Kingdom Come: Deliverance II ⊰♖|OT|♖⊱ Stop! Or My Henry Will Swing His Sword!

I have to say that towards the end of the first map, the game gets kind of boring.
The wedding was cool, but the back and forth around Semine, Trosky and Nebakov is too linear and has too much blather, IMO. I'm starting to skip dialog and really don't care about the narrative anymore.
Hopefully they will set me free again once this story chore is done, and I can write my own story again on the Kuttenberg map.

Yes, you will be free again. ;) I personally liked the pacing mix between open world exploration and cinematic story part. I dont see that so often. Its either one or the other in most games.

Just finished the story and all side missions.
I feel empty. KCD and it's sequel are two of the best games I've ever played. The immersion is on a whole other level.
I can't wait for some DLC to drop so I can start the game over again. It feels like forever ago since I stole the maypole from Tachov. Or that time when me and Klara had our moment outside the walls of Nebakov fortress.
I wish all games were as good as this one but alas, they're few and far in between.
Yeah I know the end is creeping up on me so I haven't played it in a few days cause I don't want it to end..

So I just got to the quest with the bathwenches complaining about the chamberlain ulrich guy having a weird fetish. Completed the quest after a few hours and, well, we never really found out what his 'fetish' was though I am concluding that he was into eating human shit or something, there was quite a few clues alluding to it...

As it finally dawned on me when capon said 'his breath smells like shit' I was chuckling to myself... and then seconds later, in a perfect moment of syncrhonicity as it dawned on me...

Heny: 'I feel quite hungry'

LOL

Just did Italian Job, what a brilliant quest. It had everything, long well written dialogue (in Latin no less), some stealth , some action, some emotion, some flirting, great music. I really do not want this adventure to end, dammit.

The attire I happened to acquire on my quest from the dungeon to this lad's (Istvan's) chamber proved to be quite fitting:

Why they didn't add a romance option right there is beyond me... because
I don't know where Klara is :messenger_crying:

Later on, I helped out Godwin, who was cornered by the remaining guards I couldn't stealth murder before. They pinned him down at the chapel. Don't know if it was scripted or a dynamic event, but it was fun.

Now I'm free again and ready to explore Kuttenberg!

FINALLY beat this a couple hours ago.

Epic in app the right ways. I took a week off due to being an idiot discouraged and all I had to do was sleep one or two nights for the story to engage again. That's what happens when I forget or don't pay attention.

I'm going back to the Trosky region and doing clean up on locations and side missions and generally exploring the map.

Going back to the other map makes the game feel fresh again as I haven't gone back since I left. So much to do.

I saw the story DLC roadmap and between doing other quests and finding hidden things in the map, I'll be busy for a while.

The only downside is waiting years for the next game.

I hear the writing is great and all. And honestly, I know this is geared more towards players that want a medieval sim. As much as I want to play this, the impressions of the less than great combat gives me pause.

This is on a slight sale on PSN and I'm kinda tempted to make the jump.

I don't mind the combat. it isn't great but its passble once you level up a bit and it does feel like your sword fighting in a ton of steel armour.

Game is fantastic. It's not everyones cup of tea, I can see that but I can't recommend it enough. Easy one of the best RPG's ever.

I honestly want them to do a different game. I love KCD to death, but their level of quality would do absolutely incredible in a more fantasy styled RPG or something.

Whatever they make, I'm in. I agree but maybe they can expand and keep their ethos with 2 studios. Not sure what they want to do but they are building equity. Maybe some baby steps and anothe KCD to grow and expand. Rome wasn't built in a day after all.

I'd love them to take on Robin Hood for sure. Or maybe a King Arthur game if they wanted to lean into fantasy a bit.

Loving the game so much. After doing like 40 hours of sidequests in the Kuttenberg region I've finally gone back to the main quest and it's so, so good! Better written than most games I've played and many TV shows as well.

Any news on the hardcore mode guys ?
I know 1.3 that will include it is in internal testing and should be releasing soon. In fact HC-in-dev was already part of 1.2 but since it was unfinished and buggy and some people were enabling it via dev console, it was removed in 1.2.2

What does hardcore mode actually change? Is it a huge overhaul or just adds more strict hunger and thirst needs etc?

In the first game it removes most of HUD elements, hides Henry GPS icon on the map (my favourite change), adds negative perks (like my favourite sleepwalker, where you can sometimes wake up in random places), disables fast travel, rebalances the economy a bit etc.
I played KCD1 only with HC and planned to do second as well if it was in at launch. But since it is coming later I will leave it for second playthrough in few years.

The devs announced that the hardcore mode in the second game will be very similar to what was in the first (with slight changes in negative perks)

its the way to play the game imho

I love how just anyone and everyone can be piss drunk at any time. Makes for some funny moments when someone appears all drunk the middle of a quest.

High praise! It's on sale via PSN for $66.49/$80.99. Not much of a sale, but may just buy now. Any stand out benefits of the Gold Edition?

Was planning on getting AC:Shadows, but this may be more bang for the buck.

Think the Gold edition may have the DLC included.

Folks in the Shadows OT seem to be enjoying that game well enough, but the folks in here will all tell you the same thing, this is an all timer.

Just fair warning, it chucks you in at the deep end and is quite dialogue heavy at times and you do need to pay attention (and will be rewarded for doing so). If you are the type of gamer that skips cutscenes and dialogue then your milage may vary.

If you do get it, report back and let us know how you get on.

The story dlc Is going to be accessible after you finished the main quest, right? Because I remember one of the DLC's in previous game took place a bit after the start somehow in the mill when talking to this girl... (this is basically spoilerfree).

