K-Pop Fanboy/Fangirl |OT6| Thank You for Love

If you're listening to Toy albums for anything but ballads then you're listening to the wrong artist though :p (Ballads are awesome).

Lol don't get me wrong, I love ballads and I actually think this is a great album too. I was just taken aback but the constant barrage of ballads, I just wasn't ready to be hit by sadness for almost an entire hour haha.

Also, I didn't know it was gonna be like this lol. My only exposure of Toy or in this case Hee-yeol was his appearance in the music festival in Infinity Challenge last year.

Is that groups entire concept a shitty attempt at ripping off Babymetal or just that one song? And weren't they supposed to be doing something about the SS armbands?

They basically sounded just like noise to me not like Momoclo, but the clothes seem to be near identical to what Babymetal wear except without the red and they have a band wearing costumes.

토이 (Toy) - 아무도 모른다 (Inst.) (No One Knows) MV

Agreed. Pritz so good. An the choreography is just to cute. I need to see them in music shows and everything. I think what they did with the armband thing is applying some T-ara MV edit on those parts and call it a day. I hope they don't get much shit for it though.

And weren't they supposed to be doing something about the SS armbands?

Confused? Their management is too.
A representative from their entertainment label Pandagram, which had originally stated that it would consider possibly changing the logo in the official MV, told Maeil Business Newspaper, "We did not modify Pritz's MV and released it. We were instructed that there was no need for modifications."

Although Pandagram had also previously stated that Pritz's armbands were not based on the Hakenkreuz but rather the Korean speed limit sign, which contains a white circle with a red band wrapped around it, the representative seemed to deny that is the case. He stated, "It seems that the head of the company was shocked by the sudden controversy that he provided the traffic sign explanation in his state of confusion," suggesting that the armbands are not meant to resemble the speed limit signs after all.

Aware of the ongoing controversy, the representative continued, "Although domestic and international netizens are still debating the issue, there is no official, formal change. The company will explain the issue soon."

He added, "Their concept was originally planned as one where they wear armbands and go on stage." He continued to share that the company was in a confused state, saying, "Because we have no detailed policy, we are acting cautiously."

Didn't like Lee Hi when she debuted tbh. But now...

She looked so cute dancing in the hallway; I want a BTS of that. And I actually like the song. Reminds me of a Leessang song.

The pritz song is a really weird song for them to debut with. All their pre-debut songs were much more pop. Why they went so rock I don't know. It's a fun song though.

Just finished watching 2 eps of Pinocchio

nice so far, I hope they don't put park shin hye in her 24/7 crying role though.

also nicole song is so avg.

So by pointing out that expectations for their debut were quite high which led to disappointment (Even I was disappoonted with it) I'm somehow "stanning" them?

Generally speaking expectations were quite high after their pre release tracks, both within Korean netizens and international fans from what I saw. Especially when compared with other girl group debuts from companies not in the Big 3.

You might not care for their style of music but just as you said, your opinion isn't necessarily the general overall opinion.

Not sure what the example of Nicole's fan group name has to do with anything. Unless you're trying to say I'm somehow blindly defending them, which I am not.

And yes, that kind of reply is pretty much trolling and just bad posting. If you had actually articulated your opinion it would have led to better discussion ;)

Expectations were high in the areas you went looking, which were Mamamoo centric most likely. People don't go looking for pre-debut stuff unless they're interested / fans already. Their pre-release stuff wasn't amazing to my mind, and their debut was fun, but forgettable.

Out side of that, no, not really, in regards to high expectations. There are so many new groups from mid-tier and lower companies its really hard for any of them to stand out.

You said something like highest expectations for a debut. Not even close. In a year where SM debut a group... nope.

Then you have PJY, Hyomin, HA;TFELT, Nicole, there were a ton of much higher profile more anticipated debuts than mamamoo this year. And those are just without a list in front of me. I know there was expectations of Pritz and Laboum. You've also got Winner. And is it lovelyz ? (who sounded absolutely horrible live).

You may be misinterpreting it as an expectation of quality on your behalf. And to give them credit, they executed the song well, it was just a bland debut song. But it didn't make me want to go out and listen to the b-sides. Too many groups do this, so they're not at fault or anything.

Too many groups hide their actual talent on b-sides instead of just going for it as their title track. I think "Like a Cat" is a very average song by AoA
Amazing visuals though
, I wish they'd have promoted Time as their lead single. It's a much better song, and many other established groups do it too.
Actually I wish AoA would promote as a band again already.

