Okay, finally listened to the mashed together version of Wolves and I like it for the most part. A little sloppy on a few second transtions, but it's ultimately the version of the song I wanted & will be what I play when I listen to the song.

Still can't believe he took the Sia & Vic Mensa part, shit is soooo good, should've just let the song been like 6 minutes long rather than butchering it for his repetitious verse.

I liked them too....BUT their parts really do change the focus of the song. So I can understand why their parts were left off.

If you mean the clipping, don't get your hopes up. Ye's albums have had clipping and distortion issues when the volume gets loud since BDMTF. Literally every project since has had the same complaint. It makes me sad, but they don't give a fuck clearly.

I saw Kanye at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.

He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”

I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly. After that when he left he said "Who the jiggy nigga with the gold links" and threw a whole row of gum on the floor and walked out

people use that same excuse whenever an album has bad sound design, whether it's Kanye West or Andre Jackson Jihad lol. You can have distortion and high volume without it being objectively bad mixing

Pretty solid album, way easier to digest on the first listen compared to Yeezus so it will probably grow even more on me. Lyrically it's pretty weak though, I don't like how he seems to repeat many lines. I don't think he will match MBDTF for me in terms of hype and delivering, but it's still great to hear some new Kanye.

I wouldn't worry about Kanye unless something happens with his family. Like for most people, his family is his anchor. If Kim left him and took the kids...let's say I wouldn't want to see a free-floating Kanye in debt and giving half to a lost spouse.

Related note:

Mike Dean was recently on Pensado's Place, a podcast thing that's geared towards audio engineers, and he mentioned that with recent albums they've been sending out their stuff for mastering as opposed to doing it themselves (Noah/Dean). I know we found out years later w/MBDTF that Ye wanted it to give it a raw, Wu-Tang kind of texture but I think after that they kind of became satisfied with what the mastering they got and stuck with it.

I don't know anything about audio engineering but I thought it was interesting.

What I learned: Kdot needs to work with Ye more because he brings out his best lyrically. It's the sheer necessity of it, as Dot will unintentionally embarrass you on your own shit if you don't.

I think if Dot and similar artists had been on this album more, we would have seen a bigger focus on lyricism. Not a critique because I like it as is, but for those who need more lyrical meat to dissect and eat it would have been good for them.

The fact that the best quotes from the album are from hooks will discourage many.