Anyway, kcd2 is a fantastic game and runs great on ps5 pro. Buy it and support, if you haven't yet. It's not woke, it's well written and it's all in all a breath of fresh air in the gaming world.

The only criticism I could have, is the side quests are so good that I managed to be completely overlevelled for the main quest by the time I started it. It's still great though.

Superlatives are well deserved. For a veteran gamer (+25 years of gaming counts, right?), this is one that managed to capture my attention very long and I tend to lose it quite fast nowadays.

I hate openworld pandering, icon hunting, timewasting games as a parent with a busy job, but this one, I love coming back to whenever I can. Still such finish it either and it's been the only game I played since release.

This is how I felt about the first one. Combat got much better once I got my dog with me also.

At the beginning of the second map, I finally put on some (stolen) armour pieces, 'cause I didn't manage to survive this pistol ambush encounter mission.
I should have done it way earlier. Armour is king!
This breastplate I "borrowed" from the Devil's Den makes me basically unvulnerable.

So I still don't regret putting cocky Tomcat out of his misery. Who needs honorable, sophisticated combat skills?! If stealth killing is not possible, I simply switch to brute force tank mode now. :messenger_sunglasses:
... what have I become? :messenger_face_screaming:

Just finished the game.

Barack Obama Applause GIF by Obama

Might be the best RPG I've played. There's a bit of jank and I don't know if the final stretch felt like it went too fast or it's just that even after 130 hours I still want more game.

The NPCs are hilarious at times.

So I got up at 11 p.m. to do some alchemy in Kuttenberg.
In order to get this midnight potion bonus, I had some time to kill and opted to "visit" the nearby merchant, but was a bit too loud, so this guy went looking for me.
After he stopped doing so, I snuk away back to the alchemy bench and started brewing, as this fucker suddenly came up behind me out of nowhere.
Trapped at the bench, I thought I was done for, but it gave me some sort of plot armour; he didn't call the guards nor attacked me.

No, it was worse, way worse.
This maniac started rebuking me, told me to piss off, and just did not stop.
On top, some cats were fucking each other up all night long.
Man, I was so stressed out, mixing up things due to the incessant harassment.

Thank God, the wanker left at dawn to open his shop or take a leak or whatever. I would have taken proper care of him otherwise.

Question:

During the last parts of the game they mention how Sir Divish hasn't been able to come because her wife is expecting a child, which surprises everyone because of Sir Divish' old age. Am I to assume the dad is Henry?

If so, he should learn to pull out. Might be a skill in KCD3.

It is implied as a possibility in discussion between Hans and Hanush you can eavesdrop on, but it is never straight up confirmed, intentionally so. Player can decide what they want to think about that.

It's been a few days since I finished this game and I've been stricken by the gamer blues. I miss the world, the characters, the music and everything else about it. Warhorse better keep making those kino (actual) RPGs because there really is nothing else like them.

Speaking of the OST, the "soundtrack essentials" is available to listen to on Spotify:

That's cool, love when some things are left for the player´s interpretation.

Hardcore mode and 1.3 coming next week.

I will use ALL the negative perks on my second playthrough.

Yeah I think I'll be replaying this one for sure, maybe in a year or two. Think I already did most of what you can do in the game, but hardcore mode is a nice excuse to come back. Maybe even replay both games back to back.

In a few years you also have all the dlc's...making it also a good excuse to come back. Did the same with KCD1.

Yeah I also plan to replay both in couple years, with czech VO so it will be refreshed, plus KCD2 in HC and with all upcoming DLCs.
With CZ VO the gypsies are all voiced by actual czech gypsies which should be hilarious.

anyone tried the hardcore mode yet ?

Not sure about the perks to choose (except for Numbskull, definitely taking this one)
Nope! I'll give the game a year or two and then replay the whole thing in hardcore mode.

I'll probably pick all the perks if that's possible.

I also thought I would do that, but since Bashful disables the "ask for directions" mechanics and I think that is way too cool a mechanic, I will skip that one.
Might also skip punchable face since I like enemies surrendering.

Aw shit, in that case I'll skip bashful as well. Don't remember being able to ask for direction in KCD1, sounds like a pretty cool feature.

My mom and pop finally had a copy of this and I have a metric shit ton of credit with them. I'll be diving in this weekend. I forgot how painful PS5 disc installs are. Woof!

I haven't had any interest in gaming for over a week. Everything I fire up I play for 5 minutes and get bored. Nothing on pc , ps5, or switch remotely has interested me.

I fired this back up on a whim, and played it for about 6 hours straight.

I'm awful at the game. The progress is slow, the save system sucks, and the combat feels punishing.

Either way kept me reeled in. Likely because I really want the oblivion remake and this fills that itch.

I learned the master strike so I'm hoping combat will be a little more doable now and not just parry, attack to get blocked, repeat 4 times until I finally get one hit in. Now wait for stamina to restore.

I still haven't got Mutt back or gotten into the wedding.

The progress is slow
The start of the game is the hardest part imo.

the save system sucks
Be mindful of the Save & Exit option in the menu. Also, weak saviour schnaps are cheap, or at least they'll become cheap once you stop being a beggar.

and the combat feels punishing.
Aside from parries and master strike, try learning a few combos with your weapon of choice. They are easy to do and are very useful. By the end of the game I was doing combos left and right, people would die just after 1 or 2.

Super into the game now.

Got my groove. Have 2,000 coins. Good gear. Buying save potions from shops. Doing all the side quests before going to the wedding.
