It looks like after yesterday's little "accident", Madman might have lost their streaming rights for KLK. Either that, or they've taken everything down while trying to secure it from leaking again. RIP.

That's happened before. These publishers take breaches like this incredibly seriously.

Better get your American VPN/Proxies ready for next Thursday, Aussies.

Just watched episode 5 and 6 after almost giving up the series due to the amount of fanservice upsetting me. It seems that both of these episodes have toned down on that, leaving place for much more interesting character interaction/backstory and action, which is far more appealing to me.

Then I'd just stop watching again if it ever gets to the point where I can't tolerate it anymore. As it stands now with the two previous episodes, it no longer seems to be a focal point of the series and has opened me up to what can be so great about Kill la Kill instead.

Also, naked male transformations.

The fanservice never went away. It's just busy giving equal time.

I disagree. I think it was episode 4 where a recurring joke was that Matoi's pajamas kept getting pulled down, distracting her allies and hindering their goal to return her outfit? That kind of shit was definitely not in episode 5 or 6.

I don't mind some stuff like that elite four dude's power armor's eyes keeping track of Matoi's movements accompanied with lewd close-ups since it literally lasts only a few moments, but I do mind when that stuff is in the spotlight and lasts long enough to genuinely bother me, which was the case with previous episodes.

So you're fine with glowing pecs/nipples and male ass cheeks? But pull a pants gag on a girl and you get disgusted?

Pretty much, yeah. In addition to the way those scenes were depicted (female transformation sequence = male transformation sequence in my eyes), I also don't equate seeing a man's glowing pecs with seeing constant, prolonged shots of an underaged girl's breasts and ass.

Ha, again, that's not the same kind of fanservice I was referring to. Seeing another dude's pecs won't bother me as much as seeing something like that from a female character.

It's really dumb, but I wish they had just made her/everyone else 18 instead of 17/maybe 18 so that we didn't need to ever have this conversation.

Do most people who watch the show even know about their age? Can't remember a scene where it's stated, though it could be implied with the high school setting.

In my case, at least, I don't care whether they're 17 or 18.

Episode 6 was really good, I liked how they put a spin on the usual "good guy fights enemy, gets bodied, fights them again and wins."

I know Matoi is 17, and I'm the same person who thought Simon was ~10 and Yoko 17+ until I was almost done with Gurren Lagann. I think there's a scene where Matoi's age is stated, but either way, there are numerous things that give the impression of the characters being in their later teenage years.

The age of the characters aside, it's funny: I find the fan service in this show to be weirdly inoffensive. Like much of the show, it has a self-aware, humorous, almost ridiculous touch to it, such that I find it impossible to see characters like Matoi as sexualized. It's like the show is asking you to be comfortable with skin, as much as it is giving you an opportunity to ogle at it.

This is probably extreme, but in a way, I can see the show to the very core not being for you if you find the fan service so terrible to behold. :p

I was wondering if this series was halfway finished after the first of the 4 elite was defeated.
But then on the rematch he went all Daredevil on this bitch, both figuratively and very literally. (I had a feeling he'd take his sight out of the equation for his "resolve")

Episode 6.

Man, Sensei is really hilarious. Love that guy. NUDIST BEACH!

Overall, great episode. Pride and determination can make you do the most crazy of things, and it seemed to have worked out for Sanageyama the second time around. Hopefully, Matoi bounces back.

This show doesn't know how to stop being good.

Meh... At first I was really excited about this show, but I've gotten really tired of it.. I guess I'll continue watching but I'm almost forcing myself already. Maybe I should just wait until the show is over and then watch it all in one go, that'd be probably more enjoyable.

zomg, I find this show so morally compunctilicious because I have no sense of self and just listen to society tell me what's right and wrong, and this is obviously wrong because there's this intersection of sexism and underagism in my area that makes me have to state roundly how profoundly wrong I find this. Also penis, stop engorging with my blood, you're not senketsu.

Nuuuuuuuudist, BEEAAAAAACCCCHHHHHH.

Another really strong episode. Was not anticipating that kind of armor. I'm also shocked by how much I enjoyed Sawano's soundtrack this week. Dear god, what the hell is happening to me?!

