Kingdom Come - Realistic open-world Medieval RPG [Kickstarter]

I can now see it on the tree top but this is definitely something I wouldn't notice on first quick glance. Is it a problem? Why is it done?

It's just a bit weird that in other industies they spend a lot of effort and resources to minimize a distortion effect that the games industry desperately tries to simulate.

Tries to minimize, yes. But perfectly eliminating it is very very far off currently.
CAs are not going away, but they get less noticeable (especially if you don't look at images at full resolution).
The amount of CA in the video would be crazy bad for a current SLR lens.

BUT. The images do look more realistic (if the CA is not too overaggressive aka it is not noticed on first glance). Maybe I should post some comparison shots.

AND. It is fairly cheap. Especially compared to any other post-processing. You simply take the red channel, enlarge it a bit and shift minimally to the right, and do the same with the corresponding other channel eg blue.
Also it will soften up the edges a bit to help achieve a more natural antialiasing.

people with CryEngine-affinity (KKRT?) will also surely have noticed that it is not calculated for the whole image, but just the outer border (depending on the amount it will have mroe and more of the image though).

EDIT:
Also this
Look at tree line, cloth banner and fence edges, for example. Even the fence shadow has it.

seems to be much stronger than the default SDK settings...

I'd be interested in pledging but I only want the game. Why don't they let you do Act 1 + Act 2&3 addon? And why is PS4 only in the special mega edition but Xbone is in vanilla?

I really think the most recent video just had CA because it is on by default in the SDK. I would not read too much into it regarding what this game will have.

Would this definitely be worth getting behind? Also, what would the cost of the other Acts be when the game is released? Looks fun, different and gorgeous. Was thinking of doing the 25 Euro Baron Digital version.

I just registered for their forums but now I can't log in

It asks for a login and a password. What is the login supposed to be? Your user name, the code they sent, email address or your name that you registered with?

Your username. I can't seem to login right now either. The forum was pretty sluggish when I signed up earlier today but I could log in at the time. There's a banner on top of the page mentioning that they're transitioning servers so that might be causing the problem.

I would so kickstart this - I've kickstarted worse looking games.

But it's so beautiful I'm terrified it will never run on my PC.

Those new goals don't do much for me but I really hope we hit the 700,000 goal. That's something that is going to really benefit the game a lot.

That right there is a world I want to run around in. Already these guys have shown that they have a better idea how to develop an interesting overworld.

The nit-picky part of me still wants a third-person option. (It comes from playing with D&D miniatures, the Fallout games, and other quality RPGs with a third-person perspective). After seeing them demo a third-person camera and full player-character models, it seems like a natural option. And if they hit that mocap stretch-goal, even moreso.

The tournament mode stretch goal is not so interesting to me but the motion capture one is great and I like the in-game fencing lesson idea.

Obviously the big deal with that 800k goal is the combat academy (boring) but its so lame to me when some of those goals are only available to certain tiers.

to knight tier is exlusive only that instructional video with combat technices not the game content

Looks great, as usual. These guys are running a top-tier campaign.

I wonder how much of the final game will be tightly scripted versus open world sandbox.

Should hit 700K today or tomorrow, with a good spike at the end they should get over 1,000,000 easy. I hope that stretch Goal is something good.

Wow, even with the janky placeholder animations, the horse riding and combat look better than Skyrim. I have a lot of faith in this project.

Whoa, this game is definitely up my alley - I feel bad for just now finding out about it. Either way, it looks great especially considering how far they still have to go. Will definitely be keeping my eye on it.

the combat video was interesting although i personally would like it not to have a hit this button block any attack defense system. Something like mount and blade (or more complicated) would be preferable since they are seem to be going about action combat.

Game looks phenomenal though.

Niiiice, motion capture is a go.

Edit: Huh, looks like Microsoft's given the studio the greenlight to bring it to Xbox One. Come on Sony.

I wonder how we choose the directions with MB/Keyboard, since it's 5 of them.

I got the impression you choose the direction with the mouse, kind of like using a radial menu in games like Crysis and the like. Or "swing" the mouse in the given direction like in Mount & Blade.

Damn...my hype for this game can't be contained. I hope the story lives up to the combat mechanics.

What kind of power are you guys estimating will be needed for this game?
Are we talking 660...760...or is this going to be a 770/780 game?

I think with a GTX 660 you will be fine running the game on medium/1080p/30fps+, judging Crysis 3 and CryEngine 3 SDK.

But of course it will really depend on how the creators optimize for the open world. This can go very bad if they don't do it properly, it remains to be seen.
