Just played Forza Horizon 4 maxed out at 4k on a 3080

I agree that racing games shouldn't be judged on still shots, because they're not played in still shots. In motion both games look great! Driveclubs effect heavy look is something that I personally really like, but it's a style and it's not the same style as Forza. Photo mode for Driveclub doesn't count at all because it does the old post processing and model replacement tricks, which forza does a lot less of. For the scope of the games, which you have to take into account, I believe Forza Horizon is more impressive graphically.

tl;dr: i dunno, this thread is trash and was started to console war.

Driveclub has washed out colors, last gen colors and a shit framerate. It's all motion blur. Saying Driveclub looks better is like comparing some filtered up whore on Instagram to a woman who's so beautiful in real life she doesn't need makeup.

Never played Driveclub, would buy it if it was still listed, but it is what it is. That being said, looking over the various screenshots and videos it is pretty obvious the game has some things it does extremely well, while it falters at others. Certainly a graphical showcase considering how early in the PS4 lifespan it launched. I still think Horizon 4, looking at the entire package, is the more impressive looking game though. Although, to be fair, it only shines on hardware way more powerful then Driveclub was running on.
 
One thing I will say Microsoft is getting a lot of heat for us dropping forza 7 because of licensing issues, Sony took out the whole drive club VR and nobody said anything. I was really disappointed they did that when you could still buy the game online!

Driveclub is overrated by a certain crowd although the metacritic score for it is actually about right. I wasn't impressed with how it looked when I first played it, the tracks are made up and it still manages to be dull. The car handling is also a bit shit. It was cheap and so was it's DLC, I got my 3 Plats out of it (bikes and VR), easy trophies were about all it was good for. It didn't stack up to Horizon 2 at the time of it's release so it certainly doesn't hold up against 3 and 4. That's why it's dead, RIP.

If you need your mediocre 6/7 out of 10 racer fix then Dirt 5 certainly has shades of Driveclub in it. Weird handling and quite dull.
 
Dc in 4k/60/HDR would look nice. We will maybe get that when there is a working Ps4 emulator.
The ps4 version might look good on a 40 inch led tv. It looks awful on my 55 inch oled (most 30fps games do).

You play games for Plats. Opinion is moot. If I find Barbie's Pet Adventures in your list or Hannah Montana or Terminator, I'm personally going to hurt you by bringing up my Knack Plats.
 
This fact that Driveclub is only (mis)remembered by how it looks is probably the reason why it's delisted today. I wouldn't be surprised if people looked at the gifs/screens of this game more than actually playing it.

It was delisted for licensing issues and who knows if there was something more like demand threats or something. After the online fiasco, no car manufacturer would like to be associated with the game. I'm sure a big shitstorm happened behind the scenes.

So I moved DC over to my PS5s internal drive to give it a spin for the 1st time in years and seriously guys, anyone that thinks this looks better than Horizon 4. Especially if playing on the XSX, possess defective eyesight. DC is beyond ugly as fuck now and runs like crap.

There are plenty of times where you sit still and take in the sights in a racing game, especially in a open world game like Forza. I think Driveclub looks great in motion in those gifs, but man those stills really do look like a last gen game.

now recreate all these screenshots standing still and not using photo mode. at least two of these are taken in photo mode.

so that we can see the graphics without them being blurred beyond recognition by the motion blur and the low framerate

That's not how it looks ingame. I've been playing it right now, and even in my 55'' C9 doesnt look that blurry.
The game may look like that if someone turns the sharpness down to -200.
 
Again, no racing game have yet matched DC's illumination. Doesnt matter if DC lacks in the graphical fidelity, is still the king in realism in this aspect. Is the less gamey looking racing game ever made.

Came back here after seeing the new FH5 gameplay in 4K and it looks so beautiful. As far as realistic looks though, it still goes to Driveclub

How can anyone explain the differences between graphical fidelity (resolution, number of assets on screen) and art style?

Or is just useless for those who just dont want to understand
