Kojima: No Platinum Trophy for Ground Zeroes because not a full-priced game.

As it should. Games are games and Sony should force every stand alone game to have a platinum. Treat every game the same to not create confusion about why does Game X has a platinum but Game Y doesn't?

Nah, keep it split between the two. There is a distinction between the two type of games we have, content wise.

The Battlefield 1943's of gaming. Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon. Assassin's Creed IV Freedom Cry. (For argument) Dead Rising 2: Case Zero. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

vs,

Battlefield 4. Far Cry 3. Assassin's Creed IV. Dead Rising 2. Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes.

And, to be fair, I think they do a good job of assessing this outside of their exclusive titles, which they bend the rules around. The former games, IMO, having platinum trophies undermines what a platinum trophy is. There might be individual games that do that also, but that's harder to regulate.

There are countless examples of cheap DD coming with platinums.
sony probably knew it was too short thus no platinum granted.

Doesn't Strider on PS4 have a platinum?

Sony shouldn't be the ones deciding if a game gets a platinum or not, should be a developer decision.

I don't get whole small/large content argument. There are games that I've platinumed in like 3 hours of gameplay, and then there is RE4 that doesn't have a platinum trophy. Hell, I got 4 platinum trophies from Sound Shapes just for beating 1 of the versions and syncing save.

Because they are deemed 'small content games', and therefore deemed to not have enough content to justify more trophies. That's my external understanding.

You're either "small content" or "large content", and the latter gets a platinum trophy.

One example, Smart As... has a platinum while Escape Plan doesn't and Escape Plan has a lot more content than Smart As...

This Sony criteria is so random and absurd that creates this kind of nonsense.

I think the fact that Sony is clearly favorable to their own titles (PlayStation exclusives) distracts from this.

Outside of their own titles, that seem to get the platinum pass if the developers want it, PlayStation regulates which games can claim a platinum trophy. And they do a good job of it, outside of their 'exclusive' indie games. Not every small experience on the PSN/SEN store is deserving of a platinum trophy. That ruins the concept of platinum trophies. And, yeah, some games might make it easier than others, but the way Sony currently regulate it excludes a large amount of smaller games.

Dead Nation and Sound Shapes both have platinum trophies.

There surely must be something else not being told here.

Gaf will laugh, but I won't buy it for PS4 then, Xbox One that is. Every time Sony does this BS I go for Xbox. And viceversa. I got RE4 and Code Veronica on Xbox because they didn't have platinum on PS3.

1000GS>1080p

And since there is content/saves that will transfer into TPP I will probably get that one for Xbox One as well.

Was 360 your first system? How was gaming pre-achievement points?

They're both Sony exclusives. Along with Guacamelee. And Resogun. And tons of other PlayStation sponsored indie titles.

That seems to be a place where Sony breaks their internal regulation rules.

It's the scope of the game. I've not played Ground Zeroes so I don't know the size, but Dead Nation is a huge game with character and weapon leveling, different game modes etc.

You might be right. Yet, isn't that a little crazy.

What kind of policy if true, is this.

It isn't the developer's ecosystem, though. And that would be quickly undermined, as trophies aren't as much of a cumulative score as gamerscore is. If PlayStation mini type experiences are allowed platinum trophies, why wouldn't they do it? Then that metric of 'gamertude' is rendered irrelevant, even if it isn't currently perfect.

I have a serious question, why does it matter? I mean I like completing achievements and 100% completing games, but why does it really matter whether or not it has a trophy?
I never got the whoel achievement/trophy obsession either but I think its interesting here cause this is yet another strange twist in the whole shitstorm/hypestorm surrounding this game/demo!

Seriously walking dead had a plat and all you had to do was play through the game Definitely wasn't a full price game. Wasn't even a retail game for awhile.

I'm sure their regulation isn't foolproof, but I feel like they got it right with Ground Zeroes.

If you consider Ground Zeroes releasing as DLC for a larger game, it's clear it isn't a Platinum trophy experience. Similar to Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon (that is more deserving, it seems) and Assassin's Creed IV: Freedom Cry.

As much as you can put games in two tiers, Ground Zeroes occupies the "smaller content game" tier more comfortably.

If it's considered a smaller game than Dead Nation it will be super interesting to hear impressions on release day...

Sony is actually really lax on this, especially these days with PS4.

Like, they're Konami and this is MGS. If they had asked, Sony would've made the exception for them in a heartbeat.

PS1 is my first system, but achievements are amazing. To the point that they sway people like me. For me it feels like less "value" and less rewarding when game has less achievements/worse trophies on one of the platforms.

Microsoft made all games 1000/1000GS now, even little titles like Halo Spartan Assault or Crimson Dragon. If Sony is too backwards to realize that Achievements/Trophies is a big deal now (it took them almost 2 years to get trophies going) then they don't deserve my purchase. You can't bend rules for your exclusives, why Sound Shapes has 3 (5 if you count different regions) platinumes? Why Resogun has one with only 5 levels? Why RE4 doesn't have one? It's too arbitrary, I am glad Microsoft is allowing to have 1000GS in every title.

Terraria and Minecraft have platinumes, and they came out on PS3 much later than on 360.

I don't want people get platinum's for $0.99 'Pong remix' games.

I mostly like the way it works, except for Sony displaying clear favoritism.

Those games probably just passed the criteria.

Surprised people are blaming Hideo o.O

Given there's a heap of people who play and buy games just for trophies, I'm sure he would have included a platinum if he could.

This explanation makes no sense. I almost wonder if the developer just decided not to include it themselves.

Sony's handling of trophies has always bugged me. Just make the rules consistent.

It probably doesn't have a plat because it's not a full game, not because of the price. My Trine2 and Resogun platinums say he's wrong. PEACE.

Some lazy searching also brought these up:

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/game/prince-of-persia-the-forgotten-sands/trophies/
http://www.playstationtrophies.org/game/prince-of-persia-sands-of-time/trophies/

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/game/the-voice-of-germany-volume-2/trophies/
http://www.playstationtrophies.org/game/wwe-legends-of-wrestlemania/trophies/

Less then 20 thingies, may or may not be exclusives. I didn't even look through the download games but according to other posts in the thread theres apparently d/l games with these same criteria an still also gots the platinum. This is not reflecting to goodly on GZ!

achievements are amazing.
Whys that??

For me it feels like less "value" and less rewarding when game has less achievements/worse trophies on one of the platforms.
How so??

Maybe because it's retail and not full-price?

This is probably the case. Had it been a digital download only, it would be eligible for a platinum just like any other title that doesn't receive a physical however, this is a retail game and it's $29.99 so it must fall out of those guidelines.
