Good kid mad city is a classic album that 30 years from now people will be bumping still.

To pimp a butterfly will be forgotten at the end of the year. Fuck Kenny for dropping this shit bomb.

You can't honestly believe this. It's going to be all over aoty awards.

OP doesn't enjoy albums. OP enjoys singles.

The OP won't be enjoying Kendrick's 3rd single then since it's "corny".

While I think op unfairly paints all the fans with a broad brush I have to say if you guys dont find the institutionalized chorus and for free at least somewhat corny....I dunno guys. That's some of the worst shit I've heard from any artist let alone one with talent like kendrick

Not as high since it has numerous 8-9 minute tracks, but it's definitely a replayable album.

I haven't touch the album since early feb...like I said it's not a bad album but it's not something I would bump on the regular.

Lmao who do you think you are saying people bumping the mentioned "corny" tracks should be ashamed of themselves?

Have you heard drakes rhymes, the production on his shit? THATS corny.

You aint a god, log off.

Yeah pretty much. I didn't keep a single song off the album - it felt super unnecessary. Anything on there that I'd even kind of like becomes boring or just makes me want to listen to his first two albums.

Still give me hope that he may course correct. Lazers was leading somewhere...dark...

So what happens if the same happens with TPaB and all the incoming releases?

We're not even 2 weeks in yet.

Oh no you didn't. Drizzy at the top of the game right now.

For me he hits a note that indie music in the eary 2000's had. Since 9th wonder kind of botched JUSTUS League he gives me the shit I need in a overly saturated cash money/weak lyrics great beats market.

He's also not overtly arrogant like Lupe and can still get deep without being pretentious.

I don't like his beats from what I've heard except "Swimming Pools" cause dat trap shit. And I don't like his voice or his flow. I don't get it either, but whatevs.

A quick skimming of T&Y and I can tell at least that I'll like the beats better than most of kendricks stuff. His voice is less annoying than kendricks too but the flow is just as bad.

Well when we cross that bridge we'll see what happens....but so far I don't think the album is getting out of my playlist just yet. The same reason that I played Operation Doomsday out the whole summer of 2004. Once you experience a timeless record...there's no dying down of how much you play it.

I don't get the Kendrick hype either. I think he's good but I don't know why he gets so much more publicity than other good rappers. Lupes album to me is a better album from this year and he's always had more to say and more interesting ways to say it over Kendrick.

He's talented and I suppose Youth proves that more than most of his recent work. The problem for me is that Youth never reaches a decent peak. Just because the valleys aren't as bad as Lasers', I still don't want to listen to consistent mediocrity.

At least I could pull a song or two off of Lasers and F&L2. I'll keep a look out for future Lupe projects, but at this point I don't expect him to reach The Cool level again. He needs better (more interesting) production.

Fjordson, i mess with you, as i see you in the Jazz hop thread. I like you, and i respect your opinion, i just always thought he was very weak and cant take him seriously.

That said he is killing it, but in different ways than Ken

Are you saying most of Kendrick's songs are trap shit, or that Swimming Pools is? Either way you're off

If there's any one thing I can say about T & Y is that it's getting buried this year.
2015 be that year we got too much on the plate. Everyone's eating.

No. T & Y is poor by itself.

Put in context with some of Lupe's other works and it is unlistenable.

Wow. Album is very very solid, and a true follow up to Food and Liquor.

You listen to Tetsuo and tell me its unlistenable after going back and listening to LASERS.

Unlistenable lmfao, myriad hyperboles in this thread

If I'm honest with myself, it's mediocre. I probably will never listen to it again tho. It has some nice production, but Lupe's lyricism and song concepts are still laughable.

I like Madonna and Prisoner 1 & 2.

I didn't even like Kendrick Lamar that much (swimming pools is an awful song) but TPAB is a really good album... don't really know what else to say
