If you don't like the skins, don't buy them. It really is that simple.
As someone who plays the game a bunch I don't think it's unreasonable to say that season three has been pretty underwhelming when it comes to new content being injected into the game.
There were over fifty skins out by this time last year, and 2013 has less than half of that, and even for the work put into some of the skins the ideas behind them are often remarkably underwhelming. So when another batch of skins comes up that are really lame it does kind of suck as someone who wants there to be more content.
But they're hardly bad. They're really well made, they have awesome effects and the concepts are cool.
Some people are impossible to please.
I already said why they are bad. Over the top skins like Arcade Hecarim are just gross, and with its humor falling on outdated video game references there's little for me to do but shake my head. I don't mind jokey skins like Pool Party Ziggs, but when they are super over the top they are obnoxious and in my face even as a bystander in games.
The Janna skin is whatever. Just dull. The spell effects are not the quality I would expect for a skin that costs so much and both those and the animations are overly busy. Obviously it is still incomplete, but the shield effect in particular is super low quality, and the ultimate is just underwhelming, missing the lingering haze some of the other skins have or particles that feel very unique. My primary concern still is that it just doesn't look like Janna, and with the spell effects being less obvious it is sort of the pay for an advantage iblitz situation all over again.
Some people are impossible to please.
Except I really like some of the recent skins. So impossible to please. Bear Cavalry Sejuani is an amazing skin that fits the champion, differentiating itself in the right ways to bring something unique while still looking like the original champion.
Not to go super Riot Illuminati mode or whatever, but it's gross to see champions that need nerfs getting skins, because it gives me little to no faith that necessary changes will go through anytime soon.
Riot just is not doing enough for the game right now. Maybe they are working super hard on overhauling stuff or whatever but another season is going by without the replay system being implemented, without the much needed visual updates to SR, with third party websites and programs being necessary to look up and track player and champion statistics, and with the interface still being in the gutter. Keep fighting for Riot Blitzcrank and Guitar Hero Hecarim as the only skins we'll see for the next few months or whatever the hell it is you're doing though.
