Just played Forza Horizon 4 maxed out at 4k on a 3080

sony closed this studio down? im sure they have their reasons but seems like a major mistake to me. that studio could have created a forza horizon type game. look at the graphics on driveclub. imagine what they could have done on PS5.

And do you know majority of evolution people joined PG to work on Forza as they know PG is the racing studio out there

Source of this? as I understand, most of EVO including director Paul "Rushy" Rustchynsky went on to form a new team at Codemasters:

They were mismanaged and underbudgeted to make OnRush, which logicly resulted in a mediocre game that flopped.

Mario Kart is more fun than either. We are good.

Can you elaborate on the onrush team being mismanaged?

I wouldn't call Onrush mediocre in its gameplay and presentation, it's actually super fun and a great technical showpiece. The character art is hideous and the online progression is complete BS though. That part is garbage and inexcusable.

Could've made a much better game, but there's good fun to be had with OR and it looks pretty.

Lmao, the fact this game gets hate even after all these years confirm that most of these people did the intro race and then lost in the hatchback. Most people never bought the DLC or played it after launch. Seething and fuming from the humiliation never picked it up again. But here's your participation trophy for coming 5th in Forza after the intro into the first race. Oooo, spinwheel tyme!

One can play a game is 480p20 fps and say I find this game better looking than a next-gen remake of it running on 1080p60. I am talking about Shadow of Colossus Remake, there was a thread saying the same about even Demon Soul's remake. So OP can say whatever he wants. But is there any sort of objectivity to such an opinion?...NO. Does Driveclub looks better than Forza Horizon?........... Not in a million years. Graphics at the end of the day is the result of the code and available computational hardware and technology. They arent even on the same plane of coding. Hell if any developer of Driveclub saw this thread he would have intervened himself. And I am being very very very moderate.

Codemasters have mismanaged everything besides F1 and Dirt Rally. They didn't give the ex-EVO team proper time or budget to build a really good game. OnRush was rushed, it looked mediocre on a genre where visuals are very important, and thus it flopped. Then they integrated the team with the Project CARS 3 one, another pile of a game that sunk the franchise. Then some people got out of Codemasters entirely. Paul Rustchynsky is currently at Avalanche Studios.

Now that EA bought Codemasters, this is the kind of pathetic cartoony looking soap opera titles with refurbished assets (again) we can expect:

Codemasters worst move was letting the real 'masters' that made Dirt 2 leave the company and go to... Playground to make Forza Horizon. They even made a Rally DLC ffs. :messenger_grinning_smiling:

Dirt 2, 3 and the first Race Driver: GRID. Those were the golden titles of Codemasters, and apart from Dirt Rally and F1 they fucked up everything else after that: Dirt Showdown and GRID 2 were too arcadey and poor, GRID Autosport was decent but came too late and GRID 2019 is just a pile of dogshit.

and Driveclub still looks better

I'm not even trolling, I appreciate Forza's effort though.

Its amazing how they managed to make Driveclub look that great on such limited hardware

So fanboy thread started because you don't want to admit something on xbox & PC is as good as a older sony game?

Pathetic.

They probably didn't manage them well. But I blame Sony more than codemasters for their fate.

Did you play onrush on ps4 pro on a good hdr tv? Game really looks impressive at 60fps.

You are smoking crack. I bought and played some driveclub for first time about two months ago based on reccomendations in this forum. The game doesn't look that good anymore. Maybe in 2014 or whatever but say it's better looking than fh4 is crazy.
Idk what version of Driveclub y'all are playing lol but the game still holds up very well today and yes, I've played FH3 and FH4

FH3 is my favorite racing game of all time

In my experience forza horizon always looks a lot better in tiny pictures than being played on a 4k set. I maxed out the game at 4k and it looks kinda fake to me, the lighting is a bit flat, models are low poly and weird looking, the image quality is dated and sky would look better with volumetrics. Thats why im kinda wary of horizon 5, it looks good on my phone but when i look at the 4k video on my oled the flaws become apparent.
Yeah in my opinion, Forza still hasn't gotten the look of some cars right as far as the lighting and that's my only knock against them. I'm hoping Forza 8 corrects this

An open world GT or Driveclub would print money

No doubt but I guess sony are already happy with all the money the PS brand is making overall. once, their revenue was more than xbox and nintendo combined.

That was absolutely bonkers how much money they made that year. If Sony are smart they will still do an open world racer or a different kind of arcade racer with some amazing graphics

It really doesn't. The game is essentially fucked due to Sony switching servers off without making the game truly offline. Maybe it's coz i played it on an LG CX but I was surprised at how average it is. I can only think that people just have really strong nostalgia for it or something.

Nice try troll, you are doing the same shit you did last year in the next gen racing thread. You like to post those pc low setting zoomed in photomode shots as always. You should try harder next time and if you really think DC looks better post some in game images instead of posting shitty low setting photomode shots of Forza Horizon 4.
this is how it looks in game btw for people wondering

Im still amazed that this thread is still going and the OP is not banned.

OP thinks this looks better than H4 ?
I thought the road textures and shrubbery on the far side of the track were still loading, but that's just how the game looks while in motion LMFAO :messenger_tears_of_joy:

No wonder 90% of the images used to praise DC's visuals are from cockpit view and with the car windshields covered in rain droplets. They don't want you seeing the actual race environments.

Whats the most bizarre is when you even acknowledge that under certain conditions [photo mode + rain effect on + full speed] the game can look ok and yet certain demographic are still unhappy.

When we have holodeck technology, GAF will still have threads about how it's not as good as Drive Club.

I'm not saying the game doesn't have flaws but it's highest highs (which there are a lot of them) are more impressive than most racing games

As usual the driveclub detractors keep on using bad screenshots and lies (small tracks, 6 cars on track, features never worked even after launch etc)

Some games look amazing in screenshots, driveclub isnt one of them. Its a game that needs to be seen in motion, its true that it doesnt have the best IQ and its 30 fps, while absolutely locked, the camera shake (which can be turned off) often mistakes people as stuttering framerate. I have little doubts even the pro could run the game at 60 not to mention the ps5, its a crime it never got a patch.

The shaders, global illumination, cloud simulation, and of course weather were top notch then and still are great and if most of you played for more than 20 minutes would see thats its much more common that is looks amazing rather than bland

This comment sums up everything perfectly!!! You truly have to see the game in motion to appreciate how advanced it was/is

So after reading 7 pages of this thread I decided to go and do some research of my own, booted up Driveclub on my PS5, played for a bit and then did the same with Forza Horizon 4 on my XSX.

After going back and forth for a while I went and booted up my SNES and played some Super Mario kart and damn, this game is just so much fun and looks better than both forza and driveclub, I know it doesn't look like much on screenshots so I won't bother posting them but you have to me believe me, just boot it up and watch it in motion, it's poetry.

This thread is amazing, its hilarious how defensive you are :messenger_tears_of_joy:
Its even funnier seeing how bad your trolling skills are . And i don't know if you're a grown man or not but you act like a insecure teenager.

Ok cool guy that had to try so hard post after post to defend Forza in this thread... :messenger_tears_of_joy:
Insecure troll that try so hard that he had to post fake low pc setting photomode shots because he can't even back up DC. Like i said try harder next time, i have dealt with better trolls than you.

That may be the case, but the diversity bingo is exemplary
