Kanye West Isn’t “Traditionally American” Enough to Perform at Trump Inauguration

No Black person should perform at Trump's inauguration, but that "traditionally American" phrase is the biggest dog whistle ever. Basically saying rappers arent "traditionally American"...very insulting.

and I'm telling you that there's not a logical error in the process of hiring an artist to perform at an event.

Okay, for the last time:

1) You say this was just PR to explain why an artist will not be performing and isn't meant to be racist.

2) You then say that minority artists probably wouldn't want to play anyway due to Trump's past rhetoric aka racist statements.

So, using your logic, we shouldn't assume this is more racist rhetoric from his team despite a history of racist rhetoric from Trump and his team.

I can't make this any clearer for you.

They invited 2 Chainz

As I pointed out earlier, if true it makes the excuse given even more clear pandering to his base in an effort to marginalize black people. They could have made up any number of other lies to save face.

So if they invite Kanye, it's pandering, if they say his music isn't a fit, it's racist.

Nothing says America like Tity "All I want for my birthday is a big booty ho" Boi!

Idk what he would've performed haha

You can perceive the bad PR messaging however you like. Be angry. You're allowed to be.

It could absolutely be a factor...86% of african americans voted for Hillary. If you wonder why, then you're blind. Artists have pride too...

Thank you for allowing me to perceive blatant racism for what it is. Now, while you are allowing that don't sit there from a perch telling people they are wrongly outraged because they are making things up with conjecture when you're whole argument hinges on the made up scenario of the guy in charge lying about Kanye not wanting to play in the first place and/or lying about his stated reason. That's a classic Trump tactic to fight facts with lies and conjecture while calling the facts lies. Because making a blatant dog whistle is oh so much better.

Remember people, this inauguration is about UNITY, right?

tbh the last person on Planet Earth I would want performing at my presidential inauguration would be Freddy Spaghetti

2nd last would be Kanye West because he absolutely will go off the reservation

Old people generally don't like hip hop. I'm not directly seeing the racism in this one although I get how some could see it as a dog whistle kind of thing.

Edit: so they did invite other hip hop artists? Interesting

Politics aside this is horrible thread title. You can't use quotation marks and then edit important parts out so it looks like something else it said and it fits your agenda.

Do hip hop artist usually perform at Presidential inaugurations?

Hip Hop doesn't seem appropriate imo

Edit: isn't kanye seeking help for mental health issues? You don't want him wired up with a mic, that's just common sense.

Also Taylor said in her 2009 Rolling Stone cover she voted for Obama so I don't know why you associate her with Trump just because she's white?

She was brought up not for association with trump but because a kind of feud with Kanye since, you know "imma gonna let you finish...."

Edit: i dunno how the fuck i made that typo...

I hope you'll be joining me on the protest in DC on Saturday too. Unless you want to be on a perch yourself spouting "RACISM RACISM!!!"

If they said his music wasn't the right fit then no one would care. Instead they said he's not "tradionally American"

Well they didn't say that. They said:

"He's been great, but it's not the venue...

The venue we have for entertainment is filled out, it's perfect, it's going to be typically and traditionally American, and Kanye is a great guy but we just haven't asked him to perform."
http://www.cnn.com/2017/01/16/politics/donald-trump-kanye-west-tom-barrack-inauguration/

It's a stretch to say they said that, let alone make an argument that it's meant in a racist way.

Feds Watching

Perfect lol

Original headline is too long first of all to fit within the limits.
If you think it's out of line then feel free to contest to a mod dude. Looks like it fits to me considering the quote.

What part of it is editing to fit my supposed agenda?

Try again. I said the excuse they gave is bullshit if they really did invite another rapper. It's the lie they used that's pandering. They could have given myriad reasons why they didn't want Kanye like scheduling conflict or some nonsense but they went with not "traditional American."
