Jimmy Kimmel calls out deceptive Republicans over Graham-Cassidy Obamacare repeal

I don't think they care about people calling. Why would they? They already know their health care bills have been polling at like 15% approval. If 15% approval won't slow them down, why would calls matter?

Phone calls show that, more than mere dislike, people actually care. You're probably a little less likely to pass garbage legislation if you know for a fact that a mob will be standing outside your office's doors with signs.

Its sad when a late night comedian TV host gets it more than the politicians do. More people with his influence need to be speaking out more.

For most senators and congresspeople who simply don't give a shit, that's true. But there are a small handful who are influenced by constituent calls. And when a bill like this can be passed or killed by just three votes, those calls can make all the difference.

The party isn't but individual people can be moved.

I think the politicians get it. That's the most concerning thing. They get it more than anyone does, their interests lie in different places however. Some of them are well in the "I got mine" category where they only care about protecting big business by lowering corporation tax, introducing caps to the amount an insurance company needs to pay, subsidising employment etc. Where as others care about helping joe public.

Separating the 2 can be difficult because one side will lie straight to your face to look like they are in the latter category and will then bombard you with a 200 page dossier on the action they will take to help joe public. However what is contained in the 200 page dossier is the strategy for how they are going to protect big business by screwing over joe public. The media needs to be doing the hard work like Jimmy did in this instance to squirrel out the facts and protect the public from letting them wear people down to the point where they don't give a shit so they vote for the guy with the best sound bite.

Do some research, learn the facts and don't let this shit stand.

oh wow that wizard of oz reference in the background with somebody off camera whistling "If I only had a brain" haha

surprised the cohosts weren't more outraged. that guy was spouting garbage.

When is that not the case though? Being too outraged probably would've meant a suspension from that cesspool of a show, especially in 2009.

They're always full. Try both their local and DC offices

I'd recommend sending emails as well because why not? it's easy.

Awesome job by Kimmel, hopefully it works and makes people start calling who otherwise wouldn't. This "healthcare" bill is sickening.

I like how hosts and production crew laughed it off like, "Oh Brian, you silly white supremacist, you."

They even played fucking wacky sound effects.

I read the Yahoo comments on this story...it was a mistake. Just as bad as YT comments lol.
Yahoo was one of the main sites where the masses of the Internet congregated before there was Youtube and other social media that they migrated to, so yeah.

Best part is that kimmel attacks specific points of the bill and the deception involved

Republicans attack kimmel.

This is pretty much what happened with trump and Hillary. When you got no leg to stand on, attack the source. Thank god kimmel is way more charismatic for this to immediately work

I sent emails to both of my horrible GOP senators here in NC. I will get a form reply that states how important it is we repeal ObamaCare at all costs because it's failing. They are horrible people whose pockets are full are money from all the special interests stuffing their bank accounts. They do not care about anyone other than themselves. Fucking Tillis was one of 22 senators to sign a statement urging the PO
TU
S to pull out of the Paris Agreement.

YOU LIVE IN A STATE WITH HUNDREDS OF MILES OF SHORELINE THAT IS CONSTANTLY DECIMATED BY EROSION, YOU DUMB MOTHERFUCKER.

But I sent them emails anyway, knowing it was useless. They are scum.

Every damn time.

They have nothing. Kimmel is 'Hollywood elite', 'not a serious person' or whatever. There is nothing legitimate about Republican politics.
