Is this the end for BioWare as we know them?

Bioware has been dead since the ME3 ending. Since then they've been a shambling zombie trying desperately to regain their former glory (to increasingly embarrassing results)

Apart from ME3's ending I thought the game was great.

Can anyone summarise what happened to the studio after that?

I think Mass Effect 3 is a great game and the ending is fine.

Founders and other senior people left/retired.

Basically talent drain and even though EA restaffed the studio and gave it plenty of leeway it just want the same (Anthem was a major debacle meant to be ME successor, former devs said entire project was a mess)

EA have been unusually generous with Bioware over 10+ years without a major hit, I think its time to let it fade away and re-assign its staff to other teams in EA.

In my opinion bioware was already fucked in 2013 with mass effect 3, EA did them so dirty. After that everything has gone even more downhill, and probably because the studio is beloved and EA wants to wash its image of studio killer it has (wasn't around that time when they were killing visceral too?) they haven't axed them yet, but for me it's inevitable sadly

All of the big game studios are gone. I bet less than 10% of game devs who made the games we liked 15-25 years ago are at the same studios. The big dev studios are marketing now.

They made a very loud statement that they are woke and they are not changing with this last game, so I'm not sure how we move forward from here.

They'll get one last chance with ME.
They'll make it lame and gay too
It will fail despite an 80+ metascore and some reviewers claiming it's the best in the franchise

EA is going to be like:

And then they'll finally be shut down.
