DDOS my site if old.

I'm going to watch this as soon as I can but I'm a bit nervous about it.

My hype for NMS was huge and I'm happy with what I got because I feel like I knew what I was getting into. But the comunity that developed around the game was unreal and I think parts of this Jimquisition are going to hit pretty close to home.

They are still not as bad as Dark Souls fans.

One thing pointed out by Jim I I also noticed, some ferocious defenders of the game were reporting very low numbers of hours played days after launch. I said before, more hours commenting about the game than playing it practically, despite the game being beyond perfect.

Just watched it and he's right.
I fell for the hype and the games disappointed me but I've asked Sony for a refund and I'll purchase Deus Ex instead.
I can't see Sean Murray fixing this game, he's made his money because the game was a full release, not an alpha then beta.

He's allowed to hate a game and be funny while doing it.

For me, NMS turned out better than I thought. I've been playing a ton of it. And, it's addictive. There is a lot more lore and narrative than I expected, which is awesome.

This isn't about the game, the video isn't anyway.

I'm having a blast with the game so far. I always knew I would like it more than some of my friends who were really hyping up the game as well mainly because they had some widely unrealistic expectations of it. It's pretty much those early-access survival games set in space.

I know, but it's clear he's not a fan, and that's OK! I agree with him in that there is no place for such toxic supporters. I can't comprehend how people can get so invested in a game that they can't even accept someone may have a differing view.

Oh, I get you then. Glad there are people that still have a level head about this.

The toxic people are shits, and giving out death threats is unforgivable. I hope they face the consequences of those actions.

I think the best part of this video starts at 9:50 re: the hype culture. I completely agree with this. It's spot on.

jumping to conclusions already people.

The video is about rabid fanbases not the game itself.

he's completely right the hype and resulting outrage around this game (and other games) has been truly embarrassing.

And? Wrong thread?

Great video, goes to show how truly disgusting and out of hand the hype culture has gotten such that it produces these kind of insane fans. It's embarrassing.

Haven't played the game and have no opinion on it either way. Jim's a clever guy, but awfully rude. I suppose people seem to enjoy that though.

great video that makes some extremely relevant points even forgetting about the more rabid NMS fans. the part that pisses me off most is the mobilization of these rabid fans by the companies themselves for personal gain. you see it all the time, not limited to just games. some of these big companies just love to fan the flames and get an us vs. them thing going on about their product. they basically use the passionately flawed subset of their fanbase as for profit puppets. it's pretty gross.

I absolutely love this man, I only recently discovered his channel and I've enjoyed every video he has put out.

You guys are still talking about No Mans' Sky? Boglin Watch 2016 is an official segment now! Let's all focus on that!

That's not what the video is about. It's about a certain small subset of the fanbase and how they chose to deal with any criticism or setback the game might have had.

To be fair, the DDOS may be the result of people who are having fun stirring up both sides.

Because, really, both sides are being ridiculous. For every fan who won't accept criticism, there's a detractor who is going over the top with attacks.
