The ray tracing effects on the knobs and dials look good. But the main gameplay level looks really meh.

Yep.

But Starfield is targeting 30 fps whereas ND is going for 60 fps for some reason. I really dont understand the 180 these studios have done this generation in regards to 30 fps.

Their facial animations are literally the only thing where they will lead everyone.
Why is the framepacing/framerate so choppy?

Hopefully lalo salamanca is gonna be the joel of this game and it's gonna have huge screentime.

And please, let me kill some humans aswell, not just robots.

It looks solid visually, but between this, God of War: Ragnarok, Spider-Man 2, Ghost of Yotei, etc.. etc.. I just don't think Sony holds the crown anymore as far as their games being leaps ahead of everyone else from a graphics perspective.

Definitely can't wait to play though. Naughty Dog's narrative chops but in space sounds like a blast.
If the game is made with 60 frames in mind, you have your answer, i was hoping that at least ND would just throw everything into the graphic and maybe make a 40hz option for the pro to make the console even more palatable.

I also think that this is gonna be a rare case when the final game is gonna look better than the reveal, it usually never happen with ND games (or in general).

What I'd like to know is who is the character in the anime shown and will we get to play as them.

I like the idea from the other thread that the sword is an audio visualizer. I'm a big NIN/Reznor guy so I like the idea of music being a big part of the gameplay if it's true.
It was me, and I was also saying people think the CDs could become a mechanic to load into the sword, I personally think it would be cool if switching CDs would make the sword and jacket change color and give different abilities.

If I could sort of represent this with AI images, it's something close to these:

Thank you.

It is funny when the trailer rolled you didn't need to see much you just knew it was Naughty Dog.

Still very surprised about the Porsche and Adidas (and probably other brands) inclusion. I have a huge soft spot for Porsche so I am too biased about that, but it feels about the same level or less weird than seeing Monster Energy Drink in Death Stranding. If this is the next avenue to make more money from games then obviously I don't think it is great, but it might be better than having franchises go to be a completely different gaas game route. Some people speculate it might make sense within the universe or just for flavor. Not sure about that.

Trailer was absolutely amazing and the highest quality and art creation. I haven't been this excited for a new game in a long time. In a very long time.

The way they did the monsters drinks in ds was absolute madness. Like really at the end of civilization the rain will old you so all there is to drink is monster. More kojima mind games.

There was the timefall brew which was replaced with monster energy or maybe it was the other way round. It was bizarre nonetheless.

Super clean graphics and so far, excellent animations.

Ps: don't like all of the rest. I wish it would be 100% futuristic scifi and not the tiring neo-retro 80s synthwave crap.

Super dope. Hope that’s kind of the concept that we get.

Give us a list of games you think that look better, because Imsomiac alone proves nobody knows how to optimize a game properly for raytracing without requiring the consumer to have 4090 GPU. The rest of the industry hasnt even caught up to the animations in TLOU2 yet, and Intergalactic looks like its a step up from that. Just look at this gif. Its pure cinema, and if its in engine, then theres currently nothing on the market that comes close.

OL2BZkM.gif

The visual fidelity of this animation looks above "video game" quality. Like the amount of polygons, vertices, etc. Its probably why they havent shown any hair rendering yet; it would look out of place in contrast to everything else looking so real.

Another game that had its visuals killed by the 60fps obsession. Can you just imagine a 30fps version of this game? Only way it could trade blows with Marvel 1943.

Visually the game does look good (better than a lot of the games we've had). It looks too clean....that could just be the art style chosen. They don't seem to be going for "photo realism" so a game with that focus might look better in comparison but they are going for different things so...

Hellblade 2 is definitely past this game. This is the fixed trailer, and just look at their mouths and how much they don't 100% match the words. Look at the eye patch girl. It's not the end of the world, it looks great. But at no point does it look like literally real people like Hellblade 2 does at multiple points (and you can pause that at any time and go into photo mode, and this is a finished product, not the trailer). ND has a history of the trailers being a tiny bit better than the final product as well.

Unreal 5's Metahuman is better on faces going for realism than ND is currently.
I don’t find the trailer to be mind blowing. More like a “game is in production announcement”.

