I think the real reason is that Kojima was too lazy to think up enough trophies for this hour long demo to get the plat and so he's using this BS excuse.

And if it had a Platinum trophy, they could get away with charging 60?

I mean, if true, this thing isn't even a game in the console makers eyes and isn't meeting the standards that other Sony games have to.

But yeah, if it did...I'm sure they could charge 60.

You actually have to prove that you can have a scope of trophies for the content in the game. And you can't have too many of any one trophy. So you can't just say "Completed Ground Zeroes 5%", "Completed Ground Zeroes 10%" etc.

If Ground Zeroes was PlayStation exclusive, however, I'm sure it could get all the platinum trophies it wanted (up to a limit of 1).

Resogun has a platinum. Angry Birds Star Wars... was that a 'full priced game'? I remember it was lower priced than most other PS4 titles at launch and was in a similar range to GZ iirc.

Pretty sure Putty Squad has a plat as well, and it released at a much lower price than GZ will.

Koj is wrong here it seems.

This

Ground Zeroes only has 11 trophies.

Sony's platinum regulation is a game must at least have more than 20 trophies for it to have a platinum

So many candidates for what should have been the first post, ha.

That said, Kojima should have serious pull with Sony to get it added. I'm sure if it was exclusive it would have happened. What's the gamerscore for the xbox versions, I'm assuming it's not 1000?

Scope is fine. I mean, you get platinums from the telltale games for just beating it.

Its your overall total. It needs to be 20+

Well, there is one small silver lining with no more official XBLA service (aka no more demos for downloadable games). There are still downloadable games on XBL but they're no longer called XBLA titles. Everything is just a "game" and so everything has 1000 gamerscore, no exceptions.

I prefer Sony's way. Ground Zeroes isn't platinum worthy, in the same way The Last of Us' 'Left Behind' DLC isn't platinum worthy.

Its not full price that decides it, it's either Small Scope or Large Scope. MGSV GZ fits into Small Scope. But it's a bullshit rule and has been broken many a time. I am surprised this doesn't have one.

I think both services have their advantages. I especially think that the idea of a "platinum" is absolutely fantastic. I like going for 1000 gamerscore but the only reason I know I have x number of overall game completions is because I subscribe to a site like trueachievements.com. With PSN you don't have that problem. You have a certain number of platinum trophies, and they're not hidden, they're easily visible, and they tell you quickly and conveniently exactly how many completions you have.

I definitely don't think there is any game that isn't "platinum worthy", so I disagree with you there. Anything that is a game should get a platinum. The same way I can complete Doritos Crash Course on XBL and earn a game completion (aka 200/200 gamerscore) , I should be able to complete MGS Ground Zeroes on PSN and earn a game completion (aka platinum).

Infamous Festival of Blood has no platinum.

And that falls more into the 'standalone DLC' category than releases like Resogun and Guacamelee. It's seperated add-on content.

Similar games, like Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, don't have platinum's either.

Yeah. And it's totally up to the publisher to decide if their game needs one. NOT Sony.

The reason it has no platinum is because there just isn't enough stuff in the game to make 30-50 trophies out of it.

False.

I remember when PixelJunk Monsters HD came out on the Vita someone asked why it didn't have a platinum and they basically said "we didn't know it could."

Sony and MS seem to have no restrictions on gamerscore/trophies anymore. Kojima didn't know and is now blaming sony which is just weird. Though, someone at sony should have said "put a plat in this bitch, koji!"

I think that Sony's official stance is (paraphrased) "Price doesn't matter, length of play required does." Which is obviously horseshit since I ashamedly have that cartoon game platinum that took less than 4 hours.

I can't even remember the name of the game ><

Gaf will laugh, but I won't buy it for PS4 then, Xbox One that is. Every time Sony does this BS I go for Xbox. And viceversa. I got RE4 and Code Veronica on Xbox because they didn't have platinum on PS3.

1000GS>1080p

And since there is content/saves that will transfer into TPP I will probably get that one for Xbox One as well.

How does he suppose to say? "Because our game is too short that Sony did not allow us to have Plat trophy?" Using the price as an excuse is very clever of Kojima.

Games with no platinum usually have few trophies, just like GZ.

Because they are deemed 'small content games', and therefore deemed to not have enough content to justify more trophies. That's my external understanding.

You're either "small content" or "large content", and the latter gets a platinum trophy.

As it should. Games are games and Sony should force every stand alone game to have a platinum. Treat every game the same to not create confusion about why does Game X has a platinum but Game Y doesn't?

This is correct.

I have a serious question, why does it matter? I mean I like completing achievements and 100% completing games, but why does it really matter whether or not it has a trophy?

I mean I guess on the Xbox achievements have a point value and platinums are like the "hardest" to get, typically and therefore valued at more, but aren't most of them just "get all the other trophies", in which case...why don't you just do that and pat yourself on the back?

People are seemingly getting really heated over this, and really hating on this game (or demo as they call it). I just don't get it.
