It's not just the house shows though, they make bank on merch and some of the NXT guys are merch machines without even being on TV, e.g. Balor. I just find it suspect they'd sign all these guys to a money-bleeding promotion, really. One way or another they have to be making some kind of money to have a ton of guys who are apparently only there for the NXT brand itself.

I have no doubt Vince is willing to lose a little money to kill the ability of ROH or New Japan to make any headway in the US.

Styles and Nakamura don't need to be wrestling in NXT in a month or two or whenever. Their backs have been fucked for months (Nakamura's back has been fucked for 3 years now). They need rest, and the only chance they had of that anytime soon was staying there, where their schedule wasn't insane
