Please tell me you aren't that God awful poster Moonlight Ninja from the ultra-combo forums that never stfu about Eyedol..this sounds exactly like something he would say.
 
I'm kinda confused. I tried to start the game last night and I got a message after the intro logos that said "There is a newer version of this game. Download it at the Windows store. Press A to exit game."

I go to the Windows store, and there's nothing. Just a prompt to start the game which starts up the same press A to exit game loop. Wat?

This is on Win 10.

Which version of Win 10 are you on? I believe the game now requires the Anniversary Update (ver 14933.xxx)

(hit start and type winver to easily check)

Wonderful. Anniversary update nearly bricked that PC. It was completely unusable (like wait 10 minutes to have it attempt to open a program then immediately crash once it did) so I had to roll it back.
 
Got a really long email survey from Microsoft Studios about KI. Lots of "rate how important is this to you" type questions about various modes, features, play habits, etc. I didn't mind going through it as it's encouraging in terms of potential IP support. Might be worth a look in your email or junk folder if you have any interest in such feedback.
 
Wanted to purchase Kilgore today, but he just shows up as "Coming Soon" on both PC & Xbox and I can't purchase him. Any ideas on what's going on?
 
Well, that's annoying since I just put $10 on my account. I wonder then if Shin Hisako will come in at $5 or if she'll have a community fund attached to her.
 
It seems the PC Version of KI is currently broken for new buyers.
Since last weekend there are a lot of reports on the official Forums from people who bought the game but can only play the free characters.

I overall had a lot of problems since its PC release last year:

-At first I wasn't able to download the game, a bug that was fixed later...
-at some point the game just vanished from my windows store library, only to reappear a few weeks later.
-I can only play online and don't have any characters available, when going offline.
Offline mode works fine for some people, but is broken for others, depending on the store you bought it: Windows- or Xbox-store

The most frustrating part, despite nummerous threads on the forums. The devs just completely ignore this problems...

There's been issues getting access to the purchased DLC characters on PC since launch on the platform. Most of the time it has to do with obtuse settings that have to be set-up on Win10. Here's what I found to help resolve the issue if you want to give a go:

  • Press Start > Type Location > Change your Country or Region > Set to the right Country
  • Press Start > Type Clock > Change date and time > Addition date & time settings > Date & Time > Internet Time > Change Settings > Update now
  • Press Start > Type Update > Select 'Check For Updates' then select it again
  • Press Start > Type Firewall > Select Windows Firewall > Turn on the Firewall to get a Teredo address
  • Press Start > Type Store > Select Store > In the top right corner select your picture > Select Download and Updates > Check for updates and update everything
  • Press Start > Type Xbox > Select Xbox> Look for Killer Instinct and boot it from the Xbox app

Her instinct doesn't seem to do that much dmg, its almost more for the fear factor.
Visually I think she's pretty boring, not really having anything stand out, gameplay wise she looks great.
I feel they designed her for people who like Hisako but don't like to play her.

Shin Hisako is looking good~

She has a simple gameplan, but has a lot of tricks at her disposal. I wouldn't mind learning her.


Now we just have one character left--the totally original character. Eagle or bust!!





Joanna Dark is also fine.

I'd say it's more fun to learn the combos/timing the right way (and it's not that hard), but if you want it to be a bit more button mashy, then go ahead :)

I think the one major drawback is that you're locked into only one combo ender(I could be wrong about this). Every character has multiple combo enders that are all beneficial in some capacity--some give you meter, some cause a hard knockdown, a wallsplat, a launch, ect...


I also think you're locked into one linker, which isn't *too* bad, but sometimes certain linkers are harder to react to.

With Combo Assist ON you can still do everything you can do with it OFF, it's just that it requires additional directional input. Combo Assist is nifty when picking up a new character or starting the game. You can also customize it to only have selective aspects of it on (The Ultra assist stays useful at almost all skill levels)

So for example with the Ender Combo assist if you press F+HP you get 1 ender, and if you press F+HK you get another ender. But you can still do the enders with the usual motion, so you're not locked out of using the others. Same for the other type of assists, usually hold back and you can still perform the special motion for the specific stuff you want.
