Just Cause 3 |OT| Procedural Chaos

If it were me, I'd be going in hard about how poorly optimized the console versions are, but I suspect you are after a more affable line of questioning.

Actually I have a fair amount of that written down since it is subject people have been quite passionate about.

Stuck in performing online login screen. I'm going to leave it as is to see how long it'll last.
I really shouldn't have to go into steam's offline mode to avoid this shit.

I blocked the just cause 3 executable within the windows firewall rather than using steam offline mode. It will try to login the once on boot up of the game but never again.

Right, think I mentioned this before but in about an hour I am interviewing some Square Enix Europe people and I am seeing if anybody here has questions they would want me to ask them about JC3?

Ask them if they'll patch these challenges to be easier to complete so I don't have to sit on a loading screen longer than it takes to do the challenge...

Seriously, ask about the challenges being patched or an easier difficulty move with easier challenges so it isn't a grind to get gears to get the best stuff in the game. It feels like a chore to get the opportunity to have the most chaotic fun.

It's really a shame, because so much of this game's design makes it seem like the devs wanted a much more seamless experience. The cutscenes always ending with Rico's back facing the camera like gameplay is about to start. The challenges dropping you right back into the world after being done, sometimes with loading sometimes without.

I wonder what held them back? Imagine how much more enjoyable the story missions alone would be if the cutscene to gameplay transitions were smooth? The shallow and fleeting cutscenes would seem much more appropriate if they were coming at you that fast.

How is the ps4 version how is it doing during explosions

Depends who you listen to,peoples experiences seem to range from completely unplayable, to serviceable, for me, it's perfectly serviceable, but YMMV

Time, and/or limitations of hardware.

Im thinking about buying the game but has there been any word on a patch for the ps4 that fixes the framerate problems?

So I played around a bit with the DK Pistol (balloon head) last night and decided that I wanted to go back to 'normal' head mode, so I switched it out for something else and reloaded the game. Now I want to use the balloon head thing again to take some fun screenshots and I can't find the gun anymore. It's not where it should be. Any ideas?

Fuck. I was afraid you'd say that.

Yeah, sorry about that. I know your pain. I wish it was simpler as well. I'm really hoping the devs will put in some workaround to easily master challenges. There are plenty of mods I want for my gear but not at the expense of the boring minigames.

On the other hand, you could try calling in the FOW as a rebel drop multiple times although I'm like 90% certain the wait time to call again is very high. So you should probably wait a long time and call again and MAYBE you'll be able to get more ammo.

I am starting to hate the online/offline dynamic in this game. I was playing last night and the game kept dropping the online connection. I would tell it to play in offline mode and then as soon as I opened a menu or the map it would hang up for two to three minutes trying to log in again.

Absolutely maddening.

Where is the option for play in offline and LEAVE IT IN FUCKING OFFLINE?

SO just recorded the interview and it has finished rendering ended up being quite lengthy, about 2 hours with the second hour dedicated to talking about Just Cause 3. I suppose if somebody wants to transcribe the interview for those who can't listen then can have at it.

What is the FOW you all keep referring to?

An airstrike weapon. Point the laser at a target, hold it there, wait for death to rain down.

Thanks, will listen when I get the chance. Really want to hear what they have to say about this game.

What platform are you on?

How long does the rain last? It's been going for like half an hour now. It's costing me like 10fps and it makes the world look bland. (Especially since the skies are still blue...)

I was actually wondering if rain was bugged, because I had several moments where it kept raining forever even when the grey clouds were clearly gone. Kept raining until I [for whatever reason] had to reload.

In other news, has anybody noticed that they actually created a fake language for the country of Medici?

It's mostly a mix of Italian and Latin with some occurrences of Spanish and French.

Ex: Fratre is "brother" in Latin
It's "Frère" in French
And "Fratello" in Italian

Another example is an in-game ad for a car that reads:
"Por separar los homines de les garçons" which translates as "separating boys from men" and it mixes Spanish 'separar" , latin "homines" and French "garçons"

They basically created some kind of new Esperanto by mixing all the Mediterranean languages with Latin roots.

It's the kind of world building detail that I really enjoy

Playing without being connected to the Internet makes this game considerably more enjoyable.

The main missions aren't particularly interesting but they are fun enough. The challenges I've tried have been fun. Not much on the upgrade lists that I want to unlock, though.

Liberating bases is what I enjoy doing the most.

Well I just completed the story missions. The ending is....well it's a bit shit, like the story was but hey ho the game really is all about blowing the shit out of things.

As someone who really enjoyed Just Cause 2, I really want to like this game more then I do...but I don't, really. It seems more like Just Cause 2.5, shooting is still pretty bad, driving is still awful. The wingsuit and new rebel drop systems are great though. But whats really killing the game for me is that to level up via the gears you need to do the awful challenge missions which are the things I never bother touching in open world games because they suck (except Saints Row 2.) Fuck that.

Oh and of course load times are unacceptable PS1 era shit. been pushing 4 minutes sometimes, ps4

Bingo. I've been harping about this for a while. There were much better ways to implement gears/upgrades than the challenges. Also, there are FAR too many challenges. They aren't good to begin with and they went overboard with it. That effort should have gone elsewhere.

I think when it is on sale for cheap on PC I will get that version and use a trainer. IDK if I will complete my PS4 version. This series of all the ones that exist should be one of the ones with the least amount of work to enjoy/have fun with

Does Chaos even do anything? What was the issue of having Chaos be your level up currency...?

I'm only in act 2 of 3 but so far chaos points seem to be absolutely pointless and is just something the developers tabulate for the sake of it. I guess it stuck because chaos had a point in Just Cause 2. Chaos as currency would have been very smart to do. Gives an incentive to keep liberating as opposed to "you can't do this mission without liberating"

Thats fucking pointless. It sucks that something seemingly petty ruins the game for me but I just don't feel like playing it anymore since everytime I play these challenge missions I just immediately lose all interest.

Does going offline help for the loading times in the X1 version too? I would rather play this game on that platform unless the load times are just absurd

Are anybody else's rebel drops broken? I drop stuff on PERFECTLY flat ground and my choppers/planes are always fucking busted. What the hell?

I know how you feel. You aren't alone. There are some cool mods in there I want but the challenges are so punishing. I don't want to keep playing to get 5 gears. They should at least let post game make you master all challenges or something. This is the kind of game that would benefit from a god mode or infinite ammo...etc.

A friend claims this works for him but it could be a placebo effect. Worth a shot.

Known complaint. Some people just can't call in planes. On another forum I saw for someone that planes break 100% of the time in drops

So no official word on a console patch release date?

Not anywhere I have seen. I might be opening an account on the JC forums to ask a out the game and potential patches. There is also a suggestion area. I know we have a member of Avalanche here but dont want to bombard them
