I'm down for a kpop-gaf meetup.

Here's some Jung.

Nice. And dayam, Sica.. Where are those gifs from and is there a video of it?

Yeah, I'm a weirdo who actually pays attention to girls' personality/character and admires them on that level.

Personality? Character? That's a good one, Dice.

Lol. Actually, watching Hyomin on IY turned me off to her for a while. She was way too cringe-inducingly shy. She seems like she's got some swag (and weight) back now, which is a huge plus.

God I hope so. I can't imagine any other ticketing system that will properly handle the demand.

Lol. Ticketmaster just settled a class action lawsuit for shady ticketing practices. Regardless, it's probably still the best system out there.

In any case, what seats is everyone thinking? I definitely want to try and get the VIP ones. This may be the only time I ever see Soshi so I need to be close enough to make my move on Yoong, ;).

Pretty sure there are still ticketing bots out there that will grab the best seats in .1 sec after sales begin lol

Taking a look at the Honda center floor setup, it's probably going to be one of these setup variations:

If I can't get VIP (100s) or stage front (201, 202, 228, 301, 326) then I'll probably pass as I feel like I've already experienced SMTown and I'm not interested in the other acts besides Soshi. All the acts are good but Soshi and SuJu are the only ones that know how to work the crowd when they perform. Shinee and f(x) just seem to go through the motions and just not as experienced yet. BoA and TVXQ get huge pops but I just ended up getting bored halfway through their sets.

I rocked out to Gucci Gucci, whether she has any longevity beyond that is very much up in the air, though..

Hah! Yuri is destroying Yoona in the ratings. Twice as many watched last episode of Fashion King as Love Rain.

You know, i have never been to a k-pop concert but from what i have seen on youtube, i always thought Shinee actually were kinda relaxed and had a "let loose" attitude.

They just seemed to go kinda crazy at their concerts

I just think, the boybands have it easier, going "crazy" at their concerts. Just running around doing weird moves and acting exhausted, makes male performers feel "Oh, wow, they really gave so much for this concert! Blew all energy! Impressive!" meanwhile, all the girls groups have to battle this ideal of perfectness. Its just not as easy for them to just perform like the boybands.

For instance, Shakira is doing the male routine, she almost gets tom-boyish during her concerts. I just have a hard time seeing the kpop girlgroups doing that. Instead they seem stiff and more suitable for the tv studio:/

Almost all k-pop girlgroups are Mariah Carey rather than Madonna/Shakira in their live performances.

Also, k-pop groups do less concerts than any top 500 artist in USA so their experience in that arena are close to zero.

Do not get me wrong, i would love to be at SMTown!

Seems like K-pop is a non-touring business. While their western counterparts are all about getting their juice through lavish concert tours. K-pop groups literally do max 1 full concert per year.

Have you ever seen SNSD concert footage? They run around mucking about half the time.

Yes, they have the non-cordinated parts of their shows where they tend to be a bit playful but it is not really "letting loose" or putting on a show and basically its just not in their nature to do it. They will never be as good as the acts who made it from the bottom to the top or the ones that do 60 shows per year and who prepare the tour for 1 year. But i mean, that is not what K-pop is about anyway. I am just saying K-pop is below the western standard for concerts, including pop and rnb.

Combine that lack of natural showmanship with sub-par concert set ups. It just do not reach up to that high class. I fail to see any real dedication to doing a good concert tour from any of the korean labels. Then again, you cannot be best at everything.

SNSDs acts are made for MV and TV-shows, they are not made for big stages in arenas. Still SNSD are miles better than say WGs who are the closest to actually even trying to do a real concert tour.

Its hard to criticize the k-pop arena shows when they are usually putting in little effort. Right now its more like a few promotional concerts each year, where each group gets 3 songs to perform. Beside that, some groups gets their own mini-tours, with full concerts, however, these are not the managements top priority and therefore are worse than their western counterparts.

Absolutely disagree. I've seen western pop tours, I've seen Girls Aloud live - the shows SNSD have run in Japan and beyond (not the ITNW tour, the newest one) are very polished- the production values for things like big screen videos are better than their MVs, not to mention the playful craziness of the 2NE1 and Big Bang's concerts.

