This #FACE turn has done nothing for Dolph except show us how bad he is on the mic and how much has to rely on mic pieces (i.e. Vickie) to really put his character over to the people in the crowds who didn't watch his YT show and don't like any aspect of him whatsoever. You can make as many "funny" tweets and YT videos you want, but don't expect that to be the only thing you need to do to display your character with. You need to be able to show and tell the character and your motivation to the audience via a microphone during backstage interview, post match interview, and any live event. Not saying any of this is easy; it's just what I (a stranger on the interwebs who has never wrestled or talked on the mic ever in her life) think about Dolph. I don't hate him; I just think he is stale right now and I feel I need I break from him *shrugs*

Also, stop tweeting passive aggressive stuff about the company you work for. It gets you nowhere and people will think less of you because of it.

Now on to on topic stuff:

He deleted it though :(

On the bright side, you still have the screenshot.

Dolph is fine on the mic sometimes, but honestly who cares, he'll never get pushed again since management doesn't like him to the point that they'll make up stupid bullshit like "he's injury prone"

He'll get his breakout moment in 10 years time during his fake retirement speech.

Also this Billy & Chuck tag team started way earlier than I thought. It must have lasted nearly 2 years.

I think that's the saddest thing about Dolph's career: He'll probably never be pushed again. He'll either be released, choose to leave, or retire while being on the midcard or somewhere lower.

Backstage stuff can get way too petty sometimes.

Yo Duncan, I saw How to Train Your Dragon 2. I liked it but I dunno if I liked it better than the first one.

The art design and Hiccup's

slayed tho.
It's OK, he replied again!

Me and JeremyBorash are superbestfriends now. I'm going to buy him a bottle of Newcastle Brown Ale.

Huh. At least he's honest with himself.

Well, you have a connection to someone that works at TNA; I bet you're just beaming right now. You can get the low down on everything TNA and more.

Lucky ducky.

So Daniel Bryan vs. Wyatt at Royal Rumble and Daniel Bryan vs. HHH at Mania are still the best WWE PPV matches of the year so far or have I missed any other?

i quoted you and then i saw the spoiler and.....i'll be okay. super bummed but it's not your fault, it was mine.

how's the music in it?

Shield v Wyatts are up there as well.

The Roman Reigns hate has totally soured Wrassle GAF for me. After decrying the lack of new stars being properly built up for years, they have gradually built up a future mega star very carefully for two years and he hasn't dropped the ball once in that time. He's athletic, performed well in the ring so far (and has improved in the ring at a dramatic rate), has a fantastic look (and yes, this will always matter), and has the fans well and truly on board.

He's a star that has enormous drawing potential in the future and if you can't see that then quit complaining and go back to watching indie wrestling in school gyms because the WWE is never going to be for you. No one wanted to see Batista back in the main event but to compare Reigns to a 45 year old part timer, is absurd.

Meanwhile, we have a former indie darling being positioned as the top heel in the company and guaranteed the top belt at some point over the next 12 months. He's also currently in a main event feud with another indie darling and both guys have been very carefully protected and built up over a 2 year period as well.

The music's pretty good; it fit the different moods and scenes of the movie well.

They actually spoiled that in the trailer which was pretty dumb since that was supposed to be the big "surprise". Smh.

I think you should still see it regardless. It's still a pretty good film.

I'd recommend both Evolution v Shield matches from Payback and Extreme Rules.

Batista has had more good singles matches. Dude is young, but he's yet to have that match where I can look at him and think "Yes, that's the guy". There's still time obviously and I was wrong about someone like Tyler Breeze who I just thought was a gimmick and didn't have an excellent match in him. Goddamn did he prove me wrong, hopefully Roman does the same.

