graphics comparison with you in every post

Not anymore they don't.
Hellblade 2 is the only one i can think of. Maybe Amy Henning's game. But the work they do with the eyes and those little extra touches they hand animate eyes, cheekbones, lips, and eye brows will always stand out. just like it does in this trailer.

though, admittedly, you have to be looking for it.

Like: the aesthetic and the lighting, animation is top notch
Dislike: everything else

So before I dismiss this I need to see more.

Hellblade 2 is definitely past this game. This is the fixed trailer, and just look at their mouths and how much they don't 100% match the words. Look at the eye patch girl. It's not the end of the world, it looks great. But at no point does it look like literally real people like Hellblade 2 does at multiple points (and you can pause that at any time and go into photo mode, and this is a finished product, not the trailer). ND has a history of the trailers being a tiny bit better than the final product as well.

Unreal 5's Metahuman is better on faces going for realism than ND is currently.

Things that stood out to me in the combat gif:
Lot's of physical interactions. How the mech sword pushes water in the air as it prepares for the swipe, all the water ripples created by the character and the robot, all the grass interactions from the air movement caused by the saber.
The rock is part of the combat sequence, meaning big parts of the environment will be used to the player's advantage to string hits against enemies. We also see the in-between frames of animation as soon as she jumps, changing from running to going in the air.
Animation quality will have a big leap, necessarily so, to accommodate the expanded melee combat. A new generation of motion matching would be necessary to strike a balance between input delay and not taking control away from the player too much in order to achieve high animation quality.

Calm your tits. If you cant handle graphics comparisons in a thread about gifs and a graphics trailer with zero gameplay then perhaps forums are not for you.
or maybe......keep it on track with the thread title and stop turning every thread into a graphics comparison slimey......

This is literally the gif thread with a dozen high res gifs in the OP alone, and I was literally replying to a guy who made the starfield comparison. If thats not keeping on track with the thread i dont know what is.

Love the crt tvs, and old technology and in the end all that will matter is the quality of the game, looking at that bald head will hurt for a while but gamers will find an in game hat.

Can't wait to see more from the combat in this game. Glad we made a new thread dedicated to discussing it. I wont even enter the other threads. Combat looks like it's going to be really good.

Good digital foundry analysis, trailer look 4kish, 60fps, has rt reflections and probably rt shadows. They doubting its possible on base ps5 or even on pro so rather some downgrade comming in final game.

Wondering about the license in this game.

We have a a Porshe space ship.
We have 80's licensed music.

How far do they take this?

Will there be other name brands other car licenses etc?

Really excited for this. I am digging the retro futuristic theme and honestly like the sci-fi dystopian aspect with brands everywhere. Music was also on point, imo. A more free flowing and stylistic melee combat system from ND sounds amazing, especially considering what they did with TLOU series. Also, for people complaining that ND can't handle good looking women, the main character in the anime( that ND has created for this game) seems to be good looking with pronounced features. ND seems to be continuing the tradition of grounded natural look for its characters, like they did in TLOU.
