Soft euro player. A good ol' Canadian boy would never miss a game because of that.

Pens have at least the #2 seed in the East. No reason for him to play really.

guys all my favorite sports are more relevant than your favorite sports.

your favorite sports are bad and uninteresting, mine is the paragon of athletic competition and an allegory for the human condition.

regardless of who it is it's a bummer to see anyone who is one of the best in their respective sport end their career on an injury or plagued with consistent ones, especially someone with a long storied career.

Lebron James in MJ's NBA, with no zone defenses and players like Bill Laimbeer considered "rough", would be a god.

Michael Jordan in today's NBA would be Tracy McGrady.
Stop talking about basketball. You're looking like a base head right now.

I'm not judging the sport's culture because of a few idiots. Just like you shouldn't judge fans of hockey for the racist/dumb idiots that may associate with it. Insulting all hockey fans, especially the ones that are minorities themslves. Does Lebron judge all basketball fans for the hate he got a few years ago? He admitted that race had a lot to do with it himself, which I agree. He even retweeted some of the racist stuff he got on Twitter. It's not indicative of basketball fans, or even the ones that didn't like what he did. It's indicative of idiots that are racist.

still waiting to hear about all the racism yao experienced

i've also yet to see an NBA, NFL or MLB team need to put out a statement saying that their racist fan tweets aren't representative of their organizations attitudes towards people of color. what's even more pathetic regarding the joel ward situation is that a month later he got another barrage of racist filth spewed at him. but i'm sure these are all just isolated incidences and not representative of a larger problem in that the nhl is far behind on diversity than every other major sports league.

Dude, search Twitter for NBA and the N-Word and then shut the fuck up.

Why is NHL-age so sensitive about the fact that they love a dying league?

I just did. It's basically retweets of some racist "joke" about Kim Kardashian for the past ten days and nothing else, but that's not proving your point. Beside, you make no sense, since this is very different: the hostility would be directed towards both the NBA/basketball and black people, meanwhile, on the other hand, the "purity" of the NHL is defended by white exceptionalists.

we're all getting merged into the NFL singularity in the next decade. First they came for the minor league sports and I said nothing...

are we really claiming issues of race, and more recently homosexuality for examples of diversity, have not been or are not present in all sports? really?

Switch the sort option to All instead of Top. I wont repost the tweets but they are there if you take the blinders off.

I don't even know who you are. Who are you? Are you significant in any way? Contributed anything to this community recently?

Don't even know what that means.

If it's any consolation I agree with you 100% and you can ask anyone in NBA-Age, when you have me on your side you can have confidence that you're right.

Laimbeer knocked out Scottie Pippen with an elbow & said stfu.
Lebron in old school NBA would be in tears, crying out loud "why, why"!

I wish the 90s Knicks played against LeBron instead of MJ. :(
Our freaking small forwards were bigger and infinitely better defenders than our current starting center.

lawl about 80% of those tweeting are black

moreover you can search nigger with anything and get a bunch of racist tweets so you missed the point which seems to be a refrain for nhl gaf this entire thread. joel ward got an avalanche of racist garbage thrown at him because he violated the "whiteness" of hockey according to a number of bostonians and the bruins had to damage control that shit as a result and then a month later fans of his own fucking team did the same shit and ted leonisis had to release a statement.

He couldn't even handle a fan trying to snatch his headband in that Chicago loss, how do you think he would with players tripping, elbowing & starting fights with him?

He'd do what Jordan did and whine to the refs about it. WTF is with this exaggerated idea that the 80s had fucking landmines on the court or something? LeBron is a fucking beast. You really think he wouldn't dominate in that era as much as he does in this era because Bill Lambierr might give him a few hard fouls. Stop romanticizing the 80s.

Not to mention outside of a few teams who played super physical, the vast majority of players even all stars/hall of famers in the 80s played jack shit for defense.

yeah um if LeBron was taught to play that way from the get go, dudes would not fuck with him

like charles barkley said, go ahead and take this charge but I'll make sure you feel it. I'm sure lebron would return those favors if he was raised in that culture

Also to note: LOL @ the NBA/Stern giving the lakers 50 fucking FTs to insure they win the game and make the playoffs, warriors got 16.

This is the one of the main reasons I don't watch the NBA. It's a joke.

Feel bad for Koby. Sucks to see his career sidelined by an injury. He's still a dick though.

I'm on that amnesty kobe wagon. Larry Coon predicted something like this could happen in 2011. so far it's going according to keikaku.

Teams don’t have to utilize their amnesty provision this season. For many teams it will make more sense to bank their amnesty for a couple years. In fact, some pundits have predicted that there will be no more than a handful of amnesty cuts this season. One possible strategy for the Lakers will be to hang on to their amnesty for two years (when the new luxury-tax rates kick in) as a hedge against Kobe Bryant (who will make $30.5 million in 2013-14) suffering a bad injury or steep decline in production.

It makes no sense to do that. He's only got one year left on his contract. If he can come back and play, he puts asses in seats and makes them money. If he can't come back, insurance covers his contract for one last year and then it's gone. Jim Buss might be stupid but the Lakers as a whole can't take the PR hit of not giving Kobe at least the chance to comeback.

Makes absolutely no sense even with the luxury tax to amnesty some guy making 30 million - and get him off your roster even though you'll still have to pay him. Particularly when it's likely he'll still play sometime late next year.

The reality is they will just likely ship off Gasol somewhere and try to cut payroll through other means. Whether Dwight stays or not.

Remember, Kobe takes HGH. Just like Suggs and Lewis. They both returned in speedy fashion.

Shhh don't use logic. It would kill their stupid fucking argument that their shitty sport is superior because the NHL is "dying".

3.3 billion and people can't name two stars that are playing

#notdead

#betterthansoccer

I feel you though. People try to tell me the Bobcats won't make the playoffs and I stan. You don't even know how hard and long I stan.

Since you love to tell other people that they ought to improve their reading comprehension would you care to tell me where anybody said the NBA is superior to the NHL because the NHL is dying?