Its very different from Uncharted 4 reveal, which likely was a target render. This looks like game under production footage, not finished.

I feel Playstation under new management works differently and isn’t trying very hard to sell consoles. They sell themselves.

Stylistically, I don't like it. It could be a new Guardians of the Galaxy game. She's even wearing Starlord's jacket. At least the color-scheme avoided violet.

Two things-

1. The energy sword with a graphics equalizer style blade is cool as hell

2. The way they purposefully show her jumping off the rock to attack makes me suspect the combat will feature some type of high level environmental interaction. They said they are pushing themselves, and this is an area of physics interaction very few games have attempted to push.

Why is she using the hair clipper, upside down.
Because it's SPAAAACE CLIPPPERRS!

Actually I'd be good with it if the angle were a little steeper, this looks a little goofy... I don't know, the times I've given myself the clippers psychopath haircut eventually ya go inverted in an attempt to get every spot.

Yeah, I’d almost rather studios stop shooting for 60fps and just focus on dialing in the fidelity and aiming for 40fps. Usually ends up feeling more cinematic with a little motion blur anyways.

They better have something up their sleeve for the melee gameplay. I didn't see a gun at all. They've got no record for that.

Maybe the combat and movements will be super fast instead of the slow Uncharted/TLOU so that 60fps are better. Or maybe you can even fly spaceships.

She picks up a gun while on the ship on the way to the cockpit and it's hanging off her hip during the sword scene. I'm unclear what you mean by "no record for that". TLOU Part 2 alone had plenty of melee and gun combat.

Looks so good!

People wanted "true next-gen stuff". This is as next-gen as it gets.

I can't wait to see how Naughty Dog evolves their melee combat gameplay (which is second to none) and their animation systems (which remain top-notch, along with Rockstar Games')

Indeed, there is a reason they are the Naughty Gods. They deliver a complete package like no other with graphics, animation, audio, world building, story, engrossing characters, combat and more. Some other games may do individual things better here and there, but no one does the complete package like Naughty Dog.

It took 20 years for a game to unseat my previous GOAT which was the original Deus Ex, and TLOU2 claimed that spot. They have my complete faith after delivering so consistently.

That isn’t precision melee combat. More like press X to see animation.

This one looks more like Japanese character action game. Western studios, except a few are not really good at it. Would be interesting to see what they are able to do with it.

Looks like PS4 game to me.

Dunno whats next gen about it. Remove Naughty Dog logo and there is nothing to get excited about.

They had a great dodge/attack system with TLOU2 that made great use of motion matching. Whatever this combat is, it'll likely be built off of that and be taken to the next level

Graphical fidelity, animations, ray traced reflections, ray traced shadows, fluid simulations from the water in the brief combat scene as the enemy sword swoops through the water... All while at what appears to be 4K 60 FPS. Where are these PS4 games that look like that? Let's see 'em.

What utter nonsense.

You call Starfield "a huge achievement." Of course Intergalactic looks like a PS4 game to you. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

You know what would've made great use of an evolved Part II melee system? A Naughty Dog spin on Jade Empire.

Cannot express how disappointing it is that their new IP is retrofuturistic sci-fi slop.

Lovely to see fanboys from both sides praising or trolling this game to the extreme, way more entertaining than the trailer itself :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

I made some high res, 60fps gifs for your enjoyment. You can also use this thread to discuss all the little details of the trailer and the implications, since some people were interested in doing that without getting drowned out by drama.

Such a missed opportunity to use the Jaguar brand!

The Matrix Awakens demo has more gameplay and freedom than Hellblade 2. Pushing all on graphics and no gameplay layers doesn't mean much now does it? Intergalactic is supposed to have an open world like Elden Ring, an you still compare them?

Disengenious and borderline delusional.

Oh damn thanks I didn't see the gun. I haven't played last of us 2. I heard the gameplay expanded on the first one but is it really getting into action game territory?

Each to his own, the but the combat/gameplay in TLOU 2 is so intense and high-octane that's almost unprecedented. TLOU 1 gameplay was okay-ish, but nothing extraordinary. I found the combat in TLOU 2 extraordinarily great.
