i finally started playing DDD again. i think it would really benefit from a console port. god knows the Trigger scrolling introduced in BBS FM HD would be a great improvment

Really silly that the Circle Pad Pro scheme didn't allow for that. They had two free shoulder buttons for it and everything.

Wow Aquas campaign is a master class in poor game design. Way to many exp walls due to her low attack

Aqua's meant to use magic early on (Well, in general, really). Having poor physical attack stat gains early on is supposed to reinforce that. You mostly want to be slinging spells with her instead of attacking physically.

Once you figure her out and get some of her beast commands/abilities, she's easily the most broken playable KH character aside from Re:CoM and KHII Sora. Aqua is where the game's battle system really comes into it's own, much moreso than with Terra or Ven.

Aqua feels weak early in the game, but you'll quickly notice her one-shotting enemies with elemental spells. By the time you play her campaign (assuming you save it for last), you should really have mastered deck-building and going for passive abilities and all of that good stuff. She'll *really* quickly start blowing enemies away with remarkable ease (and she generally gets vastly better endgame Deck Commands than anyone else). It's just early on when you have a really small deck and longer recharge times (and she dies in two hits) that she's annoying to play as.

Early on, if you're finding her dying a lot, make sure you take advantage of her cartwheel - she gets a shitload of invincibility frames from it.

Well then guess ive been playing her wrong. Really wish they would stop spending every story oppurtunity to say she is an amazing Keyblade master and literally never once mention her magic ability. Doesnt help they keep reinforcing that idea with blade centric transformations and finishing moves
EDIT: And now Im destroying everything. K really wished they had pointed out that she is useless otherwise in a cutscene or something.

Personally, I recommend going for the Magnet spells as soon as it's possible for Aqua to get them.

Magnega is the cornerstone of any good Aqua deck during the game. Gets even better when you can clear waves of Unversed in literally seconds with combinations like Magnega & Firaga Burst, Magnega & Thundaga, Magnega & Ice Barrage, etc...

So I beat all 3 campaigns... what now? Is this as far as Bbs' story goes?

There is still the last episode and secret episode. Depending on the chosen difficulties, you'll have to extra things in your files.

So I have three complete files. I loaded aquas and it doesnt seem any diff. Didnt get any notifications or anything. Bea all campaigns on Proud.

Proud? You need to complete the Sticker Collection with all three characters.

Then beat the game again with one of them (preferably Aqua tbh, since having Rhythm Mixer unlocked will come in handy in the Secret Episode), wait until the end of the credits, and when you get to make a clear save it ought to prompt you to also make a new save for the Final Episode.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. That is one hell of a hoop to jump through
Edit: Wow had no idea about placing stickers.....shit

I'm playing Birth by Sleep on Beginner. IS there a way to unlock final episode on this mode?
I already completed Ventus story.

No. If you want to witness all the content I suggest you speedrun through Ventus again in Proud(it's actually really fast if you skip all the cutscenes) and start in Proud with the other two.

I started up again too. I'm pretty close to the ending I think, but my characters feel really underleveled. Guess I should go grind for a bit.

I'm talking about final episode, not secret stuff. On the start screen the game says is possible to achieve it even on beginner.

If it is then you have to 100% all the reports. Have ''fun''.

Seriously tho you will have it easier just playing on proud unless you are really bad at the game.

Member
Umh, but it seems you get all reports just by playing the game :l
The only missable one is in Ventus play (a chest in Stich's world)...oh, and the one from Arena with Terra.
He/she means you need to collect evrything and fill out the entire journal not just the xenhort reports. If you play on proud you only need the xehanort reports

Okay, I just reached TWTNW in Kingdom Hearts II. Getting near the point where I will be grinding out form levels/Syth items/missions/levels. Is there a guide for the most efficient/quick ways to do this? I just want to get it out of the way so I can have fun doing Org XIII data battles, fight Terra, fight Sephiroth, etc. Basically going for the plat.

Anyone?

