of course it's supposed to be stupid

Dat fuckin midriff tho
Very well said, I love it! Is that phrase yours?Stupidity is always part of the theme in Imaishi's anime; textually in both Gurren-Lagann and Panty & Stocking. Not to mention the narrative is always "flawed chaotic heroes reaching for diversity vs righteous orderly villains reaching for perfection".

Why no mention of Black Rock Shooter TV? That's definitely the stupidest show he's worked on, and the one most similar to this.
Dat fuckin midriff tho
Macaroon allergy, I suspect.
Ryuuko's pose is incredibly contorted; I can't help but wince in pain looking at her.
That wasn't his show, though. He handled the only good part about BRS.
This called "stupidity" seems like a form of enlightenment in a similar way Karl Pilkington is a visionary of our 'information' era! :-DLampshading. It's supposed to be stupid in order to convey stupidity is like being boring in order to convey boringness.
I wouldn't always entirely trust things characters say, tho, unless the writing in question is supposed to be awful by turning them into mouthpieces I guessssssss.

Kinda boring/bad but the animation will help.
Not really feeling the trailer. Generic generalized complaint: doesn't have the swag or style of his earlier shows.
Oh Japan....Woah that design is.....The thing is though I kinda like it and I kind of don't. Don't know maybe if the character was older I'd be fine with it but as of now I can't say I'm fond of it. Still watching though if I get the chance.
It feels a lot more over-stylized than Gurren-Lagann.
Lacks the swag of TTGL.
Weird clashing tones. Some heavy saturated imagery, then humor, like, is Imaishi going to handle this well?
He he, was thinking on that classroom from episode 6 of P&SwG as I read this you wrote, although that was more like just shunning the annoying geeks rathers than a more generally socialized thing as this seems to be.I don't think the tones felt particularly clashy; the comedy bits fit right in with the rest of the atmosphere. It's never completely serious and the comedy just adds to the whole "low-end classroom with no hopes for the future" thing.
Other than that one scene, I thought the suit looked fine:

Acceptable because capes are cool as fuck:

I also think the PV was cut a bit awkwardly and there seemed to be more stills than I was expecting but otherwise I very much liked what I saw. I LOVE Ryuuko's voice, can't say that enough.
Yeah, because you can't see it.
The reason those shots look fine is because you can't really see it.
