It's only $19.99 at Best Buy this week (after using gamer's gift card coupon). That is very cheap considering this game is on a 256 mbit cartridge.

Sounds like a decent game, but I didn't really like the first Kingdom Hearts all that much

I'm definitely interested. From what I've played, it seems like a lot of fun. The card system is fast and works quite well. And the graphics are pretty cool too.

Getting it. I was down on GBA games there for a while, but the DS has reinvigorated me, and I've been playing Astro Boy nonstop the past few days. Finished it with all characters found just earlier today.

It's probably FMV from CoM.

Isn't CoM a bridge between KH and KH2? Maybe it has FMV that KH2 is gonna share. Unless you mean gameplay footage...then I don't know

Really liked what little I've played of the import, so I'm definitely picking this up, or at least shoving it into my Christmas list.

Those were likely the added "CG" scenes. They're spread throughout the game, and are a bit below PS2 quality (mainly due to compession). The intro scene picks right off where the first game ended, extending the last cutscene (running through the field), and introduces the new hooded characters (from KH2).

The screens don't do it any justice--the graphics are great, but the character animation and camera are amazing as well in the CG.

Best Buy has this gift card thingy at the video game section. You add cash to it like a gift certifcate. The catch is that this gift card comes with a $5 off coupon for games at $19.99 and up, making KoH $19.99 (24.99 - 5)

I played Kingdom Hearts and stopped midway because I didn't like it.

Can I pick this game up and understand the story without any trouble or is there a quick primer somewhere to bring me up to date?

The game retraces all the worlds and adventures Sora went thru in PS2 KH because Sora lost all of his memory, i think. It'll lead into KH2.

I'm in the same boat but I've been sworn to that this game is undeniable quality on the GBA and includes both clever level design and a fun an fufilling battle engine.

Well, you'd be missing out on the beginning to end of KH1. Chain of Memories is effectively KH1.5; it wraps up the first game, and sets everything up for the second.

The FMV really doesn't look all that good, in my opinion. It's higher quality than those crappy GBA Videos, but you can definitely tell it's been compressed to hell and back.

Quite a few GBA games have had it, if I'm not mistaken. Actually, there were a bunch of GBC games with (very brief) FMV intros, too.

Eh, I don't really care for FMV in GBA games. It's generally just there for the novelty of it and has to be so compressed that it just looks shitty. Traditional 2D games should stick to traditional 2D cutscenes, a la the ones in FF3, Chrono Trigger, whatever. A SNES-era looking game that suddenly busts into a grainy FMV sort of takes you out of the game. Put all that cartridge space to use with some voice or something...
