Kanye goes on epic, disjointed rant on Ellen show

I think the issue is that he speaks about changing the world and improving it, so much so that it would be felt for 100 years. With talk like that it sounds like he must really want to improve the world, yeah? Well, he's just mad that companies won't let him make shirts and give him more opportunities to release whatever he wants.

I don't hate the guy for thinking this is extremely important to him but he wants the world to feel his plight because rich dudes won't give another rich dude more money to sell 150 dollar shirts.
Idk, I don't know the ins and outs of the clothing industry to be able to truly say but I think he's just endlessly frustrated by red tape at the end of the day. It's like what he was saying what we could do if we all came together and frankly just stopped hating on eachother all the time.

They way he speaks about the Payless thing makes it sounds like it was rejected for whatever reason and he's once again being locked out of his idea because while he's loaded, there's no way he could single handedly tackle the issue (or the multitude he's brought up similarly in the past) at least not on the scale he's probably wanting. Because of his past endeavors and the way he talks it often just seems like he's complaining that he's being blocked off from making more money, but I really believe he's complaining that other people just want to make money and not wanting to help.

An example would be his Yeezys. Those things are stupidly coveted. Fuck, I've been wanting a pair, they are cool as hell. I ain't paying some Hypebeast in Jersey $1000 for them tho. What happened to Kanye saying "everyone who would want a pair of Yeezys will get one?", Adidas, that's what. They know they have the hottest sneaker, and they know that if everyone had a pair they would lose their value and the eyeballs Kanye brings to Adidas would go back to Nike. At least that's what the probably are spooked of. I believe if Kanye had control of Adidas's factories they would be produced on Nike Roshe level and everyone and their grandmother would be rocking them but he can't because at the end of the day he is one man just designing shoes, music, clothes, etc, dealing with corporations that know his value but are hesitant to let him run the show.

That isn't to say he doesn't like money. He definitely does lol.

I think he really wishes he could do some Elon Musk shit basically. Create luxury items but still produce things that can be of service to the general pop.

Historical. I can only imagine if CRS ever got back together what the album would sound like. I just want them to sit down in the same room and just talk. I'd buy that.

Ye thinks his $600 shoes are going to prevent kids from getting bullied. Ain't nobody's mom going to afford that, man!
Clearly you're not going to listen, so hawking this thread to make slights that don't even relate to anything being said is useless.

Some article just went up saying that it was confirmed to be true and was recent.

Payless said they weren't going to comment on the status of the situation though, for what it's worth.

He kind of reminds me of interviewing bipolar patients during manic states. The flight of ideas and jumping from topic to topic, the desire to start many new projects, the feeling that you have grand ideas that will change everything, and of course the grandiosity

That wasn't that disjointed of a rant, and Kanye made some pretty good points in it. That said, the video was still pretty funny because of Ellen's and the audience's facial reactions lol

Or getting high in high school with friends.

I think he really wishes he could do some Elon Musk shit basically. Create luxury items but still produce things that can be of service to the general pop.

His version of Elon Musk shit is just really pointless shit that means nothing to the world.

He even talks about it.

When I make clothes, it's funny, because I would sit there with Obama and Leo's talking about the environment, and then I'm talking about clothes, and everyone looks at me like, "That's not an important issue," or something.

Maybe they're right and you're wrong, Kanye. Maybe the world doesn't care that you're not able to make clothes.

Was he like this before his mother passed? Her passing may have been his traumatic moment, I wouldn't be surprised if he's diagnosed as paranoid schizophrenic.

What immediate family does he have?

wow we got some experts on bipolar disorder and also high high school students. fascinating.
I mean, I did specifically receive instruction in psychiatry. It's not just tales from my ass. These people have a very distinct pattern of thought and speech, and some of them can actually be very successful because of these traits. Here are some of the DSM 5 criteria:
●Inflated self-esteem or grandiosity
●Decreased need for sleep (eg, feels rested after three or four hours of sleep)
●More talkative than usual or pressured speech
●Racing thoughts or flight of ideas (abrupt changes from one topic to another that are based upon understandable associations)
●Distractibility
●Increase in goal-directed activity
or psychomotor agitation
●Excessive involvement in pleasurable activities that have a high potential for painful consequences (eg, buying sprees or sexual indiscretions)
Can't speak for the more personal ones, but you can see my thought process right? Not saying the dude's bipolar, but it is just reminiscent

i get you, but a manic state lasting years? I dunno.

dude's always been a bit weird but everyone is quirky in their own way

Maybe they're right and you're wrong, Kanye. Maybe the world doesn't care that you're not able to make clothes.
I think this depends on how much value you put on clothes. Next to water, food, and shelter they are the most important things to us, but again it all comes down to your perception.

Yeah, next to people fighting for the environment, clothing seems to mean jack shit, wrap me in something cotton, why does it matter?

It matters to those kids though. You can argue that that's just misplaced priorities but I think it's more of there's room for both as valid concerns and things to work on. We don't have to ignore one for the other.

That's not even getting into all the little ways clothing can influence your standing in society as an adult.

Maybe the world doesn't care that you're not able to make clothes.

Maybe he should.

Maybe you should think about how much clothes mean to people in middle school and high school. Maybe you should think about kids get bullied in school for not wearing the cool clothes. Maybe you should think about the 1200 people who die about shoes and how Kanye wants to do something about it.

Kanye may not be about the larger global issues but he does care about the issues that he can solve with his passion and tries.

So this is a "rant" now?
Sure of course it is because it's Ye speaking, huh.

Plenty of armchair phycologists up in here too. Woosh

We're here to commemorate President Kanye West. 100 years ago he released some dope as shoes and ended bullying. Until President Kanye West came along, all Payless shoes were wack as fuck, anyone caught wearing them was sure to get bullied.

I'm genuinely confused by this thread. I don't know if people are honest in their praise of Kanye's ideas to change the world or if it is a sarcastic.

I fucking love Kanye, but he is pretty fucking offensively pretending to give a shit about bullied poor kids. Fuck that. Gross.

If he wants to help the under-priveledged he shoukd fucking start instead of blaming Mark Zuckerberg and using them to prop his ego.

Motherfucker, if payless doesn't wanna make $20 Kanye Signature Sneakers or whatever lets see some fucking reciepts. No way.

no doubt. i like how outspoken he is but he's all talk and no action.

and the people he criticizes actually get shit done. he's way too stuck on the fashion bullshit too. i really think he could help a lot of kids if he diverted his attention to something that actually mattered sadly.

I believe he supports quite a few youth oriented charities. I think he even started a job skill oriented one with Common a few years ago.

That's great. That doesn't excuse this bullshit though. I was bullied for being poor as a kid. It's not a fucking joke and this shit is just blatantly bullshit for sympathy applause.

I love the guy, but that shit was empty and shallow. I hope Payless publicly goes, "okay. Lets do it" just so we can see the stupid reaponse.

Expected a lot worse. I enjoyed this a lot. Yeah it was cringey at times but he's clearly a touched individual and his personality is genuine.

This sounds like my ex gf.

Really accurate description.

I don't see praise for his ideas like they are magically gonna revolutionize the human condition, more just acknowledgement that he's just a flawed but well intentioned eccentric dude and not a mentally ill jackass.

He sells expensive plain t-shirts to people who can afford it, not because he thinks that his fashion line is gonna stop bullying. It's a separate point entirely and everyone seems to be conflating the shit because "lulz $600 t-shirt" (admittedly comical).

This is not nearly as Cruise-worthy, since Kanye is basically this crazy already.

Cruise at least had the veneer of sanity.
