Stop shitting on my team. Start shitting on my finger.
I know, I think I'm one of the few who really thinks it looks good. I actually didn't think the controls looked too bad.

I am so confused seeing Forza in another thread...

Also pulled the trigger on FFT. Is Guardian Cross any good? I have an itch for a good card game with Hex coming out soon.

Put in probably 7 hours of KR today. Crazy. It's so good, if a little on the easy side. The persistent and upgrading heroes are a great addition. Something to grind and they feel very powerful. Can't imagine how good the dragon must be. It appears to be selling well on both platforms, here's to hoping for future content!

Paradox Interactive announces a June 18th release date for Knights of Pen & Paper +1 Edition, the Windows and OS X version of their computer RPG about playing a tabletop RPG. Those who make their initiative roll can preorder the game, which does not include any incentives other than the intrigue presented in this trailer. Word is: "The original KoPP is a bestseller on mobile platforms and this new +1 edition sports the same pixelated look of the 16-bit era and features tons of pop culture references, but also adds a bunch of new things

Trailer

I'll probably double dip on this one.

why on earth would you pay ten bucks to play knights of pen and paper on a computer?

KOTOR om iPad is the best game on it since Broken Sword... damn impressive controls on it.

Any word on if the extra content is coming to iOS/as an update?

Cool thank you! Was going to translate stuff myself since it's all in kana, but you saved me time ;) Nice to see that the game is deeper than it appears.

The game does not teach you anything about personalities. It's also easy to overlook the extra abilities certain equipment has given that equipping characters can waste valuable time.

It's 99 cents now, and oh so totally worth it. I'm willing to gift it to someone since I think the maker deserves the money.

KR Frontiers is really good. The first 3 levels, I was just thinking "more of the same" (that's not a bad thing) but the first pirate level really threw me for a loop! Awesome level design!

Yeah, that level was fantastic. My heart sank when that guy showed up half way through- ruined everything! Hahaha

Oh I hope this gets an iOS update, for me this game is for iPhone what Pokemon could be for gameboy. Can't imagine playing it on mac but the new content looks like fun! Hope the devs prepare the update for us.

Also, Deus Ex looks fantastic, wow. Hope it plays well on iPhone.

Here you go:

(has movie spoilers)
I wish it wasn't so though.

Also, it's gross.

Gross is an accurate word to describe this. Didn't know superman was a Z fighter.

And I don't really think of him as a fast combo type of guy lol.

Stuff like this makes you think that hey, maybe gameloft movie games aren't that shabby.

I made a pretty major mistake buying the most powerful hero in KR Frontiers - the dragon.

First off, my thinking was that I don't mind buying a hero, and if I'm going to buy one I might as well buy the best one. In these kinds of games I like to min/max and totally steamroll everything. That's just the style I like. It was $6.99 and I bought it on impulse.

For some reason, I was imagining a dragon that stayed on the ground. Instead, this dragon stays in the air the whole time. It will fly where you tell it, but the problem is that wherever you put it, it's in the way. It hovers over the map, blocking whatever's going on beneath it.

It's also very powerful to the point where it's not fun. I'm beating every level (on normal) with ease. I intend to go back and start over without the dragon at some point. At this point I'm only continuing to use it because I just spend $7 on it. So far, the game seems like it would be kind of easy without the dragon. The upgraded archer towers with the bolt guns seem really powerful.

Anyway, my advice is don't buy the dragon.

The game itself is really great. It's 80% more of the same (the levels I've played so far) but that's okay. I got a kick out of the Star Wars "sand people" on the cliffs helping you out on the third level. The new towers are cool, but not necessarily better - just different. They've added depth by giving each hero its own upgrade path, and persistent leveling for each hero. (That's another reason I bought the dragon early, is because if I'm going to have persistent leveling for a hero, I might as well get on board the dragon from the start and not waste time.)

Is FFT good on iPhone (iPhone 5)? As far as visuals and controls on the smaller screen.

Never ever played this game. Was a big fan of Final Fantasy back in the PS 1 days, but never got to Tactics (I'm terrible, I know).

Thought Emoji Movie was good. Take that as you will.
Playing Warhammer Quest on my iPhone 4 really makes me want to play it on a iPad.

It's so close to be a great game, but it needs more variety in the actual combat... give me some chests to loot.. give me some more open areas.

I've been in the mood for something substantial to play lately, so I finally bought King of Dragon Pass. Pretty excited to finally give it a shot.

Ooh, I should get Scurvy Scallywags too.

its not iphone 5 optimized which kinda sucks. Controls are perfectly useable, but naturally better on ipad.

you can free cam and zoom at will so movement isn't an issue and I really love SE's whole 'virtual trackpad scroll' feature in which you can slide your finger up the side somewhere the the menu selector moves up and down respectively. It's quite intuitive.

Theres no reason not to get it if you want it, especially cuz its half off atm.

Enjoying Scurvy Scallywags. I can't imagine this game will get much hype outside of Ron's fans though, it's a bit......Ron. I'm waiting for the first mention of Grog which I'm sure is only around the corner (unless that's owned elsewhere)

Still, it's fun as a Match 3. I didn't have one on my iPad at the moment, so, it fits.

This doesn't sound like a ringing endorsement, and it isn't, but, if you like a Match 3 that plays a little differently and enjoy pirate humor, it's an easy sell at .99.

