I've changed - PSOne visuals hold up better than N64 ones

It really worked somewhat like this...

N64
Could do maybe 1800 textured polys at 30fps at 320x240. Certainly drew the most modern polys out there. Texture correction to stop warping, texture filtering to stop pixelization, z-buffer to allow cut throughs and long draw distances, mip mapping to stop texture moray at a distance, texture tiling, etc.

Wasnt Mario 64 quoted by the dev to be pushing 15000 polys?

although devs have been known to exagerrate (factor5?)

Rehosted... and Happy New Year everyone! :)

Thanks! Dayum, these new screenshots can even pass for today's games! Frickin' Sweet. FFIX looks the most improved from it then Zelda comes in a close second.

This remembered me what I hated the most of N64...The fucking lack of geometry. The day I played MGS I was very surprised and I changed my mind about what I considered better. That game looked like the REAL thing.

Fix each console back to its disadvantages and it's not so glaring. Not to mention that PSX games, above all else, look significantly worse. FFIX looks hot on emu. Goodness.

Something is wrong with you.

Probably. Now it looks like crap but at the moment it was released MGS was the most involving gaming experience. The graphics were pretty good but the whole direction is what it made it so realistic.

I see what you mean then. I played MGS a couple years later. By then I considered it pretty rough around the edges, though it still looked good.
