It feels like it's been Years since the last truly exciting game announcement

Remember bloodborne when it first leaked? Aka "project beast"
The hype was fucking amazing
Remember BoTW trailer at the switch reveal conference?

It feels like nothing is ever as exciting anymore
Everything is just too fucking bland and soulless
Am i the only one feeling this way
It's the whole game industry. Developers are afraid to take risk on really unique ideas and that's why we get the cookie cutter or "franchise games" as the casual fans call it. The industry has grown stale. As most thing, corporate money grubbing greed is the core root.

At my age, no announcement is exciting. Oh a new God of War? Ok. They're doing a new Zelda? Ok. Forza 12 is coming? Ok.

What's to get excited about?
Yea sadly unique ideas are few and far between.

Look at the top selling games every year.

Call of duty- Same gameplay with slight tweeks for over a decade
Madden- Shitty game series that fails to innovate but sells poorly every year
GTA V- Who in the fuck still does not own this and why does it keep selling?
"X" insert whatever sequel you want here.

People in market research today believe in the theory of how young people prefer games which allow them to make friends and express their personal values. If so they are less interested in game which seem revolutionary or mind blowing. So single player games expect a glut of horror games as sharing your scared reactions online is a staple they grew up watching.

Yeah I agree even though Elden ring was bonkers good I wasn't really super stoked when it was announced (looked like ds4). I think dormant older franchises getting competent looking releases is the only thing that's hype anymore and that is very rare due to our modern game industry. He'll even new ip from big developers like naughty dog is rare and that could be hype too, way too many ips iterated/trend chasing games because it's safe easy money.

Money always destroys art, that's why people hate when things go mainstream because most people are idiots. I'm just thankful every now and then a disco elysium, inscryption or something like Elden ring still happens.

I agree, I used to be insanely hyped for games, not anymore. Last I can remember is probably Cyberpunk. And that has nothing to do with Cyberpunk's bad launch, there just isn't anything that exciting to me.

FF16 - Looks like some action game like Devil May Cry 4 mixed with some RPG elements.
FF7 Rebirth - I don't want to play some fanfiction sequel to one of my favorites JRPGs. FF7Remake was a very mediocre JRPG so it doesn't look promising.
Kingdom Hearts IV - The series has been pure cringe since the second game. My girlfriend and female cousin said KH 3 was crap lol.
Crisis Core HD - Already played that on the PSP. It was only OK. Don't need to play it again.
looks like someone needs a healthy dose of action games because he's been feeling a little grumpy!
