Isn't it weird most of us will be hardcore gamer's when we're grandpa's?

That's something I never thought about. Unfortunately that seems to be a more realistic scenario, now that you mention it. At least you're not aware of it, that's a small comfort. But damn, imagine ending up with Superman 64 or some shit and play it all day every day.

Other things become more important and enjoyable. I turn 40 next week and although I loved gaming, I simply don't have the time or would prefer to spend time with my kids, family, friends, be outdoors or working (I enjoy what I do). I haven't touched my ps5 since ratchet and Clank released. I think I will game more when I am older and less mobile but most games have pretty terrible, childish storylines and I assume my reflexes will also be piss poor by then.

I don't get it why don't they give all kinds of consoles and PCs to old people and retirement homes. Best way to spend time and die in a heart attack while playing deathmatch.
Didn't they do that with the Wii? At least I remember they were available at certain hospitals.

By's I'm looking forward to playing beerio cart with you all in retirement homes, millennial retirement homes sound lit already

Right, I feel you there. I really don't want to look back and realize all I did was waste time sitting around. It already feels like my 20s and 30s were wasted on trashy people & environments. Prior to that I was painfully shy with no social skills. Now it feels like prime time to live life. Everything is headed in the right direction, so we'll see.

I can see myself growing out of following some franchises as an older person though. I've followed almost every Zelda since the first one ever. I don't know if I'll be getting whatever new system Nintendo has just to play it. I think after Breath of the Wild's followup on Switch, I might be taking a long break from reiterative series like that. I really crave brand new things these days.

54 years old grew up playing video games with my father who is 80+ still gaming on a nice PC (loves They Are Billions) he was a main frame computer tech in the 70s and 80s and would play silly games like Hunt The Wumpus

My 31 year old son grew up playing video games with me and still even today we game often together

Hope I am gaming as long as I am above the ground.

Lets say that most of us are grandpas/grandmas in about 50yrs.

Gaming will be so different then, I dont think it will be considered gaming.

Consider how far we have coming in the last 50yrs

I think there will be several breakthroughs which enable photo realistic visuals and extremely sophisticated VR or some kind of brain link, like neurallink or the matrix.

it's weird being a grandpa in general as i'm a volcel and don't plan on getting married and bring children to this shitty world.

I had to look this up.

But I would imagine it wouldn't be uncommon for older generational bachelor pads to start poppin up. Just a bunch of single childless dudes that wouldn't mind some gaming company to share a house and bill with. Stretch them retirement savings a bit.

yes, looking forward to yell 'git guud noobz' to my grandchildren.

or

my grandparents used to tell me the horror of war stories, I can tell them the horror to finish souls type games.

i imagine something like that happening too, not in my country tho as it's a taboo to be single but not live with your parents no matter how old you are.

I'm 40 with a 16-year-old. I could be a grandpa in 3 years lmao(hopefull not that soon). Gonna be a thick. solid. tight. grandpapa either way.

Its cool because we will never be lonely looking at of a window not ever seeing much of anything anymore. With internet + instant communication with family and games endless resource of content to play with random people. Good future ahead.

Not sure how hard core I would be - I've never been a competitive gamer except one time in late teens, and although it is my primary hobby, I can definitely see myself becoming even more casual or selective of what I play. I'm already getting there as I'm in late 40s.

After all, you only live once, and time is limited. I may feel different about playing games in my later years. I may just decide to get up and travel more or do something different.

I'd be more concerned that I was a grandpa considering, ya know, woman and all that. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Jokes aside, I think it's awesome if we're all gaming to a degree as senior citizens.

Ive just turned 48 and still gaming ever since i was 8–9 and got a vic 20 computer, then a spectrum , then from a atari had every console and handheld released since, although i wish i had kept hold of them now instead of binning everytime i upgraded. Although through my life been in a few relationships where the then gf tried to get me to give up gaming , but got a kid well teen in uni now so guess i could easliy become a grandad