Unless something has changed, Final Episode requires all Xehanort reports, even on Beginner. Secret Episode was the one that required 100% journals on Normal and 100% stickers on Proud (and simply beating Final Episode on Critical)

Holy shit.... Bbs is the most extreme example of "But wait there's more" Ive ever played.
Edit:
Playable realm of darkness WAAAAAAAAAAAAAT

I'd suggest leveling up and leveling forms+summon first (you might want to save final form till you are higher level).

Master form first at Yen Sid's tower. Equip drive converter+jackpot abilities and equip Sweet Memories+Wishing Lamp keyblades. Go to the floor with Gambler Nobodies and just keep playing the reaction command minigames.

After that you have easy time leveling Valor at Agrabah Cave of Wonders Treasure Room where the Mushroom Heartless is. Equip all Air Combo Plus abilities and Star Seeker+Oathkeeper keyblades. Start the battle, press square for 2 fast attacks and keep doing as many normal air combo attacks as possible but don't use finishers. Just drop back to ground and keep repeating. When you are about to run out of drive gauge just go to the save point in the next room, go to the world map and come back.

Limit Form at the same location. Start the battle, run to the exit and spam sonic rave (you need to use the finisher to get XP). Remember to use it so that you don't actually hit the mushroom since that depletes your gauge faster. When you run out of mana just run to the save point, press triangle to instantly get max MP, run back and repeat. Use the Oathkeeper.

Summon at the same place also. Just summon Stich or something and once the summon gauge drops by 1 immediately attack the mushroom to get it back up. Let it drop again and keep repeating for very fast summon leveling.

Wisdom Form at Timeless River. Just kill the heartless and when you are about to run out of drive gauge go back to the door that leads to Disney Castle and use it to get max drive again. Just keep repeating. Use Oathkeeper

Final Form I personally leveled up at Yen Sid's tower. Just keep killing nobodies and run back to the savepoint before the gauge runs out. When you get higher form level you can make from the bottom to the top and use that save point instead. I used Bond of Flame+Oathkeeper and demolished pretty much everything with Firaga (remember to have Fire Boost equipped too).

Best way for normal levels is to have the Gullwing Keyblade+Exp Boost abilities equipped, unequip all healing abilities from party members, get yourself to critical condition and just keep killing nobodies at TWTNW. Magnega+Thundaga is your friend.

As for synthesis I'd synth a few Lucky Rings before starting to farm. After that just have some synthesis guide from Gamefaqs or something open if you don't remember where the specific items drop and start farming. Obviously equip Lucky Strike abilities. This step is much easier if you play on Critical. Also if you feel like it going to Limit Form gives one additional Lucky Strike.

After you are done with all that I'd start filling the Journal and whatnot.

shelved indefinitely

Game that never happened.
What a bummer .... I hope they turn it into a movie thing like 358 and Recoded when/if 3D HD happens. Makes sense they spent the time to model high quality organization models if they planned a bbs sequel.
Will write up my thoughts on Bbs. But basically the first campaign playthrough is just not great. After that when you finally get the hang of the systems it can be a lot of fun, but having to slog through a few hours in each campaign before you can get cranking on melding and specializing just isnt fun. Game has a shit ton of problems, but the story and characters on top of an interesting system (when you get to the point you can actually use it) and some good boss battles makes it worthy to stand alongside 1 and 2.

Thanks, that's a lot of detail. Hopefully it won't be too painful!

So, would KH3D be do-able as a HD-Remaster or will it translate to a movie like the other (3)DS games. I'm considering buying its the latter.

It definately is feasible to be released as a playable HD remaster. Like BBS it can be done with ''minimal effort'' by just upressing the game and touching up few of the models. Re:Coded and Days were impossible to release as a simple remasters for obvious reasons.

Now DDD has one thing going against it and it's the 2 screens+touch screen stuff that the game had. It is not however that deeply implemented so it can be either replaced with something else of minimal effort or just kinda emulating the touch features with analogue stick/PS4 touch pad.

I think majority of the fanbase expects it to happen and SE while not hinting at it nearly as openly as with 2.5 seem to be very open with the idea. So in short yes, it definately is doable, quite comparable with BBS, but since it's SE and the remasters are being worked by a small team that are needed with KH3 also there could be some bumbs with the project. So who knows but I think we will be hearing about it soon enough.

flick rush could easily become button promts if they want to keep it. Bumper cycling of the spirits

Thanks, the dual screens was exactly why I was questionning it. Danm it SE, It's been 4 months since release in Japan. Stop teasin' and answeerr usss.