Episode 6

I don't think I enjoyed this quite as much as 5, but it was still great. It might have been good if there were more time to let Uzu dwell on the events in the middle of the episode, but I'm really pleased with how the series has handled its turn towards seriousness. Ryuuko clearly still has another step to take before she starts fulfilling her potential. I expect that to be tied to figuring out what she's actually fighting for.

The writing deserves more credit than it gets. Even when it's soaked in exposition, I feel like every dialogue brings across the personalities of the characters. Whether it's Ryuuko not being able to take Aikurou seriously, or how the respect between Satsuki and Uzu was demonstrated through the brief teacup skirmish, I always feel like each conversation tells us something about the characters, in addition to the information about the show's history or rules that we receive. It never wastes my time.

As consistently great as Kill la Kill has been so far, it feels to me like the best moments are still yet to come. I like that feeling.

First legitimately good episode of the series, though the previous one has some solid moments as well. Happy to see the show hitting its stride now and not relying purely on action/humor.

someone posted an interesting (still wrong imo, but it makes you think) theory on 4chan:

So when Monkey said he couldn't drink tea anymore, did anyone else get the feeling that he was lying because he thought he was too good for Satsuki?

Before he got his super senses, he thought that Satsuki was still leagues above him with lines like "you were holding back, right?". He wanted to have tea with her because it would have meant they were more equal.

But, when he got his super sense, he realize just how weak Satsuki had gotten and now he no longer respects her. The idea that he would drink tea with her is now reversed in that he didn't want to lower himself to be her equal,

I think it might be a bit of over analyzing but given what is going on with Satsuki
having some sort of drawback from wearing the suit, it makes you wonder. she thought he was sneaking from behind but he appeared in the front
.

I do think that holds water, and while I didn't get that impression when he
turned down the tea
, leading up to it I thought it was gonna go that route

I doubt its because
he feels he is inferior to her, but those heightened sense might mean he will start to see the big picture and switch sides at some point/

I'm not so sure. He already stated he was as strong as her 3 years ago in the episode and wondered if she was holding back. Him fighting Ryoko may have been a way to test how he would fare against Satsuki, since they were evenly paired with their clothes. Since he won handily and even deceived Satsuki's senses, he might think he's stronger than her now.

There's also the analogy Dresden brought up.
Sanegayama closed his eyes to the world, whereas Satsuki seems to be getting weaker due to her clothing (maybe because she doesn't recognize it like Ryuko does to Senketsu?), which is probably a plot point to her eventually changing her ways. I can imagine Satsuki fighting in Ryuko's side and against Sanegayama again might happen.

Sorry, but I'm the last person to care about society's fixation with sexism or what have you.

At yet you felt the need to mention that she's underage?

Yes, to provide contrast between the example mentioned of glowing pecs and the girl's scantily clad shots. I don't have a problem with her being underage, I have a problem with seeing too much female skin, especially presented in a "facetious" manner.

Uh, what? That's just stupid. I don't care if you don't have a problem with it, but I hope you're not implying something realistic or my thoughts with that idiotic image.

I presume the people whining about the underage stuff are American... The age of consent in Japan (you know where they make this anime yes? starts at 13 though it varies by Municipality. Here in England the age of consent is 16.

Only partly true. Virtually all Japanese prefectures set the age of consent to 16, even if 13 is the central government's limit.

Additionally, most US states have their age of consent at 16 or 17, too.

Okay. Your issue, then, isn't one of principle against fan service in general, but one of personal discomfort - unless there's a double standard at play here. It's hard to argue what you should or shouldn't be comfortable with.

That said, I honestly find it surprising you had such a huge problem with Matoi's pajamas being pulled down as a gag, yet apparently found it easy enough to coast through an episode where Matoi was violently beaten. I didn't even see the former as fan service when I first saw it, but the latter was legitimately difficult for me to watch at times.

To be fair, that's a standard shounen trope.

Yeah, I'm not criticizing the show, but it looked pretty painful at times - particularly that last blow.

Ryoko has been humbled these past two episodes, that's for sure. I don't remember a shonen where an Antagonist was beating the hero so bad so early.
