3D more or less confirms the return of Roxas and Xion.

He announced that Keyblade Armor Batman will be in KHIII, as well a new partnership with DC comics. Finally, Sora and company will be fighting along side DC favorites such as Aquaman.
Joking aside, I haven't read any KH related news in a while other than the Limited Edition Pin with KH2.5. I dunno about you guys, but I like the cover art for KH2.5 with the exception of Master Xehanort's creepy mug.
KH1.5 had one of the best cover arts in recent memory, KH or otherwise.

I'm kind of sad they didn't bring them back for 3D, though the terrain may have proven a problem.
I honestly forgot what the changes were from Standard to Expert.
As DD said, they (2, 3D, BBS and CoM spoilers)
manifested separately, and KH has yet to decisively kill any character off aside from the Riku Replica

I'm tempted to play some KH again after I finish Digital Devil Saga 2.

Oh my fucking god, there's a 60 fps patch for KH2 and it runs perfectly on my PC in 1080p

Ah, merged with Ven might be a viable option. But isn't he already merged back with Sora? That's why I think Roxas coming back wouldn't really work. Unless it's when Ven gets his heart back from Sora. Roxas did have Ven's heart, right?

i believe that Roxas is the physical embodiment of Ventus's Heart. so we just need to unlock sora again, retrieve the heart, and put it back into a sleeping ventus

Yeah Xion has a much smaller chance of coming back. Shame, she's my favorite KH character too.
DDD very cryptically suggested he might come back for one last hurrah. Maybe.
I saw a video just recently. I didn't like how it speeds up the music. But yes, the smoothness of it all is more than my eyes could handle. so_good.gif

The irony of Xion/Roxas coming back is that it automatically ruins their characters that are supposed to be tragic.
This is true. Xion's whole tragic situation was what made me like the character. She was also one of the main reasons for Roxas's defection, right? I don't really see what they could do with her if she was brought back anyway.
I'm starting to think the return of Org 13 was an accident on Nomura's part. Re:Coded's ending revealed Xehanort can return because his Heartless and Nobody are dead, so there's the explanaton for why he could return, but then he realized that this would apply to all the Organization members, which is why the Radiant Garden members all pop in the same place at the same time despite them dying at separate times. Or maybe they did it just to get Axel back. They've never been shy in admitting how he's a favourite amongst the staff.
I just want to know why Xehanort is returning in his original form. Shouldn't he still be in Terra's body? For that matter, how are AnsemSOD and Xemnas, both fractions of a complete person, back in 3D?

The whole "There's no permanent death in the Kingdom Hearts universe" ruins any character disappearance.
It's amazing how pretty much every character that has "died" has managed to find a way to come back.
Look at Nobodies. Becoming a Nobody is basically the Horcrux of this series.

Axel dying: "Ah, at least I got to be with Roxas one last time, even if through Sora. I'm... glad. /dies"
1 month later: "Hey yo Sora, 'sup? It's me, Lea!"

In fact,
outside of Riku Replica, I can't think of an original KH character that has stayed dead or wasn't hinted to come back in some way in KH3. I'm honestly drawing a blank here. Help

Yep. But I wouldn't be wholly surprised if KH3 ends (very clumsily) with Sora/Riku/Kairi on Destiny Islands, Lea/Xion/Roxas in Twilight Town, and Terra/Aqua/Ventus in the Land of Departure. That would be an immensely stupid hit-the-reset-button of an ending, so I hope it's more interesting and consequential than that.
I'm cool with Roxas coming back if he merges with Ventus and Ventus has both of their memories (just like Lea being around doesn't mean that Axel has been somehow erased).
As for Xion and Naminé, not sure what to do with them. The series has really fucking forgotten about Naminé, lol.
We don't know that Terranort hasn't also been restored. I'd be wildly surprised if we don't see Terranort in KH3.

Even Nomura forgot about Naminé, to the point they've added 3 scenes (one in KH2 Final Mix, one in Re:coded and one in DDD) that reference the fact that the real Sora never thanked Naminé.

The thank Namine thing is made even better by him saying it to Riku and fuckin Xemnas :lol. Instead of the scene where Roxas/Sora+Kairi/Namine are together but I can see it would be awkward without VA.

I wonder if we're ever going to see the fully-empersoned version of some of the assorted lower-numbered original Organization XIII characters (read: Demyx, Luxord, Larxene, and Marluxia).
I know DreamDrop had a term he was using for that which doesn't appear anywhere in the series itself but which is an apt descriptor for what's needed (since saying "the person from whom [whichever Nobody] came," or something similar, is kind of a mouthful).

It's not like Roxas would be erased. The resulting person, named Ventus, would be just as much Roxas as Ven in terms of the composition of his memories. He'd still be friends with Lea and Xion.

I'd be down with Dagobah (visiting Yoda, chatting with him a lot about darkness and light, gaining a new ability, and going into the hallucination-cave to confront your worst fears as a boss). Not really any of the other worlds though.
It could be the return of Anti-form Sora or Sora's Shadow. Then leading to a lightsaber themed keyblade. Though I guess we already have Xemnas's dildos for lightsabers

Literally the main reason not to use Star Wars is that it is TOO MUCH like KH. Like, to the extent that Birth By Sleep's entire Terra plot was blatantly cribbed from it and so are Xemnas's Ethereal Blades.
When people say it's a poor fit I have to laugh.

I think the only tonally-appropriate Marvel Cinematic Universe tie-in would be Sora paying a visit to Asgard. You could even have Odin drop a reference to knowing about the other worlds, just like King Triton in KH1, because Asgard also exists at the center of a fictional-multiverse structure called the Nine Realms.
Then that would be the world he would learn Thunder at. He would, of course, learn Blizzard in the Frozen world ^^

so I recently started a playthrough of KH 1.5, and I'm at the part where i'm fighting Riku/Ansem (haven't beaten him yet though :/) this is my first time playing the Kingdom Hearts series, but I essentially already know everything about the series from when my brother played. (I.E. spoilers for most games aside from DDD are not a problem for me). I have a couple questions for you guys though. First, is there any order I should play the games in? I know there's a timeline (I.E. BBS -> KH1 -> Chain/358/2 -> 2, etc.), but is it better to play in order of release date, or does it not really matter?
Second, I have access to every KH game except BBS. Is it worth it to actually play 358/2 Days, or is it ok to just watch the "movie" in the 1.5 Remix. My brother really like Days, but I'm not sure if I want to play it at the moment.
There's going to be a gap for me while playing the series anyway, as I'm going to wait for the 2.5 Remix to come out before playing KIngdom Hearts 2, even though I own the PS2 version. I'm not really sure if that's a good decision though. I mostly want to wait so I can play through a bunch of other games I own beforehand.

Days is the best Kingdom Hearts game tbh

You should play Days if:
-You like Roxas as a character
-Want to play as members of the Organization
-You are willing to get past the limitations that the DS puts on the game
-Want a mission-based take on Kingdom Hearts
-Want to play with a new system, this system being the panel system.
If you just want the story, then watch the film. It's missing all of the fights I think (Most notably Roxas vs Saix) But I haven't seen the Days movie. It's up to you honestly.
I thought the whole mission-style gameplay brought it down. I prefer watching the movie just because of how slow the game feels. It doesn't play too much like a traditional KH game.
