The second one was alright as well, might be shit though now been ages since i watched it.

First one was decent and still holds up like you say.

What made the first so creepy was the desolate and aloneness the main characters were in. "The middle of nowhere."

At a big ole carnival with lots of people takes that spooky charm away.

Even the second one was like that only. Football team stuck in a bus on a road in the middle of nowhere.
While the first one was great, I enjoyed the atmosphere in the second one too.

From what I remember the sequel had the kinda awesome scene where the dad (and surviving brother?) wait the fucker out from his 22 year sleep or whatever and capture and torture him in the future.
