Konami just posted a tweet where they are looking to hire for their in house team name dropping silent hill

Just how many damn Silent Hill games are they making?!

Oversaturation much? And what happens if the SH2 remake bombs critically/commercially?

What happened to Japan? It felt like they were the king of gaming right up until around 2005, then after that they completely took a backseat while the West dominated the industry. I miss the days of distinctly Japanese developed quality games. Zelda, Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Silent Hill, Metal Gear, etc etc. None of these series are hitting anywhere close to their greatest hits levels of quality today, if they're even still getting releases to begin with. It's just sad to see the country lose its soul alongside the West in this overly corporatized world we live in today.

i dont think its oversaturating ,as long the upcoming SH game will be made into different genres.

SH 2 remake is a remake.
SH F is probably another similar horror adventure game.

The other one is narrative game i believe?

The last one is SH 5 which is just a rumor.

I believe these games will not be launch beside each other.

The transition to HD and continued transition to 4K gaming has really impacted Japan and they're unable to keep up. Studios kept making internal game engines that were lackluster and replaced after each failed game. Whereas studios in the west really adopted using standardized dev tools like Unreal Engine and built skill and talent around standardization.

Using an in-house engine has its own advantages if the engine can remain modern and reliable, and you can retain people who know how to use it.

With few exceptions, you've seen Japanese development take a serious nosedive on the technical merits. Using their own engines is also what helped maintain their unique experiences too. The engines were built for the game they were making.

I've mentioned it in the past and recently, the exodus of experienced devs from studios also contributed to this. This is after years of poor working conditions.

Japan right now is trying to emulate the west, but it doesn't have what it takes to keep up, but then you look at companies llke Nintendo and Atlus who are doing their own thing and staying very Japanese and staying true to their game concepts, and having great success globally. That's what these companies need to do.

Konami is about money. The fact they are handing out the IPs like candy to random devs is alarming. I cannot image the budget is big for any of these games.

There's at least 4 SH in the making and in the stream the producer said that they have more projects with other devs.

It doesn't make sense all this overload.
