I think it just went live, so like a billion people are probably trying to access it at once. Or it could have something to do with how the first draft froze. I dont know, i'm not a doctor.

I don't think there's a problem as long as he clicks the link. Maybe that he needs to go to his region specific server (i.e. the site wanted to log me onto eune, so I had to manually change to euw to be able to join.). All leagues appear to be cross-server though
