K-Pop Fanboy/Fangirl |OT5| Controversies Over Nothing

^the beginning sounds a bit like Blink-182's 'What's My Age Again?'

Just heard "Push Push" in the background on American Idol.

The Sistar song?

That GOT7 song is probably the laziest debut song ive heard in a long while. Even Chrome Ent's boyband K-Much has a stronger song.

She also was the host of the Ailee episode:

Oh yeah, that reminds me of what fiddl mentioned earlier. Looks like Yuri jumped on the "I'm too lazy to go to the gym, gimme that carboxy" train along with the likes of Eunji and Woohee. And like them she looks much worse than she did before.

So EXO won the Dasaeng on the Seoul Music Awards.
Kind of predictable, the power of fangirls.
If SM continues to promote them as until now, I'm not seeing other groups winning, maybe only Big Bang. SM just needs to release albums and repackages.
Not even SNSD as a girl group cannot compete with that. Only if they do 2010 again.

There is a question for women asking if they have lived in or spent an extended period of time in Australia. If they answer yes then it minuses points because they believe that women who live here are exposed to promiscuity and become more "loose". For men it's the Philippines.

Haha, now being a Filipino Australian I would just like to say...Fuck. That. Form.

EXO's AKB level fan signs certainly would help too. lol

SNSD actually did sell the most with the Boys in 2011 as well with only 1 sku/no follow up promotion, they did have like 8 fan signs for it though (EXO had over 40 for Kiss/Hug/Growl!) But I don't think SNSD is gonna do more than 1 or 2 per album now tbh.

I actually kinda figured Sistar would win for SMA. Every other year it's been a huge digital selling song that won (Nobody, Gee, Good Day, Roly Poly etc.) where as Growl just cracked the top 40.

Whichever PR man or woman cooked up that whole 'legend crooner comes back to classy up the kpop game' angle for Cho Yong Pil needs a big ass raise because nothing on that album deserves the accolades, sales, hype and awards. I know the dude has a history but some lazy leftover radio pop from European songwriter camps boosting his hall of fame standing that much? Cmon!

I thought it was a solid classic pop album in a pretty shitty year for kpop. Kind of a Phil Collins/James Blunt blend that is waaay better than many other Korean attempts at the same field. His style is also much more natural compared to all these tryhard ballad depressives you hear.

널 만나면 is hella annoying tho.

At first conc thought it was the hot coffee fanfic but when I read it I told him it was different.

it looks like chapter 3 was just finished though and he/she posted about chapter 4.

Lol Hot Coffee is strictly K-Pop GAF. It's why it's unlisted on Pastebin, me and ryan-ts just do it for the shits and giggles.

Speaking of which, excuse the delay btw. I'm terribly busy with school this semester, on top of schoolwork I also work in both the TV and radio dept of my university.

Thankfully, today's my day off and unless something big goes down on campus that I need to get my ass there immediately, I'm gonna sit my ass down and start writing chapter 9 lol.

Anyway, CYP's Bounce is sooo good. I first heard it when 9M covered it on SBS' Gayo... and it's in my top 10 lol.

That said, 2013 was a shitty year for K-Pop. IGaB set the standards too high early in the year that not many were able to reach that level haha.

Nothing special is great compared to mostly boring shit.

Anybody remember VNT? They had a single called Sound (Ye Ye Ye) that flopped back in 2011. I kinda liked it. Anyway, Yumi from that group is debuting again (as SoYumi) in the new group Kiss & Cry who have their first single Domino Game coming out tomorrow.

Dia is also in the group. Teaser: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gina0JnhLuU
She was the qt of the group and looks like she will be in this one too. Lil J was my fav and she had some serious beef with management and bailed. If I remember correctly they were a trio of friends from highschool or something, so that was pretty fatal to the group.

Heechul said:
"Girl groups these days almost all have sexy concepts. What became a controversy was AoA's part in their 'Miniskirt' dance when they pull up the zipper on their mini skirts.

While looking at these girl group concepts, I think that our country truthfully does not eat up cute concepts anymore. I am a celebrity and a singer--and a product. Celebrities are a product. Consumers need to purchase and like us."

Edit: Above was an (ugh) Allkpop translation. A different version, plus a bit AKP cut, is offered by a SJ fan:

Recently all the girl groups are going for the sexy concept. Like recently AOA's Short Skirt is also sexy concept, there is a zipping action in their choreo. Because right now in our country, the cute concept is no longer working. We are going for commercialisation. I am also a celebrity, a celebrity is a product. We have to match the consumer's tastes.

AOA used to be a band when they debut. Like CNBlue and FTisland but their popularity was normal. They got much more popular after going for the sexy concept.

You know y'all are being stupid when even Heechul is droppin truth bombs. Girl's Day and AOA both tried different concepts and struck gold with the sexy ones. If people are buying other concepts enough to pay them off how does anyone expect that to continue? Face it: The loud ones aren't the majority who is buying music. Put your money where your mouth is if you want to see more innocent concepts. If people are buying sexy, all censorship does is regulate agencies/idols to losing money.

He's not on-point about AOA though - they didn't go for the band concept, that was a gimmick hardly utilized at all except as props - what they originally went for was a generic dance style- then they went the sexy seductive (Alone) route now and sell a bit more because that's the hot sound. Groups who stick to an actually unique style will win out for it. A female CN Blue FT island with a push as big will work. Or even better one with actual tunes.

Like CN Blue.

I think this is key to the concept working for girls, which AOA did not do.

As for guy bands, I think it's clear they think they don't need good songs to be successful.

Still calling it a gimmick after they've played live ? Lol.

But it is, because they never make use if it. I don't question their ability to play - but it doesn't matter when you have to go sherlock holmes on youtube to find any trace of it, then that's obviously not what's being sold to the public. So saying they tried and failed with that is wrong, they never tried it for real.

Uhhh the last vid of them on their official channel is them doing an acoustic with youna playing the key board.

AoA black is the band sub group. AoA are and always were a pop girl group. Same or similar concepts the whole time.

So. No. Not really.

Yes, they didn't dare actually make them the female CN Blue, they had to make playing with instruments a sub-unit to their generic idol group, a spin off of no consequence.

You're delusional if you think their first few concepts are similar to their current ones.

They did try to sell them as a female CN Blue at first, then they realised it doesn't work when half the band can't even pretend to play an instrument properly.

So they created that sub group of people who can and then gave them an equally shitty pop song to perform, while resorting to sexying the main group up as much as they can to try and get people to pay attention to them.
