Episode 6
I don't think I enjoyed this quite as much as 5, but it was still great. It might have been good if there were more time to let Uzu dwell on the events in the middle of the episode, but I'm really pleased with how the series has handled its turn towards seriousness. Ryuuko clearly still has another step to take before she starts fulfilling her potential. I expect that to be tied to figuring out what she's actually fighting for.
The writing deserves more credit than it gets. Even when it's soaked in exposition, I feel like every dialogue brings across the personalities of the characters. Whether it's Ryuuko not being able to take Aikurou seriously, or how the respect between Satsuki and Uzu was demonstrated through the brief teacup skirmish, I always feel like each conversation tells us something about the characters, in addition to the information about the show's history or rules that we receive. It never wastes my time.
As consistently great as Kill la Kill has been so far, it feels to me like the best moments are still yet to come. I like that feeling.
