Is it just me or has radio gotten much, much worse...

It's not just you.

This explains a lot.

It wasn't until recently (maybe a year ago?) that our ONLY hip hop station started playing One Direction and David Gutta. Pretty much blurring the genres. Now my Top hits/hip 3 stations to all play THE SAME SONG AT THE SAME TIME.

The only stations I listen to out of Portland, OR is an alternative station and occasionally a classic rock one. There was another rock station, but they fired all their DJs(they made better podcasts anyway), brought in a bunch of asshats to replace them, and then killed the station later on and turned it into right wing talk radio.

This sounds vaguely familiar... ;)

Thank god in Florida we have some good talk radio here.

Love doctors
Paul and Ron
Monsters
Led and terry , and so on.

The wife listens to the pop music though. Would rather stick a pencil in my eye.

NRK and KGON by any chance?

Well it's not like there's an abundance of stations here that you could get those wrong.

What I wonder is with so many stations moving to the national playlists, how are the top 40 shows populated? I listened to one the other day and I would wager that a full 1/3 of the songs played are never played on local stations. How do they handle that?
