Kill la Kill |OT|

Tsumugu got his introduction in the best episode of the show, then basically lost all relevance after that. Felt like they were going somewhere with him again with the whole dead sister backstory, but that got shelved immediately, so lol.

If Hiroshi Kobayashi directed every episode of Kill la Kill, it would be a better show!

Yes, it doesn't really work well outside the context of the show - only a couple of the tracks are decent, and it seems to be missing a lot of the cool ones (e.g. that track when Tsumugu was sliding into action last episode)

I'm going to check now but I thought that was a segment from Suck Your Blood

EDIT: Yeah if you're talking about the GOOD LOOKIN part, that's definitely from Suck Your Blood

(NSFW Link as I assume all of the Nudist Beach tags are what's causing the NSFW related videos)

That is kinda disappointing. I doubt it but does it have any of the 2 opening songs?

Man, to think if they used their episode time better, Tsumugu might still have use.

If the show were paced better, a lot of things about the show would be better! Maybe I wouldn't be routing for a somewhat tyrannical but undeniably effective dictator if the writing was better! Maybe if Sawano wasn't such a shit composer there'd be more than 3 acceptable tracks in the OST!

Yeah, like imagine if episode 4 hadn't been a dumb filler/padding episode that killed the pacing set up by episode 3 (yeah I'm coming back to this opinion now that it's clear Maiko's not coming back).

If the show were paced better, a lot of things about the show would be better!

This is also true. Though I think it just comes down to needing better writers.

Now I'm kind of worried about the writing quality of LWA2.

I should clarify that there is nothing wrong with episodes that don't advance an overall plot, but when a show finds itself unable to do what it needs to then clearly it could have been scheduled differently. It's like taking nice long showers but when you need to leave in twenty minutes it needs to be cut short.

It would be hard for Ryuko to work toward anything like Satsuki if no one gave her a clue of what the hell is going on. If Ryuko was told at a very young developing age like Satsuki, "You better get something put together or else humanity is doomed", she would probably get more in gear from the start.

That's why I like how Ryuko called Aikuro out for his bullshit in episode 9, when he told her to not fight the Elite Four, but of course still refused to tell her anything she wanted to know. Being kept in the dark like this, she was forced to play Satsuki's little game of "beat the crap out of everyone in my school and I'll talk". A game that lasted eleven episodes, and could have been even longer if Nui didn't end it abruptly.

As much as I like most of the characters in this show and enjoy watching them interact with each other, I wouldn't even be mad if Dark Ryuko killed half of the "good guys". Aside from the Mankanshoku family and Senketsu, they are all partly responsible for Ryuko's current condition.

Doesn't read OPs, especially not his own

His backstory got explained more just 2 or 3 episodes ago.

I disagree completely, I've been having it playing in the background while I grind in Marvel Heroes or FF14 lately and it's made daily dungeons and such a lot more enjoyable. "Oh boy, kill 50 more AIM Specialists..." and then one of Satsuki's themes will start playing and it suddenly becomes fucking awesome.

If it helps, we had a discussion a few pages back of which track is which "theme", and a lot of them are split into halves. I added notes to each track like "Alternate Satsuki Theme" or "Gamagoori/Jakuzure Theme" to make it easier to find specific songs as well. Stuff like "Blumenkranz" and "Before my body is dry" were already self explanatory.

Not explicit spoilers for the other Trigger anime, but implications below. Don't read if you are one of the 12 people who haven't seen it yet.
Anyone else starting to have flashbacks to how crushing that last episode of Gurren Lagann was? I don't know enough about anime to keep myself from worrying KLK is going to go bittersweet as well...

Wow, you are indeed correct - I normally skip that track by that point so hadn't spotted it before. Thanks for the heads up. Loved that sequence in the show (despite it ending not very well for him).

Which reminds me, when the parents threw that first baby out, was that supposed to be Satsuki? As I've been wondering if he's the first thrown out child thus the weird red hair streak.

.

Why? LWA and KLK have like no overlap in regard to Script or Series Composition credits. The closest is Hiromi Wakabayashi who wrote/co-wrote the script for KLK episode 4 and was involved in "Story Cooperation" for LWA. Paranoid much :p

I really enjoyed Episode 4... it was a ton of fun.

Still stand by my belief that people who are bothered by shit like episode four are trying to take this show way more seriously than it takes itself. Episode 4 was practically a PSG episode.
