July Wrasslin |OT| The Game, The Kane, The Pain, and The Insane (AJ)

I find it sort of hilarious/adorable that people actually (pretend to) care about the anonymous GM reveal.
Don't get me wrong, it was stupid, but it was never a good angle anyway, so don't pretend that they Kevin Nash'd a hot storyline.

Shit Raw, you could tell it was shitty because Eve had one of the best segments of the night (words I thought I'd never write)

Except her storyline revolves around which guy she wants to be her boyfriend. It's not like WWE is breaking down gender barriers really.

Honestly, they're still playing it well enough (besides the #AJAll nonsense) that I haven't turned on the angle yet. The wedding nonsense was a dangerous line to cross, but they seem to still be playing with the tropes rather than falling into them.

HAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA

Yup. I'm out too. So long, WWE.

I've seen this post before

Anyone else think that, by qualifying Kidd, they've now launched him oh so awkwardly into midcard with no real intention except for him to be the new Sakamoto punching bag?

I can only assume, since WWE will never give Kidd a real feud, that they're doing this so that Kidd will "retaliate" with some big move (OBVIOUSLY NOT A WIN) in the MitB match.

Pretty sure we're all agreed that the three involved, esp. Bryan and AJ make the storyline work. But on paper, by GAWD, it really shouldn't be working.

Seriously, were this the storyline between Eve, Cena and Ryder (we came really close to this) it would never have been good.

But as in all WWE, they're running it into the ground because they never look past their next milestone (LETS GET IT ALL OUT OF THE WAY BEFORE MITB, VINCE YELLS. and, after that WE NEED THIS STORYLINE WRAPPED AT THE 1000TH RAW. And then, SUMMERSLAM DAMNIT!)

Cranky Vince convinced me this is how these meetings actually go

I always thought the anonymous GM crap was childish, but my problem was them wasting so much time on it. An entire segment dedicated to Hornswoggle's reveal? It's a waste of valuable TV time. The only problem with the AJ angle, to me, is that they've played the "Whose side is she on?" stuff for too long. I understand that the sooner she reveals who it is, it's the sooner that this angle must end, and they don't know what to do with such a hot talent (AJ) after that. Their problem has always been ending angles, so they want to avoid it for as long as possible. However, the pacing has been terrible. She went weeks prancing around the ring to distract. . . . . . . someone, then it went fast for a week, and since then she's been doing the same thing over and over again. The pacing has just been off. The angle is still relatively good, but you can sort of feel the wheels coming off. Hopefully, they can still keep it together, but who knows?

I marked hard for her telling it like it is (obviously)

I didn't, because it was the WWE putting those words in their mouth. It's them that buried Punk for a year and it's them that are now using it against him in a promo.

And everybody's supposed to go: "HAH, YOU TELL 'IM EVE!" When we should be going: "Seriously, WWE? Fucking fix your booking and long-term storytelling!"

A timely release from ROH;

http://www.rohwrestling.com/product/austin-aries-evolution-double-2-disc-set

Really awesome set, with some great matches - his title win against Joe, the match against Shelley for control of Generation Next, a couple of awesome tag title matches teaming with Strong and his excellent Best of 3 series with D-Brine. Definitely picking this one up.

I wish they would do digital releases, I'd pay to download this directly to my computer/iPad :/ Might still pick it up though.

Former WWE talent Serena Deeb, 26, was arrested on July 8, 2012 in Tampa, Florida for operating a vessel while intoxicated. Her crime was categorized as BUI—Boating Under the Influence.

Deeb appeared for WWE in 2010 as a member of the CM Punk-led Straight Edge Society, a group which promoted and abided to abstinence and discipline—primarily no smoking, drinking, or drugs. The faction acted as a militant organization, denouncing all people who didn’t practice the straight edge lifestyle, even those who also abstain from substance abuse. Her contract was terminated in August of that year, with WWE sources cited to the Pro Wrestling Torch saying that she was not maintaining the gimmick’s image in public.

Deeb continued to wrestle independently following her release from WWE. She took an indefinite break from the profession in October 2011 after suffering a serious concussion in a match and now works as a yoga instructor.

We need SES Punk back.

