While I feel that the DSM IV has its valid criticisms (we can even add cultural bias to it - although that is arguably less impactful in one of the more westernised Asian societies), I do agree that "schizophrenia" is often used as a catch-all by media or those without a grounding in psychology. I'm not even going to try and armchair diagnose Ahreum when I can't understand what she is saying and am only observing her through the single camera lens she shows us, but I do hope that if this is more than a teenager trying to find her way and calling for attention, then her agency and family take actual active steps. I understand South Korea isn't big on talking about emotional problems or mental illnesses.

In Korea any "deviant" behavior is immediately condemned. For example, those ones who dye their hair blond are considered delinquent. If you try a different look, you are slut/lazy/bad student etc etc. She is just different from the asian norm, where woman usually take retarded selcas on cafeterias and subway carts.

lol decided to take a second look and Areum Instagram is indeed crazy as shit and also hilarious. Tomorrow I have Abnormal Psychology class and I'm gonna ask my teacher to take a look at her stuff.

I gotta say, with my experience with weird shit people, that her looking into the camera is just like someone who will either a) stab you in the throat and watch emotionless into your yes while you bleed to dead or b) stab her in the throat and emotionless look at you while she dies.

The disturbing fact from her stuff comes from the way she shoots her videos or take her pictures. Usually people with detachment/personality disorders they have this thing with "faces". They like to draw faces, make doodles in faces, take pictures of their faces really zoomed in, etc. Kinda obsessed by it. Regular Koreans take pictures of their food, their dogs, their new clothes, their winter shoes, their cute accessory or something.

I couldn't find a lot of videos of her talking in shows/interviews etc, but her goodbye video was fucking weird, can't describe why. The tone, her 'fluency', the speech rhythm, even her outfit. Everything is weird.

Never really followed anything about T-Ara so can't comment much... But yeah she's definitely going through a tough phase if she's not faking it. Might be just depression kicking in. No one like her simply goes solo career lol. SPECIALLY her.