Do we? Love Cesaro, but Wrestlemania should have been his coming out party. INstead, they just look like they don't know what the fuck to do with him. "Uhhhhhh stick him with Hayman... Uhhhh, Kofi feud... Uhhhh EYE PATCH NOW WE GOT IT". I hope they figure it out soon... Brock/Cesaro feud? HNNNNGGG

You know what I've really soured on? The disparaging attitude some people around here and on the internet in general have towards indie wrestling - it's always high school gyms and bingo halls with these people. Like the fact that a promotion's running a National Guard Armoury matters more than the fact that there's a rabid, sold-out crowd loving the action they've paid good money to see, rather than sitting on their hands.

Also, it's entirely possible to see Roman's potential but, at the same time, not be entirely sold on him as a top-level performer. For me, I need to see more of him in the ring, in a greater variety of matches and I'd like to see him add some more basic moves to his war crate. He's got his moves of doom down, now he just needs to work on the stuff in between.

Other things I've really soured on; the phrase "indie darling" and the idea that there's some sort of WrassleGAF hive-mind.

I think he means Seth but yeah it's a too early to say if it's guaranteed that he'll be a top heel in WWE. I love him but things can change from being in your favor one moment to being against you in the next like we've seen with Bryan :/

I'll never understand this attitude either. Why does something like the venue, whether it be a large arena or a gym, where a wrestling show, promotion or whatever is held matter? If your here to see good wrestling; you're just here to see good wrestling.

It's suspect. Like the people who say this kind of stuff have never seen or been to an indy show.

Hmm...

Oh yeah, I forgot Seth was an indie darling heel. He's in a great position right now because he's slightly above average on the mic, but he's got HHH to do some of his talking and Ambrose to play off of. Hopefully he continues to impress after that.

Cesaro is probably my favourite competitor on the roster and I'm completely with you about how he's been badly handled but I was talking about Rollins. Rollins and Reigns have both been booked fantastically since their introduction 2 years ago though.

I've got nothing against indie wrestling it's simply not something that appeals to me. I live in north east England so I can't watch quality indie wrestling live with any regularity so I'd be forced to watch it on video. School gyms with terrible lighting and a single camera simply doesn't translate well to video. If you can get past that, then great, but it is a defining characteristic and it does damage the product. Wrestling has always been about more than just two guys, a ring and a referee. The stories, the live crowd, TV production, lighting, ring entrances and the overall presentation and spectacle are huge parts of what makes a quality wrestling product. The venues and production of indie wrestling are presented as a negative aspect of indie wrestling because they are a negative aspect of indie wrestling. Defend the parts of the product that are with defending, don't try and pretend that a shitty part of the product doesn't genuinely detract from the experience of the product for many fans, because it does.

When most of the best indie stars are now ending up in NXT anyway, I'd rather wait until I can watch these guys on there.

If you can get past all those flaws in indie wrestling (especially if you can regulary watch it live) yet you can't get over someone like Reigns getting a gradual push to the top of the WWE then I genuinely believe that the indie brand of wrestling is better suited to you. Someone with the look, athleticism and natural star power of Reigns will always receive a push in the WWE. That push could be mishandled or rushed too soon and too quickly but that's not a critiscm you can lay at the WWE when it comes to Reigns. If you're not happy with how Reigns has been handled then you'll never be happy with the WWE product.

He's already the top heel. As for Bryan, we are taking about the same Daniel Bryan that was in an unprecedented two matches in the biggest show of the year, beating a genuine WWE legend and winning the top belt to close the show? I'd hardly call that being out of favour........

Bryan has had a fantastic run and that only came to an end because of a serious injury. Even Cena would have had to drop the belt in the same scenario.

The problem is that Bryan was made to look like a weak piece of shit right after winning the title

He was booked against a monster that needed some heat to be seen as a genuine threat and Bryan's character has always worked better as the under dog. I don't know how else you could have booked that feud? Bryan still won clean when it mattered and anyone holding the top belt is never going to look weak. He would have held the belt until at least Summer Slam of he didn't require surgery.