I dunno, I just sort of expect X amount of kiddy crap in any televised wrestling. I much preferred Detective Santino seeking out the mysteries of old wrestle crap than a Brodus match or a Lawler/Cole match. Sadly we got all three last night.

They have this pacing issue on every single story in the past few years. For some reason they have the idea that the main event angles need to be the driving angles on every single episode of every single television show. Really, when you're dealing with main event talent they should be going by a "less is more" approach, wherein they let little bits and pieces on television and then save big developments for pay-per-view matches.

Even Cena wouldn't be so stale if he didn't appear every god damned week.

They're acknowledging the problem and they are laying the foundations of the Punk/Cena feud.

They have a terrible habit lately (the last few years) of doing something stupid, then pointing out how stupid what they did was like it was someone else's fault.

Cena and Cole are major sources of this.

In 2 weeks there will be 5 hours (not counting Superstars/NXT & Main Event in October)

If anything any one segment can be throw-away because THERE IS SO GODDAMN MUCH OF IT
Whatever the reason, it's their decision to do so, and thus, the burden of quality television is on them.

That's just low expectations, due to all the shit we've seen over the years.

Which they will rush through in 4 weeks and never make any deeper, because Punk still needs to sell his merchandise, so they can't really have him oppose Cena too much.

The only way 3 hour RAWs every week can work is with extensive planning. You can't throw something together in rewrites the day before RAW and expect to fill 180 minutes with stuff that will keep ratings steady.

But Vince is obsessed with hiring 40 writers or so, then throwing out the multitude of stuff they come out with in favour of last second rewrites that kill all attempts at a coherent/cohesive TV show. It makes you wonder why he has so many writers if he basically just writes the shows himself anyway.

So I can't see this move ending up as anything other than an expensive attempt at a quick fix that lasts for a couple of months only.

All jokes aside, I'm really curious to see how WWE takes Raw to 3 hours.

It's full of enough filler as is, and if recent shows have been an indication then 3 hours might just be too long - especially with their love of squash /random match ups.

Maybe... now this is a little crazy, but maybe they'll have longer matches?

I imagine this could end up the only way for them to fill the time. They have their skits, their commercials, their long promos and video packages, they take up most of RAW normally, with about a quarter to a third left for match time at most. When you suddenly have an extra 60 minutes (since you know they're somehow going to still run into overtime), I can only assume adding another 5-10 minutes to matches is an easy way to fill it.

Having more wrestling on this wrestling show is a revolting prospect to Vince of course.

A funny thing is with this kind of huge move, you'd normally worry about it but then think "well, I'm sure they factored all of this in before making the decision, so they're gonna have something ready to use the extra time, it's just logical. Someone there asked all these questions already"

But with WWE I can't be sure that even happened. I can't assume someone asked the big questions about the 3 hour move and they said "well this and this will be used in the extra hour". With how they run it nowadays, I am closer to assuming they thought of the move to 3 hours first, then planned to think of ways to fill it weekly later on.

I tried last night. After the excellent Destination X ppv I was really craving some more wrestling. So I tuned into Raw and after two marriage proposals and the announcement of the Lawler/Cole match I turned it off. I just can't bother anymore. I want wrestling and wwe just isn't that.

So I've decided that my next course of action to charm AJ into dating me should be by starting a Mortal Kombat games collection: http://img842.imageshack.us/img842/3640/20120710175515.jpg

I'm pretty well underway, still need a hard copy of MK2 though, but I guess the digital PSN version will do.

Now, all I need to do is go to Tampa and find out where I can "conveniently" run into her without Trent Beretta being around. That and a casual way to bring up MK or MGS.

Not even debuted yet and already losing their top draw. Must suck.

Same thing happened to EVOLVE, except Bryan left for WWE before their debut event.

I'd expect them to focus on Mercedes Martinez going forwards (although she also received a WWE try-out at the same time as Sara, but no word on a contract), or to bring in Cheerleader Melissa.

Forgot about Bryan.....lost both Bryan and Davey around that first event. He at least got his time with Bryan later though.

Ah well, woes of the indies I guess.

BTW, did you all notice how bad the signs were yesterday? This one was the worst of 'em all:

Whoever told this guy he could draw needs to be put in a legit LeBell Lock.
