Eh, I've had plenty of Boulevard and it is definitely good, but I'd still choose a few from the Schlafly portfolio first.

They're definitely still the top dog, just losing market share to a billion different microbrewers.
 
I homebrew 5 gallon batches in a plastic bucket, and my least impressive recipes are at least as good as budweiser...most are far better.

Budweiser needs to use more malt and hops and less rice in their recipe.

I'm brewing a Saison with Aramis hops next, that already sounds better than bud
 
I only drink Bud on days when it's the cheapest thing at the bar, like $5 for all you can drink......otherwise, give me a PBR or a good stout....or let me try one of them new craft beers you got in.
 
As a craft brew advocate and homebrewer this makes me smile a bit. As St. Louisan, I'm afraid of the impact on an already decaying city. AB is a pretty big pillar in this shithole of a town.

And there's no need for beer snob vs big brew advocate debates. Think of it as a quality vs quantity kind of enjoyment. :P
 
They can just buy the craft breweries, which they already started with Goose Island.

I still laugh when people say Stella, Hoegaarden, Blue Moon and Shock Top are "craft" beers.
 
I don't know anything about beer so I looked up IPA.

Urban dictionary:

imagine a good beer. now imagine a field of hops in the beer. bitter and disgusting beer only drank by snobs who think they are better than you.

Granted it wasn't the first definition, lol.

They used dogs, glass beer cans playing football, frogs, and horses. the beer is shitty, but the marketing is legendary.

I like Miller High Life. It's like water and I mean that in a good way - has no taste, goes down smooth, costs nothing, and gets you drunk.
 
The big 3 brewers have lost so much favor with knowledgeable beer drinkers that they go out of their way to hide their name when they release "craft" beer. How sad is that? You finally try and brew quality beer and you have to try and slip it onto the shelf without anyone knowing that it's yours.

I moved to St Louis for school in 2008 right after this happened; I imagine Schlafly (local craft beer) people were rocking the eff out at the news.

Ok so what's considered the best beer in the PA area? Give me a cheap one and a more expensive one. I don't really drink beer.

It always goes fast, some people call their local stores to find out ahead of time when it's coming. I had an Elder at a pub last Saturday. Always get it whenever I see it.
 
Shocktop isn't too bad on a hot day. I am glad to see more small breweries getting a piece of the pie. Saw a documentary on how difficult it is to get shelf space with the giants of brewing and it was disheartening.

yeah I don't really know about it myself, an uncle of mine from Sacramento pulled it out of his secret garage fridge when I was down last Thanksgiving. handed it to me with a shiteating grin and said "enjoy" and boy did I. he had said he had to drive out to the brewery when the batch came out, was probably unclin' about how difficult it was to get.

appreciated his effort though, whatever it actually was.

When I called my local Whole Foods last Friday and told me they have Pliny the Elder in stock I rushed there with the quickness...I get there and grab a shopping cart ready to buy a case...only to walk out with only one friggin' pint bottle =(

With it in such high demand and to be fair they can only sell one bottle per person lol...I go back there later in the day to find it completely sold out.

Anyways, that stuff is dang good...the ultimate beer to pair with pizza and wings (which I think the Russian River Brewery Pub in Santa Rosa specializes in too). Definitely ain't no joke, yo.
 
I'm generally a pretty easygoing dude who doesn't get his jimmies rustled easily but there's something intangible about beer snobbery and the whole micro-brew craze in general that I find just insufferable.
 
I can't find any of the big craft beers anywhere in KC. No Heady Topper, neither of the Pliny's, no Zombie Dust... Shit blows.

The BAR (beer above replacement) is also taking in to account check-ins, wOBA (weighted overall beer adjusted) removes the check-in component. I'm sure that's why, it's everywhere.
