It's the joker vs the riddler in the war of jokes and riddles

I've always liked when the Riddler is jelaous of the Joker for being Bat's archnemesis. Will take a look at this!

In other news, why can't the movie cowl look like this?

Doesn't seem too anatomically incorrect imo.

Comic aside,

Joker is not that smart for riddles .... but the Riddler does have a sense of humor. Not much, but more than Joker is intelligent.

Unless you count Dark Knight Joker who is a mastermind =P

Interesting that Batman #20 is going to give Bruce Wayne a
middle name
.

I wonder what it could be. William, as in 'Bill Finger'? Robert, as in 'Bob Kane'? Hmm, I don't know what would be a good fit.

Probably because it would run into the same issue Burton had with the cowl in Batman and Batman Returns.

It's impossible to move your head in a thick rubber "cowl" that would pull off that look. Keaton had to move his entire torso and the whole thing was ridiculous.

The JL/BvS one moves well and it's solid

But it really lacks the angular look of the comics.

Bleeding Cool said a couple of days ago that it's
going to be Thomas.

When did they change this? I haven't read comics regularly in 20 years or so, but when I did he was highly intelligent -- extensive knowledge of chemistry, technology, ability to plan and carry out international operations with little or no support, etc.

Also, go back and watch Batman 89. Nicholson Joker's accomplishments as a criminal mastermind are just as remarkable, if not moreso.

Tom King's been killing it, even more so than Snyder. Will read.

Still will never come close to Morrison's Batman!

They both have been awesome, but I think its still too early to tell for King's run. He has yet to do an arc that could come close to being as great as the Court of Owls, and that was just the beginning of Snyder's run. Plus, wasnt this Joker v Riddler story Snyder's originally?

Hope this deals with the 3 Jokers in some way. IMO having 3 Jokers was a horrible idea, but they said it so now they need to follow through with a really good story.

Jack's Joker was one of my favorites, and that was so... perfect for the time period as well. He was a Criminal Kingpin, a Mastermind, but also obviously unhinged. I loved the thugs in black, with the sunglasses and the berets, I thought it was excellent, like Beat Poet gangers.

King...killing it on Batman? Gonna have to disagree with you there.

Agree to disagree. I've been enjoying his run.

And the war of jokes and riddles sounds great.

D.C. In general has been killing it. Rebirth is great.

Only read up to 15 but kings batman work suuucks. Very disappointing effort from someone who is usually such a great writer

It's been really inconsistent. I end up loving one issue and then feel disappointed by the next. I've still found it worth reading but his work on Vision was on another level.

This has been brewing for awhile. The Joker has always hated the Riddler for basically cribbing his style in his view.

The Joker is a genius in almost every depiction he's ever had. Even right down to his first appearance, or the remake of his first appearance, he's been described as a criminal mastermind/genius by Batman himself. The Dark Knight didn't invent the Joker being smart. He's definitely an intellectual match for the Riddler here.

Nothing changed, guy was just incorrect.

I still would say he's intelligent to pull the stuff he did in death of the family

This entire arc is just a prelude to War of the Kites, a Kite Man centric event.