I bought this game at launch but only got around to playing it last week. I played KH2 something like three times back in the PS2 days, so I was pretty excited to replay it on the ps3 (I also beat 1.5). Now that I'm finally replaying KH2 after all these years though, I'm starting to notice certain flaws with the game that I had never noticed before... These things can probably be applied to all KH games:

Why are the worlds so empty? I feel like there should be a lot more NPCs, this is especially awkward in worlds like Olympus Coliseum where Hercules and Hades are interacting with a nonexistent crowd. There's also not much to do in these worlds except fight, I haven't had the chance to explore the new cavern thing in Hollow Bastion, but worlds in this game have 0 platforming. There's also not a lot to interact with except treasure chests, every time there's a triangle prompt thing in front of an object, all you are rewarded with is a boring description. It'd be a lot more interesting if the game gave you a reason to inspect objects. Same goes for the few characters out there, I never talk to anyone since there is no point in talking to them (except shopkeepers of course). Would be cool if there were side quests or something... I enjoy the battle system, however a thing I don't enjoy is the QTEs that require you to press triangle, because you can just mash triangle constantly and never have to worry about anything, making the whole thing pointless. Also, anyone else bothered by the fact that there is no music during certain cutscenes? I feel like it kinda takes away from certain moments in the game.

Just wanted to vent out some thoughts, I'm still having a lot of fun though. I really hope they fix these things for KH3, would make the game so much better IMO.

Kingdom Hearts is easily my favorite seres, but you are absolutely right. The battle system and overall aesthetic are amazing, but the series desperately needs a shot of level design and exploration. Every part of the general level design and movement are to serve the combat, ie. lots of oddly shaped arena tied together with no rhyme or reason. Honestly the most interesting level in the entire series is Traverse Town. Lots of nooks and crannies, with enough landmarks so you dont get lost. Th Disney aspect kinda forces you to jump arond to different areas within a single world so its hard to get a cohesive level narrative.

Falk

I'm pretty attached to Twilight Town, myself, for similar reasons, except there aren't nearly as many little things to find/do in there.

I think a large part of Traverse Town's draw is due to KH1's Trinity metroidvania stylings. Being able to return to worlds after getting different moves (e.g. all those chests you saw but couldn't reach because you couldn't break a wooden fence etc) adds quite a bit more than simply being able to jump higher/glide further a-la KH2's drive forms.

I honestly think that the DS games are could easily be ported as is. I don't think any of them use the second screen for anything really meaningful. Granted it would still be a bit tough, but I see no reason as to why they legitimately can't (or shouldn't) port them. Aside from it taking a bit more time than the other ports.

re:coded for sure is easy pickings.

How do I unlock the bonus mirage arena fights? Im stuck a lvl 12 in the arena for some reason even though I can beat Monstro (hilariously unexpected and creative fight) in the first cycle
EDIT: also Recoded is boring as shit and possibly the worst licensed Disney product Ive seen in a long time...it was just so damn boring ans ANOTHER retread of KH1

Winning the Command Boards and doing the Rumble Races inside the Mirage Arena also raise your Arena level. Have you been doing those?

So, recently I've been trying to find well-known PS3 games that I have missed and, among other titles, I've just bought both HD remixes off Amazon, mainly because I'm curious about the Disney stuff.
Problem is I'm totally unfamiliar with this series and Jrpgs in general (I think Anachronox is the only one I've ever played), I hope this is the right place to ask a few questions:
- First of all, how are the remasters compared to the PS2 originals?
- Should I play all the series or just focus on the two "main" entries?
- Are these games even good? How do they compare to other JRPGs?
- Any advice for a novice of this genre?
Thanks

also, for the begining of KH2 to make more sense to you, make sure to watch the Days cinematics. unfortunately they didn't animate battles, and there were some really hefty battles, so i was dissapointed. but yes, going through the Days stuff will make KH2 better i think
