From audio interview here.

Isn't that why Newstead left the band...because they wouldn't let him play with another group? I'm sure Kirk will love getting replaced by Dave for an album.

As a fan though I'm on board as long as James does all the singing. It's hard to find someone who can sing worse than Mustaine.

It was one of the reasons why Newsted left the band, at least.

And trading Kirk for Dave would be an improvement. Throw away Kirk's fucking wah-wah pedal while you're at it.

Something like that, yeah. About Kirk, what comes around goes around I guess :p If it happens.

Eh, I'm not too fond of Hetfield's nor Mustaine's singing these days really. James and his OOOOH YEAAAAHs, YEEEEAH-HAHs, etc along with Dave's subdued approach combined with a lot of mostly spoken verses/choruses in songs all over leave me indifferent to both bands' recent outputs. *shrug*

I like Metallica, don't get me wrong, but they don't have shit on Megadeth, <snip>.

Except Metallica are entertaining live where as Megadeth could be replaced with 4 stone statues of the members with the album master pumped out on the speakers.

Sorry but the Big 4 on Bluray totally killed any interest I have in seeing Megadeth live (thier music is good, particularly Tornado of Souls (with Marty playing off course).

Haha I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that. I've seen some youtube clips of various live shows from them and Dave always looks like he's ready to say fuck it and leave. He just looks bored as hell up there.

Needs more Jump in the Fire.

Damn it, they should play that masterpiece more often.

Probably one of my favourite songs when I saw them live in Melbourne last year. Was pretty in-different about the song previously, but live, it was near orgasmic (and neck snapping).

The other hit for me was I Disappear. Always had a soft spot for this rare track and was blown away that they decided to put it in their set list.

Load is my favorite Metallica album.

Come at me bros.

Load isn't bad. I guess it gets a lot of hate because it sounds so different, but it certainly isn't bad.

...But it's no MoP, AJFA, or RTL.

I like Metallica. I've seen them live a couple times. MoP is of course, a masterpiece in metal history, and is probably my favourite Metallica album. I must have watched their Rock AM Ring performance (where they played MoP front to back without a break) a thousand times. Orion is amazing.

I remember my parents raised eyebrows when I asked for MoP as a b'day present when I was only a kid (though their eyebrows damn near fell off when I brought home RATM years later, not that they ever stopped me listening to it, to their credit...)

But to my point: I fucking love St. Anger. I love the ridiculous corniness of Invisible Kid lyrics. I fucking love "tick tick tick tick tick tick tock". I love the 'coke-can' drum sound and the way they contrast to the other sounds.

So there.

Very true, because Load is great while AJFA is a snoozefest with terrible production and overtly long songs that don't go anywhere

The only "fact" here is that Megadeth fans will always take the opportunity to shit on Metallica and vice versas. It's fucking annoying because I happen to enjoy both

No matter how old we all get, it will go on forever

Yeah, I don't agree with this at all. While Megadeth are certainly less mobile on stage than any band that features a crab walking Robert Trujillo in their line-up, I'd take Megadeth over Metallica live any day.

I find Megadeth's calalogue multitudes better. I also hate how Metallica butchers their older material, especially Lars. Yeah, dave's feet are largely planted in front of his microphone for most of the set, and a lot of their stage moves are sometimes cheesily choreographed (and not in a fun way), but the songs are just too good to not triumph at the end of the day.

I still want a Big Four show I can afford to attend.

Yeah, well, fuck Megadeth.

So I saw them yesterday at Rock in Rio live, my first concert with them ever, I never was a fan of them but they are a big part of my childhood...

...and it was fucking awesome, I don't know how else to describe it.

The start is just fucking weird. Its like he is the narrator of the Twilight Zone but once Hetfield starts singing it gets bearable.

At least this gives them a chance to do something not-Metallicaish before they start recording(?) Death Magnetic II

Listening to Bleeding Me. Gotta be one of if not their best post-Black Album songs. So many great songs on Load/ReLoad, underrated albums, particularly the former.

They arent really underrated at all. Metal and hardcore Metallica fans just dont like them because they arent 'metal'.

I expected Loutallica to be bad, but holy shit. Holy fucking shit. This is completely horrible. Who the Hell thought this was a good idea?
It's funny because I'd much rather listen to this than most of the music people linked in The Metal thread. And I've found lots of actually good bands browsing YouTube.

Anyway, I guess people can say I'm a Metallica fan, but even I have limits to what I listen to. I don't like Load or Reload, only like 10 songs combined. And it's not that because they're not like the older stuff or it's not metal, it's simply because I don't like most of the songs. I only like half of Black, but I do like St. Anger. This Loutallica gives high hopes for the next Metallica-only album which they're writing as we speak.

ditto. Seen them both live multiple times. Metallica tries too hard to get the crowd into it. Like James saying, ok when i raise my arms you all cheer! and he starts from like the ground up going up and down as the crowd goes up and down with him. Super annoying.

Whereas megadeth lets their music and play of said music get the fans into it.
I would say the same about slayer, no bullshit, no frills just play the fucking music.

I would also say both Megadeth and Slayer A) change up their list more and B) know which songs their fans like the most.

I'm listening to Demo Magnetic for the first time right now.

I gotta be honest, a lot of the songs I a little better. There are some weird lyrics, but its pretty cool!

Musically that should have been on the album. It's better than at least 3 of the songs that made it.

Lyrically and the way James sings some of it? Ehhhhh...not as much I guess.

Edit: After listening to it for about 5 minutes, I was bored out of my mind. It starts off decently, but it just ends up as samey and boring. I can see why they left this off 'Death Magnetic', and opted to release it now to divert attention from their 'Lulu' bomba
Still in my first listen, but agree that it was a good cut. Lyrics are a bit cheesy, but opening is great and solo is killer.

Regardless, AWESOME surprise from the MetClub this AM, especially since I didn't win tickets to any of the shows.

Three more to come! \m/

I went to see them in Green Bay a long time ago. A couple of my friends and I went to a hotel near the arena just to waste time before the show and, to our surprise, sitting at the hotel bar was James Hetfield and Cliff Burton hammering down whiskey. (yep. That long ago). We sat next to them and shot the shit for a while. Then got their autographs. They were genuinely nice and down to earth dudes. Cliff died shortly after that.
I don't really listen to them any more but they kicked ass back then. Loudest concert I've ever been to.

Shit, I wish you'd go more in detail about this.

I remember hearing some of these cut songs from preview clips before DM came out. I was wondering where some of them went when it came out. I don't really like this latest one compared to Hate Train though.

Another unreleased song "just a bullet away": http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=167004 I really dig it. Kinda repetitive buy I dig the lyrics and their flow. Also I hope Lars gets new drums for the next album, I cant stand the current ones.

From their show last night: http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=167005

I hope Mustaine shows up some time time this week :)

That song was better than most tracks on Death Magnetic. I especially dig the instrumental section. WTF Metallica, this is the track you cut? Fuuuuu

Don't hurt me Gaf.
