Sofo said:I don't understand. Why do I get the "send message" swoosh when sending an iMessage? It makes using it obnoxious and annoying for people around you. I didn't mind it when it was for normal SMS, because I don't send that many, but iMessages? Ungh.
I've asked on feedback at Apple, if anyone else is annoyed by not being able to turn this off without jailbreaking, feel free to help!

Hope I'm not the only crazy one who is bugged by this!
CorrisD said:The only things I'm missing now, and the reason I will no doubt JB again once the untethered is out:
Tweeting from anywhere, seems silly to integrate it into iOS but not let us tweet from anywhere using say a notification center widget like the existing weather one, same for Messaging, the app is nice, but it would be so much quicker sending a quick one off from the notification center instead of changing an app.
A menu bar icon for notifications, seems kinda silly to not have anything besides badges across icons that could be anywhere across the homescreens and in folders.
Contacts/Messenger pictures, an annoying thing I find is that there are still no contact pictures in either, more so messenger, and numerous times I have text the wrong person just because the names are close or I forgot who I text last and don't look at the name when opening up the app. Would also be great if there was a way to see what number from a contact I was texting for those with multiple mobile numbers and such like.
Baconbitz said:Ok, I'm a little confused. Let me have this cleared up. to long into the cloud you need a @me address? If yes does that mean I have to create another iTunes account?
That's already disabled, I'm talking about text messages/iMessages, not mail. There's no such setting for SMS/iMessages.ivedoneyourmom said:Go to settings, then general, then sound, and turn the switch that says something like 'send mail' from swoosh to none.
SuperPac said:That menu bar is pretty crowded already depending on your settings. You have signal strength, carrier, 3G (or "No Service"), Wifi, sync progress, the time, location service, alarm on, bluetooth on, bluetooth device battery indicator, battery %, battery icon. If you didn't see it on the lock screen and don't want to check the badges on app icons, do you really need an icon when it's easy enough to swipe down and see what notifications have come in?![]()

I reset my password twice and it tells me I need an email address. So, I used my email with no luck. So, idk.chickdigger802 said:Works fine with my itunes account.
StopMakingSense said:No. If you want to use iCloud for email, you need to create a .me address. You would still log in with whatever your iCloud login is.

iCloud login = iTunes login. Right?
No but don't you still have to pay to get one of those or is that free now?polyh3dron said:do you have a MobileMe account?
Doesn't look like you can change your Apple ID to use a MobileMe account after the fact (I was hoping to do this as well). I don't have too many purchases on my existing account (Tapatalk and a few games) so I've not decided whether or not I should just write them off or download them from my current account.Reluctant-Hero said:I went ahead and setup an @me.com address. Now what? It's just like any other email address right? I'd have go and change all of my Apple ID stuff to take full advantage of it?

Personally I've never been 100% happy with the way Gmail works on the iPhone (archive/delete thing bugs the shit out of me), so it was something I wanted to try out. I know Gmail is incredibly feature rich (and I love it for that) but just a few moments of using the iCloud mail app reminded me of how simple email used to be (and I love it for that).quadriplegicjon said:So why would you want to use a MobileMe account instead of whatever you had before? I've been using it that way since I got my iPhone. Still doesn't give me the ability to actually DELETE email.Boof said:I didn't like that way Gmail worked on iPhone until I discovered this...

Well you have to plug the iPad to iTunes to get iOS 5 anyway. So once you do that every single purchase that you made will be backed up on your computer. Once iOS 5 is installed the apps your previously bought will be installed on your iPad.Summary Man said:I have a question I'm almost embarrassed to ask: I purchased an iPad 2 in July, and for some reason I never plugged it into iTunes. I don't want to have to rebuy certain apps.

To use your Apple ID with iCloud it must be formatted as an email address. If you have an older Apple ID that's not an email address and just a username you need to update it before it'll work with iCloud. You can edit/update your ID via iTunes itself by "viewing" your account and clicking edit.Baconbitz said:I reset my password twice and it tells me I need an email address. So today I decide to update my wife's iPhone 4 to iOS 5, and iTunes says it needs to download an update for this phone. It's downloading the update now. I just don't understand why it didn't use the GM file I used, as it did previously, when I updated to iOS4 early doing the exact same thing.

Hey mate I had the same problem.JohngPR said:Is anyone else having issues with your phone not auto syncing when you plug it in to a power source?
Everything else works fine, and I can wifi synch fine as well when I manually tell it too, but it's not syncing on its own when I plug my phone into a charger.
Any ideas?

I see what your saying but your fine. Whatever iTunes sees it doesn't have, it will sync and copy it to itself so it has it's own copy.Summary Man said:Great. I just didn't want iTunes to overwrite whatever was on my iPad. I was always under the impression that iTunes dictates what is on your iPad, so if you have an app on iPad but not on iTunes, iTunes will take it off the iPad.
And seeing as how my iPad has a ton of apps that aren't on my iTunes, I was afraid of what might happen when I update my iPad.
Surely this will be fixed very soon, right?Greyface said:

EDIT: To clarify - proper old school. You create a folder, you put emails in the folder. No conversations either.

Plug your iPhone into your computer so it connects with iTunes. In iTunes click the iPhone under devices. Make sure your looking at the Summary tab. Go down till you see "Sync with this iPhone over Wi-Fi". May sure that is checked. Then sync one last time so the settings are enabled. Now try to sync through Wi-Fi on the iPhone itself. It should work.