I hope mamamoo can really sing, and I hope they don't do what SPICA do and hide that fact trying to play it safe.

The example of "colling" was an example that you can stan something, but you don't have to defend everything they do.

Besides, we all know who the real ROTY should be. TOMATOES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously, we al know Red Velvet have it locked up despite their mediocre second song

I'm glad to know some of GAF are starting to warm up to Lee Hi more. She's an incredible singer that just needs some time to develop. Her "stiff" presence during her debut reminded me about IU when she had her debut. Both had that -_- expression while performing. I just think it's a combination of the lack of experience and being a solo act at such a young age.

Also, I have to admit..
Hi Suhyun > 15&

I wasn't going to reply to this until I got home from work, but I'm stuck in traffic on a bus because of this storm so I may as well.

First of all, please stop using "stanning" as the crutch of your argument. I'm not stanning, nor am I defending everything they do. Quite literally all I said was that their pre debut songs garnered a significant amount of buzz to set expectations for their debut quite high.

You've completely misconstrued my statement and are now acting as if I said they were the most hyped debut this year - I never said this.

You're also comparing their debut to the solo debuts of already established artists with massive fan bases which is all kinds of ridiculous.

As for Red Velvet - over the past 15 odd years I've seen SM debut a lot of girl groups and RV by far had one of the least anticipated and least hyped debuts I've ever seen from SM. Even groups that completely failed from SM in the past had significantly higher expectations than RV.

And there was expectations from Pritz and Laboum outside of hardcore idol fans? I very much doubt that. I think you'd be hard pressed to find people that know or even care about them on the streets in Korea.

As for me "looking for" opinions from "Mamamoo centric" sources, I'm not sure where you got that from because I was speaking very generally. My sources are Korean news portal comments - I don't have time nor vested interest to visit artist specific sites any more.

I'm willing to discuss giri but you have to stop with the "You disagree with me so you're obviously stanning, using biased sources or delusional" stance - it's kind of ridiculous.

You also need to take your own advice and stop projecting your own opinion onto others. What you thought of Mamamoo's pre debut lead up tracks is totally irrelevant.

oh man roommate looouullz...

Jackson and Young-ji <3

sunny @_@
i love this show

ikr. As much as my fanboy heart burns with the fury of 1000 suns at seeing Jackson and Young-ji together they are pretty funny. Love how she apologized for calling him short (which I did not notice til they brought it up haha) by buying him food... but making him pay for it rofl.

10cm are really on point in their new album. The thing that grabs me with 10cm is always their lyrics. I love how simple and quirky they are. Right from the get go with 3집에 대한 부담감 which talks about the troubles they had coming up with ideas for music for their third album.

Really good stuff. I've been spoiled this week with this and Toy.

To be fair, i misremembered your original statement. But,
Only because expectations were so high.

It got better on repeated listens and the lives were awesome.

Is an overstatement regardless.

And to use your own argument against you;

And there was expectations from Mamamoo outside of hardcore idol fans? I very much doubt that. I think you'd be hard pressed to find people that know or even care about them on the streets in Korea.

That line of statements is so entirely subjective for rookies who have not gone mainstream in the slightest. Which none of those 3 have.

You might not like the comparison to the other groups/idols like RV/ Winner / PJY etc, but they're valid. They just ruin the bar you wish to set. Or re-write.

Stanning has meaning out side the hardcore / stalker definition, particularly in a community like k-pop where there so many levels of fandom. The connotation here being that you're living in a world where (or that statement was made from one where) you assume everyone thinks the same about the group you like and holds them at the same standard. Another word could suffice, but stanning works. Suggest another. Fanning?

Sort of agree sort of don't with regards to RV. Their debut certainly wasn't as promoted or hyped over such a long period as you would normally expect out of SM. Which lead to some of the anticipation just not being there. And whilst I expect they were meant to debut this year, I think SM skipped a promotion cycle or two with them to try and take away /cover up some of the scandals they've had this year. But it was still there in droves. It's SM.

It doesn't really sound like you're willing to change your stance on it, and that's fine. It's all fandom stuff and people are entitled to hold their own opinion. Just means people are allowed to hold counter opinions as well.

I certainly didn't mean for it to devolve into this long of a series of posts, and I certainly don't "dislike" mamamoo as much as this has made it seem. If nothing else their name is fun to type. I just found the over hype funny.