That's the thing, it's the assumption of shows filmed in school gyms with a single camera under terrible lighting that gets me - indie wrestling is often perceived as that and, while there are certainly promotions set-up that way, there are numerous companies out there that DO make the effort to present their product in a more professional manner. Here's an example, Chapter 13 from PROGRESS Wrestling - they released it for free because one of the three cameras they use in their set-up malfunctioned;

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=it2coTptmlM

Even with no hard camera, it's still a professional looking set-up, well lit and filmed in front of 700+ fans in a packed night club in the heart of London - sure, it's not on WWE's level, but a world away from the scene you're describing.

So what did everyone think of Reigns in his Smackdown singles match against Rusev? Man, when you rely on someone like Rusev to carry the match until you can pull off your three moves ...

I never thought I'd be so happy to see Orton run in outta nowhere.

Eh it wern't to bad, Rusev is pretty underrated in terms of ring work and thankfully it was a quick match. Not sure why Reigns refuses to learn any more than 4 moves at this point when he's been wrestling for 4 years now though. Just seems like he's got a complete mental block or something.

There's just been three quality shows in the North-East over the last month! There was a show at the newly refurbished NE6 Suite in Walker, and there was a 'free' wrestling show with the Vamos Festival at the Toffee Factory in Newcastle. Before that there was a show at the Riverside, Newcastle which had one of the last appearances by Prince Devitt before he (probably) leaves for WWE.

Outside of those shows you have Callingspots Fanzine and maffewgregg both from the North-East doing a great Fanzine and of course Botchamania. There's a ton of great stuff in the North-East, you just have to know where to look!

Tidelwave Wrestling will be back in Walker soon, and their usual shows go between Darlington and Leeds.

I knew about the ICW one with Devitt and considered going but cost/time/convincing others put me off in the end but what sort of quality can I realistically expect at the others?

This. Don't say anything negative about Michael Elgin on twitter, unless you're willing to get into a full-blown argument with him.

You get some humorous replies from others, like Biff Busick for example. And don't forget the ones who retweet every single piece of praise they get *cough*Ricochet*cough*.

Vamos always put on a fun show, as it's a part of the Mexican festival that happens every year. It's funny as you'll get some top UK talent hamming it up slightly and donning a lucha persona.

Tidalwave surprised me with just how good it was, so I'll recommend them for sure.

There's Pro-Rad Wrestling in South Shields, which I've not seen but Carbon is their main guy and I've seen him wrestle before. He's a good guy, does a lot of fun stuff (AJ Styles is his hero!).

Tidal Wrestling shows:
Sept 6th and Nov 7th Darlington Dolphin Centre, November 16th Walker NE6 Suite

It seems like he's going to get the Cena-lite type of match. Gets his ass beat for 10 minutes with a random apron dropkick in between, then he gets hot at the end with a superman punch and spear. Fin.

But even with that, Cena was doing singles for a few years before getting that first world title.

Backstage stuff can get way too petty sometimes.

the more i think about it, the more i hate Lesnar vs Cesaro. Cesaro was in a heel joke tag team not long ago, had to do a face spot to get some heat and all the heat he had from doing that spot is gone since he joined Heyman. he's kayfabe US/IC title level, Lesnar got no time for that.

last Lesnar appearance should always be putting Reigns over.

Shame cause ring wise it would be a fun match-up but Cesaro is B tier and Lesnar is God tier in terms of perception. Cesaro is the level of wrestler now that Lesnar has to murder rape and pillage or ignore.

Brain stew, there's always seats on the Roman War Wagon with Lambda and myself.

If WWE didn't have better propsects like Rusev, Ambrose, Cesaro, Rollins- I'd see your point.

WWE has so much young talent right now that someone like Reigns is about the 4th or 5th best option of someone to strap the rocket to.

I don't hate Reigns, I just don't see him as any better than say, Test, in a much stronger era of young studs than when Test was one.

What Reigns deserves right now is the IC belt to build him up slowly, maybe with a goal of giving him the title in the Elimination Chamber (I'd be booking towards an Ambrose rumble run, Reigns EC win, and Rollins cashing in for a WM Triple Threat)
