Kobe Bryant likely has a torn achilles tendon

Generally no. But the LA Kings and their fanbase have a history of applauding players of opposing teams who get hurt. A logic I shouldn't have applied to the Lakers fanbase.

Yeah, I can see that comparison. It's generally how people outside of America look at the NBA. The obscure title with the occasional fanboy.

that explains why the US mens basketball team is one of the biggest draws at every Olympics. and its been that way since Barcelona.

If only the NBA followed the example of a league where outside the jerse... errr nightgown wearing, octopus throwing, tooth missing, obsessed fan; nobody can name one team in the league, let alone who won a championship trophy named after something you drink from.

I'm confused,

was that an insult or a compliment?
I saw it as a compliment.

everybody in this thread are acting mad salty.

This dick measuring contest is really sad.

who cares who's sport is better or who's sport is tougher.

Like really guys? really.

Kobe got hurt. This could be the end. It is potetially the end of an era.

Who cares if Random Hockey Player man could come back earlier from this AND a gunshot wound in the face or some shit. That's really beyond the point.

You guys are some Gaming-Age shit right now.

This shit is cracking me up. NBA and NHL are the only two sports I watch, but this thread right here is more entertaining than both.

I meant overall. Peak vs Peak.

LeBron's in the middle of his prime, halfway through a career that Kobe is closing the chapters on. We'll see.

But peak vs peak....don't think either way is truly definite. They have both had historically amazing careers and Bron has put up seasons that these same legends have. And like I said he ain't even done yet.

People love to compare superstars of their respective sports. Its why Real Madrid fans jump through hoops every year trying to come up with reasons why Christiano Ronaldo is better than Lionel Messi. But in truth they just can't accept the fact that its never happening. Its like Lebron fans.

Uh... that's all sports is. Comparing and arguing ad nauseum about who's the best! Without it, what the hell would we talk about?!

Like how hockey is the biggest draw at the winter Olympics.

Why?

Because it's the Olympics. The summer Olympics competes with... track? And the winter Olympics competes with... Snowboard halfpipe?

Incidentally, I watched all of Team Australia take on Team USA and I had a great time watching it. We were in it there for a minute, until (funny enough) Kobe stepped up. Australia hasn't competed in Olympic hockey since the 70s.

Lol talking shit about the Stanley Cup. Sorry your limp dick little trophy can't compete.

Kobe played pretty fucking amazing during his peak but people sometimes forget that LeBron was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers and his best sidekick was Mo fucking Williams

Kobe got drafted into the Lakers and was brought up with Shaq and got a lot of veterans that he could be around. LeBron's first sidekicks? Ricky Davis, Donyell Marshall...I don't even want to keep going.

Lets not act like Lebron has no help right now though.

He has more help right now than he ever has or will in his career

I'm just saying, you can't compare LeBron's first half of his career to Kobe's and hold that against him now

Right now as a basketball player he is playing at as good a level as the game's ever seen

I get that.

But this is a thread about Kobe tearing his shit up.

Right now I put Kobe ahead solely on the strength of his numerous and crazy playoff performances, especially his Western conference finals games. The strength of competition in the west really helps his case too. The Spurs, Kings, Blazers, Mavs, Nuggets, and Suns all provided Kobe some great stages to step his game up. The East was a joke and made the Finals more of a formality than anything most years.

Lebron definitely had the higher ceiling though. I assume he is past his choking stage so if that's true he'll probably get a couple more rings. I just wonder how much longer he'll last, and how effective he'll be once he loses his athleticism.

Also the guy comparing Hakeem to Varajo is the most offensive thing I've read in this thread.

NBA-GAF vs. NHL-GAF

Luckily, I'm both!
I enjoy the non-fixed sports my self.

This argument would be so much better if we were all in a bar drinking.

It's no fun on the internet where everyone takes everything so seriously.

So compare him to say, Barry Sanders then instead?

Athlete quality:
Sanders > LeBron

Well Kobe's peak vs Current Lebron yet. How do we know Lebron hasn't peaked? he could start playing shit tomorrow. Its not likely but it could happen.

that's why we wait!

for all I know LeBron might die tomorrow. and that'll be all she wrote. so we should just enjoy history as its being written

and he is probably as close to his peak as one can get---I don't see really how much more he could do as a human
It'll be up to the front office to make him look good cause 1 guy won't get it done in the nba

I think Lebron has the most well rounded game in NBA history, but I would still pick Kobe over him in a draft. I am not really sure why either, but I just hate the idea of going to war with Lebron as my main guy.

I can't stand Kobe, but in my thirty plus years of watching the NBA him and MJ are the only guys to give me chills when they get in the zone. I loved Bird vs Magic, but Magic himself never really worried me. It was always Worthy or Kareem that were going to be the difference maker.

You should come down to Football GAF, we talk about football (soccer) Olivia Wilde, betting and Wilburys hairless body. Oh and Woodenlungs thing for Chloe Moretz

Well, atm I'm lucky that the NBA folk put up with my ass. Not sure if I want to tumor up another sports-age thread. Also, I've seen what soccer fans do when they get angry. Atleast in the NBA thread the worst that happens is I get accused of fucking my couch while being a sub husband to the wife. Well, that and nick changes from BlackAce. Not sure my heart could handle Football-GAF.
