What's Jeolla mean?
Jeolla is the southwestern region of Korea; it used to be its own province, but now it's divided into Jeollabukdo (North Jeolla) and Jeollanamdo (South Jeolla, where Gwangju is and where I lived). Some Koreans from Gyeonggi-do/Seoul look down upon Jeolla because it's the least developed area of Korea, and also because regional rivalry dates back thousands of years. Unlike the hyperconservative Gyeongsang region (where Daegu and Busan are), Jeolla is economically left-wing/blue-collar...but, Korean society/politics being what they are, the left wing can be just as socially conservative and xenophobic as the right and sometimes more so.
The slur in question refers to fermented stingray, a culinary specialty from Jeolla.

This episode and 115(with Moon Geun-young and DBSK) are probably my favorite recent episodes. I love how KJK is very actively trying to establish another love line but it always ends up getting interrupted by Eun-hye lol. Also Geun-young trying to jockey for the Monday couple spot was effin' hilarious, she actually gelled pretty well with the cast I'm surprised they're not asking her to be a permanent member.
