[Jez Corden Article] Inside the risky strategy that will define Xbox's next decade

Yeah PC only for that controller
The best part of that controller is you put the 2.4ghz USB dongle into a hidden port in the base, then you connect the base to the PC.

The controller charges via the dock's pogo pins, and if you remove it, it finds the dongle automatically, and shuts off when you put it back into the dock. Extremely elegant solution that I completely love!

imo MS is just prolonging going 3rd party with a subscription service and shutting down their digital store.
It's too expensive to keep people's digital libraries forever, especially when they are not selling hardware well and Steam is dominating PC.
People that have $100s-1000s of money invested in xbox digital games are gonna be so pissed when that day comes.
Why would it be too expensive?

I have always loved Xbox but honestly... Why am I going to spend a grand on an Xbox (+250 or so for gamepass yearly) when I can buy a PlayStation that plays PlayStation and Xbox games?

Buying a PS and buying the Xbox games I actually want would save me hundreds a year. Seems like a no brainer.

Likely there last holdouts would be those who have a large Xbox library that they still like to dive into from time to time.

All those downloads gotta be hosted in storage. Pay for transmission of data. etc. I don't think any company will just eat that cost without having a sustainable platform.
Eh, I bet it would be a rounding figure for MS. Don't think you have to worry about the games going away, the big question is will there be hardware that can play them.

MS drops things like a bad habit. If you look at windows phone or mixer. They closed mixer almost overnight after spending millions on Ninja and Shroud.
It would be a pretty big price, gotta keep maintaining all that equipment too. Hell they might have it all at just a few data centers that they could shut down entirely and have lots of savings.

All i wanna know is how the fuck phil still has a job

Looks like it’s too late for a change , in my opinion he and others should of been replaced years ago but from the outside looking in, it seems like a collective thing, Microsoft/Xbox division have handled things poorly to say the least and he has been one problem of many

How anyone could sincerely laud the man is beyond me given the end product overall.

This generation was supposed to be his influence according to some fans a sort of fresh start and it says a lot really what they decided to bring to market.

They try and enter markets and then cut and run if they don't get traction.
They have been in gaming for decades now - unless they bow out of gaming completely they aren't gonna burn their users to save on a little bit of cloud storage.

They've been switching strategies constantly for at least a decade now because they have no idea what they're doing. This one will fail as well.

Also, them going up against Steam continues to be totally laughable. They will get completely crushed in humiliating fashion.

Not really.

Bothers me more that I have massive bear paws for hands and when I rest the pads of my thumbs on the PS sticks the tips of my thumbs tend to bump into each other.

I have tried repositioning my thumbs better but so many years of Xbox controller being my go to its just not natural

All the extra feature on the dual sense I just shut off 90% of the time so that’s no advantage

Then when it comes to the pro style controllers I prefer the 4 paddles on the elite vs the 2 on the back of the DS Edge

So for me personally its really not even close which controller I prefer
I use both and I like the 4 paddles of the elite but for me the sticks are more comfortable on Playstation, but I prefer the shape of the DS4 instead of the dualsense

It’s not about diving into it from time to time. It’s about not completely lose access to decades of purchased content.

Tbh I’m pissed at their ”This is an Xbox” ad. It’s a blatant lie. Even on Windows they don’t have a working official emulator for games bought on Xbox, 360, Xbox Live Arcade, XB1, XBS.

They can do that ad when I can log into my Xbox account and play my purchased games from all their consoles without cloud streaming through their Xbox app perfectly emulated.

This just gets more and more pathetic.

Xbox has already fucked themselves in the hardware market. They will now fail with everything else, because all of the competition is better at it than they are.

Sad little dudes like Jez remain shackled to a dying platform.
