Korean Girls try Mexican food

Always a bit surprised there is not more market penatration for mexican food in Asia. People who try it seemed to love it instantly and come back for more. We always take our Japanese friends to a small Mexican themed bar/eating place here in Kagoshima when they say they have never had authentic Mexican food and they go apeshit when they try it.

Owner isn`t Mexican but he and his chef studied in Mexico for years, make all their own ingridents and everything to get as close to authentic mexican as they can... Its so fucking good, damn now im hungry and I just ate lunch 20 minutes ago

Is the Mexican Salsa Verde the same as the Italian one? Aka parsley, vinegar, capers, garlic, onion, anchovies, olive oil?
No, a basic green salsa is salt, tomatillos and chile manzano (peron). At least that's the go to salsa recipe at home. There's more complicated ones.

I liked how they were freaked out by the tongue, I think it's so mild it's tame compared to the chewiness of intenstine

Growing up eating Mexican food, I love every dish... except Menudo.
That stomach meat has always made me gag.
You might have never had good menudo. If you don't properly clean the tripe and stomach it taste like shit. Most restaurants don't take their time to do this because it's really time comsuming.

Yeah I agree with this. A lot of places don't give the right prep and cook time for menudo. It's a time consuming dish.

She eats Mexican food once and she's already using la chancla.

damn...I got hunger watching that, I feel like they need to revisit this because there is so much food they are missing out on, I mean they could do a full hour just on breakfast foods.

Home made menudo is the best anyways.
Yep, thats when I only eat menudo. I've had restaurant menudo and it's no bueno. Except for that place where my gramps gets it in Mexico, but that whole street is dedicated to making the stuff so it's understandable. Best menudo by far, beats homemade too, which is tough to do.

It's not the taste that makes me gag, it's the texture.

I will also like to point out that Chilles rellenos and Mexican Shrimp Cocktails are my kryptonite.

Korean-Mexican fusion is where it's at, great place near me
Got a Kogi truck that hangs around my area during the weekend. Good stuff.

First word they teach is "pendejo"... well...
Jarritos, proper tacos, also why is everybody so freak out for tongue? Is one of the best cuts, proper tamales, chancla, horchata, I think menudo could be a bit to harsh for foreigners and once again no food from the Northeast, I mean c'mon we have cabrito, asado, fritada, best tacos de trompo and barbacoa de pozo.

Found this "gem".

Why is that channel called "Facts." (yes, period included, which only increases my rage), when half of the videos seem to be about them trying out various foods and drinks, with the other half being made up of shitty Finebros' ripoff videos?

[Eats taco in Korean]

I agreed with them: menudo and masa are meh.

I've had Korean-Mex fusion in DTLA, but it wasn't that great. They overdo it with the sour cream.

For central Mexico style, I only like green tamales, which are only as good as their sauce, and the sweet ones. Imo, they should have offered them sweet tamales, they are less common and in my experience are more liked by the few international people that get to try them. Now, Oaxaca style tamales are godly!

The one thing that puzzles me that isn't popular worldwide is cajeta (or dulce de leche in South America). Is a universal good imo. Specially the Mexican one made with goat milk and wine. Sorry South American brothers, but our has a bit of more flavour. :P

Sweet tamal strawberry flavor, which is the favorite in Mexico City:

About Korean BBQ places. There's supposed to be a couple of good ones in Mexico City, but I haven't had the opportunity of trying them. But the ones I have gone to, in Seattle and San Francisco are indeed very good. I also like a Vietnamese restaurant in Seattle very much.

cow tongue is sooooo good, you are missing out if you've never had. Tripe on the other hand is disgusting and smell terrible.

Mexicans don't dip their tamales in anything

wait what

maybe it's because of the region of Mexico I was born in and the part of Texas where I live in, but everyone fucking dips their tamales in salsa.

My brother puts sour cream on them.

It . . . tastes not bad, but not good.

Also, my parents fry them like a day or two after they've been made. Heart attacks be damned.

Deep fried Quesadillas de tripa are good though. But still a step or two bellow sesadillas (Deep fried brain quesadillas)!

It's true, at least here in Mexico City isn't common to dip them. But they must be cooked with a good salsa to start with. Salsa determines how good the tamal is, adding more salsa is a sign of a badly cooked tamal.

Because we, in the north eat small tamales. South and central tamales are huge and quite difficult to dip in salsa.

It's ok, most of the world isn't aware of Korean bbq either. Hopefully its the next asian food fad after sushi, sriracha and pho.

I imagine the buffet varieties will rise in price and fall in numbers as its popularity rises..

:(

What? Dipping tamales in salsa? That's dumb. Tamales (at least the ones I know and love) have mole poblano inside them. Why would you need to dip them?