It's fun and seems to have a lot of depth. But you have to reaaallly love pirates. And that's what's keeping me from loving it.

Yeah, I saw that in the reviews about not using all of the 5's screen.

Not too big a deal for me, just need the controls to be decent. Will probably pick it up, thanks!

Scurvy Scallywags is really fun. I'm not a match 3 person but this game adds a lot of variety and twists to it (at least to me).

9th Dawn is a fun, grand feeling rpg to me. The world feels pretty expansive with what seems like a lot of hidden stuff to discover. Doesn't help there's loot to be found.

Still debating Final Fantasy Tactics though.. I know it's a great game and am tempted cause of the sale...but I'm just not a SRPG/tactics type of person. I've tried dabbing in a few on the Nintendo DS back in the day..but I'll usually just get through like 3-4 missions before getting overwhelmed and frustrated.. Must be the "game collector" side of me and the FFT sale that tempts me.. ;-)

I'm finding it more difficult than the original. Maybe it's because I've been starting over if there is a leak. Maybe I just need to be more forgiving, complete the level and come back when I have more tower and hero upgrades.

That said, do you guys have any general strategy tips? I'm almost considering getting the $7 dragon hero just to wreck shit up.

Youtube was a huge help for me in getting past some of the stages in the original. I would imagine people will start posting walkthroughs up there soon (if they haven't already).

The more I play Scurvy Scallywags, the more I love it. The game gets hard, FAST. It's really similar to Warhammer Quest, in a way, with the way you need to strategize your movements and plan of attack. When it's you on a board with six enemies surrounding you you will fight for your survival and each swap is crucial. The game really gets my heart rate going, especially when there are five zombie guys and a bomb-throwing lizard. It's really intense and it makes you value every move you make. Every time you die (run out of all 3 hearts), the cost to resurrect your pirate goes up which adds pressure to do well and not die. If you choose not to resurrect your pirate, he's gone and you start from the very beginning again, but you hold onto your gold and skills. While you also retain all of your items, you lose any quest items you may have held. It's more of a strategy game than a puzzle game in this sense, and that's really why I'm loving the hell out of it. The pirate theme isn't vital at all, but if you just hate to look at pirates then I'm sorry, but you're missing out.

To do well in the game, you really need to understand how the swap mechanic functions. Swapping a piece up or down can mean life or death.

Anybody know if there's a way to find your tally of hours played in an iOS game? I'm trying to calculate the value I got out of some games I'm finished with, just for kicks.

Tactics is one of the best final fantasy games in the series and I'd even though I haven't finished it yet its better than vii IMO though you can blame the fact I'm a whore for YasuminMatsuno games.

Having said that FFT is very difficult, especially at the beginning of the game. It's not a 'quick-fix' type of title.

BTW I am very curious about Kingdom Rush, never played the first one. What's the story with IAP?? Does the game feel incomplete without it or is it just to make the game easier??

Bridgy Jones is excellent. It definitely scratches that World of Goo itch. It also ended up getting a 9/10 gold award review from Pocket Gamer.

I usually don't get into the "get 3 stars" type of games, but this is an exception. The game doesn't make you start from scratch with each high score attempt. You're restarting with the same bridge you've built, fine tuning it little by little (with a nicely thought out control scheme, by the way), attempting to use as few resources as possible while maintaining a structure that doesn't crumble.

You also get 4 medal challenges per level with different requirements, so you'll end up building 2-4 different bridges in each to accomplish the goals (limiting your use of specific resources, getting to an out of reach collectible on the map, not dropping any cargo etc.).

You're gonna like Bridgy Jones.

Scruvy scallywags gets super hard. Almost feel like I should start over and try to min max. Shit is straight up RPG. Better strategize or pay up.

Right now I just try to have enough gold on hand to revive. I must be doing something wrong.

Junior, please.

No, it's not.

The game is basically broken down into hunting and card battling - this is how each one works...

Hunting: You get to go hunting a couple of times a day, more if you pay real money for it. Tap on monster silhouettes to shoot and capture them. This is where you get your new cards. If you buy IAPs, you have more chance of getting rare cards.

Card battling: Your deck and your opponent's deck line up head to head and slam into each other with precisely zero strategy. Whoever has the "best" deck wins, you have no control over any aspect of the battle.

Again, the number of battles you can have is limited by "energy" which can be recharged by waiting or with IAPs. So if you buy more energy, your monsters will level up more and your deck will be stronger.

That is literally all there is to Guardian Cross. Ignore all the 5-star ratings, it is utter garbage.

Invest points in damage at the beginning, then go for power. Damage increases your base damage (the sword points you start off with) and power increases the amount of sword power you get with a match. Don't worry about dodge or gold at the beginning. In the beginning, you want to get your base points above 10 quickly, it gives you an edge from the get go, as you need fewer sword matches to begin fighting. Invest some gold in the passive power skill, as well. You spend fewer power points with each battle that way, leaving you with more power between each fight.

All I have done since waking up at 9am is play this game. It's freaking great.

Kingdom Rush Frontiers is a great game if you enjoy your TD. Nice little upgrade to the series even if it starts a little slow. Would have liked to see a bigger difference in the lower level towers but the new specialties are really cool.