“Looking at the browsing history after Seungri used the laptop, there were a lot of pornographic videos with blonde ladies in them,” G-Dragon continued. “The internet speed was so slow because we were overseas that he couldn’t even finish downloading the entire video,” he added, causing everyone to explode in laughter.

Seungri tried to come to his own defense by remarking, “I’m a huge fan of the Kia Tigers professional baseball team, and I was simply downloading clips of baseball to watch.”

(** Seungri’s trying to jokingly state that he thought the word ‘pornography’ was the abbreviated word for ‘baseball videos’ 야구 동영상 (baseball videos) / 야동 (pornography))

Seungri, Seungri.. Sooyoung already used that joke.

We all need a matching shirt. Maybe we can all wear bieber shirts? I already have one so I'm set if that's the case.

I'm not sure if you're joking about already having one, but the fact that I believe that you do indeed have at least 1 Bieber shirt, speaks volumes =P

No, I do have one. My brother wears it though. Was meant to be a halloween costume a couple years ago, Bieber shirt + horse mask. Now he just wears it whenever.

For real though, we need matching shirts. No point in making one though. Unless someone has great shirt making skills..

Censors strike again.

T-ara’s “Lovey Dovey” MV ruled unsafe by the Commission on Youth Protection
20120403_tara_1.jpg

Allkpop said:
Underage minors will now be unable to view T-ara‘s “Lovey Dovey” music video, as it has been deemed unsafe.

The Commission on Youth Protection has ruled that T-ara’s “Lovey Dovey” MV is unsafe for teenagers. The video that features the T-ara members along with actor Cha Seung Won includes a few scenes including violence and drugs, and the Commission on Youth Protection saw this as problematic.

Hip Hop artist Defconn‘s MV for “First Classic” was also banned, due to it’s drug references and sexually suggestive scenes, while the OST “Same Thing, Different Day” for musical ‘Next To Normal‘ starring Kolleen Park, Nam Kyung Joo, Oh Soyeon, and Han Jisang has also been banned for it’s vulgarism and suicidal references.

The songs and videos ruled as unsafe for teenagers cannot air on television before 10PM, and the album copies that include the songs in question must be sold with a ‘Prohibited Sale to Minors Under 19‘ sticker in accordance with the Youth Protection Law.

Suuure you're "brother".

Depending on the shirt, I'm down. I have been looking for a reason to buy that Hypertonic shirt though.

Waiting in line at MSG, my friend's were ready to kill me because they felt like they were surrounded by teeney-boppers, so I'd say the avg would be 16-21.

I went to SM Town Paris and at the time SNSD were amidst the Japanese tour. Some of them were hyper and really gave fanservice (Fany, Hyo, Sunny the most). Maybe of their tiredness I didn't noticed much the others (but only 2 eyes is hard to keep focus on all)...
Anyway they were comfortable and performances were ok. I bet after the Japanese tour, and now in a sort of rest period, they will for sure be much better (I mean, in goofiness levels).

Suju were more loose but also their performances were a lot more messy, they just fooled around basically and being douchebags to the fangirls audience.
DBSK were a more tidy and precise performances than the rest. f(x) were regular in my opinion, as Shinee was (but better than I had though).

And I can confirm the audience age range, I would put it to 15-22. And 70% were girls. My ears shed blood from the fan girls screams...

Finally figured out what Painkiller reminds me of:

Not making any silly accusations here, just the soundscapes are similar so it was ringing a bell and was driving me nuts.

Edit: Though I still feel compelled to go back through my Massive Attack, Portishead, Morcheeba, etc. Needless to say, Spica is in good company here.

You know what... if you're gonna buy a shirt off of spreadshirt, why don't we just make our own? Still a month and a half away. I'll think of some stuff later tonight.

What group was in the japanese variety show where something like "scandalous" happened, like the japanese hosts, basically started groping them or something? Was it BEG? Cannot find it. I just remember, these korean "princesses" being treated like crap by their japanese hosts.

I only remember something about Kara in a show where their butts were the focus all the time... not sure though.
